Ok folks, list em here. Fics that you have flounced, and why you flounced them. Help keep others apprised of the good, the bad, and the badly edited. :-*

I adore Books and adore CC. It was truly one of the most imaginative stories I have read. And the twists and turns and connections are amazing. It was VERY wordy, and you'll think Edward is an idiot at some point, but all is resolved. Give it a chance!!

This is an awesome thread, and I am glad I found it. Thank you Rubydee for recommending this site. This thread has been an interesting read. It's been enlightening to find out why people flounce a story, even a popular one. Oh hell, who am I kidding, especially a popular one... I can not wait to see more posts to this thread.

In my case, I mostly flounce a story because I start playing with a new plot bunny and by the time I'm ready to share a rabbit, I've forgotten about the story... shameful, I know. But it is what it is, does what it does, and takes what it takes, right?

I'm interested to know if anyone has flounced, Through the lenz, Focal Point, or Home, not Home, Home...and if you have, why? I already know that there is a lot wrong with Through the lenz. I do, however, plan to go back and FIX IT and believe that your positive input will help.

Can you link the fics? I'm terrible with names. So I'm not sure if I've come across them or not.

There is nothing wrong with through the Lenz, you could tidy it up a bit, but I am non-canon girl, I don't normally read Edward/Bella unless it is something out of the ordinary.  I really enjoyed Through the Lenz, really good story, very different.  Welcome to PTS, if you want to have some fun and chat go here You are not allowed to view links. Lol... That is an awesome way of putting it, Tidy it up a bit, lol. and that is what I plan to do.

I found more and more I did not like about it as I wrote Focal Point and had to keep referring back to TTL to make sure that the important points lined up. I also noticed that readers that reviewed in the beginning, stopped and I don't know if they ever came back.

I was overwhelmed with trying to write, have it beta'd and posting all at the same time. It was my third or forth attempt at writing a complete fic that wasn't junk. (I left my junk up as a reminder of how far I have come after not writing for almost 20+years) or leaving a story on hiatus because I lost the story.

It's easy when everyone is saying great job loved it blah blah blah, but until someone comes forward, like Babylopez did, it's hard to fix it.

Does that make sense? :)

I am glad that you enjoyed it and found it different enough to read even though it was cannon. That tells me I did something right. :-*

Not some of the better known fic's or author... lol. Yes, they are mine. I hope you didn't think I was trying to deceive anyone. I wasn't. That would be awesome. I look forward to your comments. :-*

Yes it makes sense, but you should know, some of us are too polite to say anything.  Thankfully there are some who can tell you in a polite way that something didn't sit right. When I said tidy it up a bit I meant just that, don't you go messin with it too much, I really liked that story, saved it in my favourites.  You would never know you had struggled to write, what I loved was the plot line and the fact that even though it was E/B they were not together until right at the end.  Had you wondering all the way through how it would turn out.  So is Focal Point linked to  TTL?  It doesn't read that way in the summary.  If it is and it is written in a similar vein to TTL I will have to have a look.  This conversation should really be on the chat thread I gave you the link for.  This thread is for stories people didn't like, lol!  I already put a post up on the discussion thread and a link for your stories.  h x

There were just so many questions from Edward's pov left unanswered. I started out writting just 1 or 2 outtakes and the next think I know, It's a full length story... Focal Point is Edward's story.

Am I weird because I flounce fics where Edward and/or Bella smoke?

Just flounced one before he even got the cigarette lit.

Maybe?  We all have our quirks about how we want the characters to be.  I personally wouldn't fret about it.
One of the rare few....

I have a question. Yes I know, another one, lol. If you know that a story is going to have a sequel, or find out it will have one, do you read it, flounce when you find out, or wait till it's completed to read, and or flounce?

I read the story.   The author may plan on doing a sequel but that doesn't mean she will.  I have two fics on Twilighted that I read - One was a Rob fic called Days Like This.  She was going to write the sequel but a) she had writer's block and it wasn't coming out the way she wanted and b) she had a baby in March which has basically kept her away from writing.   The other was Love Is Always an option.  She was planning on a sequel also (Bella and Edward) but never did it(or she did but not on Twilighted).   If I'd flounced both of them I would have missed two really good fics.   or the fic may simply get pulled for whatever reason and you would lose out that way.  or - in the case of another fic (and I am having a senior moment and can't remember the title) - the author died of cancer - she finished the fic but never got around to the rest of the outtakes she was planning on.   Did I answer the question or did I misread it?    Okay - memory came back temporarily - it was called For Whom the Bell Tolls under AU on Twilighted.

You're welcome.    I flounce fics on occasion but not because the author is planning a sequel.  All it takes for me is when the author updates twice in one day seven days in a row.  You miss two days and you're already 4 chapters behind.    Life is too short.

I might wait for the sequel to be completed. It depends on the plot. Some fics you don't need to read the sequel. Like the gravity series.

If you stopped at the first one, it would be ok. The same with the second or third.
It also depends on how dependable the author is. If I know the author tends to post regularly then I probably won't flounce the sequel.

But mainly, it depends on the plot.

Just flounced this one:

 Jingle My Bella
By: Twiddler83
On Christmas break, Edward discovers he's not alone in his crazy world. A chat room girl who shares his love of music, art, and tattoos, might be a wish, but what happens when she turns out to be someone else, too? Will she deck his hall or jingle his bell? EPOV - ExB - AU - Rated M .
Rated: Fiction M - English - Humor/Romance - Bella, Edward - Chapters: 31 - Words: 12,334 - Reviews: 351 - Favs: 58 - Follows: 70 - Updated: Dec 31, 2013 - Published: Dec 30, 2013 - Status: Complete - id: 9974856

It's supposed to be a crack fic. I just rolled my eyes. Trying too hard that it wasn't funny.

I'm terrible about reading fic sequels, but I've never not read a fic because it had or was going to get one. If the fic has a proper ending, I'm usually happy, if it's a cliffhanger, then I'll check out the sequel.

I read romance for that- the falling love part. That's why I'm so bad about sequels, if the first story ends up with them together and happy, I got what I wanted, and seldom see the point in reading the sequels. The characters and story REALLY have to pull me in to get me to read the sequel.
