THE GAME THAT CHANGED IT ALL

Lonesome and second-guessing his career as a baseball player, Edward never imagined that it would only take one foul ball to turn his world upside down. Would he embrace it, or would he strike out, never knowing true love? AH/CANNON COUPLES.

There are quite a few errors, at least one of which I actually told the author about, ages shouldn't regress as a story go on. I had to flounce when it came to this:

If there is a subject that you don't know about, and you don't want to research, leave it alone! Such a simple stupid error. The first line I wanted to forgive her but three times that quickly, I had to move on.

Harvard Can Wait, no longer
By: Tongue-Twied
Sequel to Harvard Can Wait. Their journey back to each other has just begun. How much does Bella remember about the meadow? Will their new lives at Harvard coax their journey along or stand in their way? If you read HCW, then you've come to expect twists, turns, and resolution in the very last chapter. Oh, and Bruno Mars music.

I wanted to like this one as I liked the first, the author should have stopped there. I can't quite pinpoint what it is about the story that I don't like, but it gave me a headache.

See, now the mustard drill would have had me laughing. I don't mind SPaG errors as long as they are funny. But then I like to laugh at things. I'd rather laugh at something like that, than something that is supposed to be angsty. Though I have laughed at angsty moments when they are just so over-dramatized.   ;D

Though personally, I would like a mayonnaise drill. Or a muster drill. Nah, the mayo works for me.  :D :D :D :D :D

I've been lurking this board for awhile and finally stumbled upon this thread. Had I known about this thread I could have saved myself so much time ! I swear, this is seriously the best thread ever.  :-* Every one of my complaints as a reader have all been mentioned and discussed.

I flounce a lot, mostly in the first couple chapters if I'm not feeling this story, but there's only been one story that I can't even be bothered to mention because I'm still annoyed with myself for progressing to the final chapter. I kept thinking I was missing something and it would get better. It never did. I skipped to the end and tried to read backwards. It didn't help.

I seriously spent 12 hours reading this one story and was so distraught at having wasted all that time with nothing to show for it but a lot of confusion and an empty stomach. Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH for this thread  8)

I didn't actually flounce this fic, although I should have.  It's Lose The One You Love by Discordia81.  It's well written, but Bella in the fic is such an arrogant bitch.  She spends the whole fic moping over her ex fiance and only in the very end does she start to realize what she had with Edward.  Edward of course has his faults too, as he lets Bella walk all over him.  That said, some would say they both used each other for most of the fic, I'd just say that the whole relationship was unhealthy.

This was the first fic where I truly wished that Edward did not end up with Bella.

I flounced that one too a while ago. After the first chapters. But I can't even remember why anymore. Didn't even make it on my To-Finish-When-There's-Nothing-Else-To-Read-Anymore-List.

Dusty.

I've been reading fanfiction for a LONG time now, and I don't think I've ever met a set of characters I didn't like. I did not like this Bella and Edward. Mostly I just felt the story was way too long, and the characters were completely incognizant of the world around them. I know plenty of romance is written like the world fades to black and only you and your significant other matter when you're * :cupid: in love, :cupid:* but I found myself rolling my eyes more times than I could count EVEN THOUGH I STILL KEPT READING! I will give props to the authors, because they sucked me into that teenage angst love story. I'm still so confused about why there was so much unnecessary conflict though. With no real resolution or obstacles to overcome even as they entered the end of the story as adults.

Now, on a similar note, it was thanks to this website that I was able to find Heartache by Ooohlalaaa, which read like a more mature Dusty. I don't particularly like angst heavy stories, but there was plenty in this story, and it was all handled and wrapped up within 215 pages. Amazing. Mostly I just felt like I was missing something from Dusty, and cannot for the life of me figure out what compelled me to keep reading. Now I've read they're going to publish the story and I'm wondering how that's going to work without a ton of heavy editing.

Basically she breaks up with her bf because she doesn't want to move to DC. Then she spends one thousand chapters whinnying about it. And mistreating Edward.

Oh, didn't even try. I don't like Team Bella fics. It's just overkill drama. And they are always self and mutually destructive.

Wish I had known that  :( I went on a fic binge this summer and was making my way through the most reviewed stories on ff.net. I now know that's seriously the worst way to try finding stories, but I figured if something has that many reviews there has to be a reason why. I'm still amazed at how much Twilight has grown (obviously with the help of the films) from the time when I gave up reading back in 2009. The Twilight section on ff.net had around 2,000 stories and I was still reading updates from authors posting on LiveJournal.

Ohhh some authors love the shock value. So they get loads of review. Cause even if it a review is to say it sucks it adds up the numbers.

Oh yeah! I remember now thinking her boyfriend died at first. I would have understand her whining then. But I learned he simply moved to another city and she didn't want to move with him because she wasn't ready to leave her family and friends.  :wtf: Over and done for me. Unnecessary drama imho. Not realistic enough.

I know this is an older discussion, but I just have to say, that I won't read ANY mamasutra stories on principle alone. She's just too irreverent of our beloved E/B characters, and after WDCBU, which was the most sick Edward I've ever read, I refuse to let my eyes or brain be infested with her drivel. Even in the shocking event she wrote a good story, as I see referenced above, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole.

I just had to get that off my chest.

Thanks!
