I don't think I have ever find a realistic HS fanfic. But there is fiction and then there is "No-freaking-way-that-happened"...  :D

I think the last one I (tried to) read was Breaking Trinity. Not my thing after all... :P

Quick question: How long do you let pass before declaring a fic incomplete instead of WIP?

It really depends on the fic. There are some that I watch that haven't been updated but if I like the sound of it (based on summary, reviews, recs, etc) or of the author is still writing or updating their profile, then I keep it on my list and just check in every so often to see if it's updated.

I have bookmarked all of the fics I am watching for in Internet Explorer under the last month that they were updated. Every few weeks I click through and check. It's very exciting when a fic updates after months  :57:. I delete the bookmark if there has been no update in 13 months - unless it's one I really want to read, like RPGs by Twilightzoner or Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers by Robicorn. I have 4 bookmarked that haven't updated since 2010. Eternal optimist?

This system is dodgy, but it works for me. I do cringe when I read how some of you have spreadsheets and use Calibre  :-[

There seems to be a lot of fics that are not marked as complete when they are. This sends me into an OCD frenzy because I never (now) start a fic until it is complete. I sometimes wish I had the courage to contact the writer and check in, but that's just not me.

Yup. Most HS fic is pretty unrealistic, mostly because it is fic and being written by people who are no longer in HS. It's hard to really write like a teenager I think. I usually try to avoid HS fic but there are some that I have really liked so if they intrigue me I'll give them a go. I think I give HS fic the flick more than any other though.

One HS fic I really enjoyed was;

Bare by stella luna sky

Winner of two Summer 2009 Indies. A beautifully plain girl writes the colors used to unravel a young prodigy of the brushstroke. What color are the eyes that see through the heart? Forest green and their rooted brown. AH/M. COMPLETE.

This fic is beautiful. There is something about it that really drew me in. My heart ached for Edward in this and it's one that I've gone back and read again. It is not your typical HS fic however.

As for how long until a WIP becomes incomplete? I usually give up hope after 10-12 months however there are some authors who only update once every 4 months or so. If a fic hasn't been updated in a year I figure the author has given up on it, unless they have stated otherwise. Doesn't stop me from putting them on alert and hoping against all hope though.

One that I wish would update is Ugly by silver sniper of night. I live in hope she will finish this one day but it hasn't been updated since May, 2011  :(

Oh lord do not even get me started on all the types of rage this induces in me. Literally causes me to crack a fruity. I mean, fair dinkum, how difficult is it to press a button?! RAWR! Anyway. Shutting up now before I really spit the dummy and you all think I'm bloody raving starkers.

If I fic hasn't been updated in ages and I really like the look of it I skip to the last page and if they mention that it's the end I'll go ahead and flag it (and get slightly agro). If not I'll put it on alert and then forget about it till it eventually (if ever) gets finished. If I'm only slightly intrigued and it's not done I usually just give it the flick and forget about it.

I know mostly all HS fic are unrealistic drama , what i meant exactly is unbelivable chracters & hard to digest plots & scenes. there are  few fic  out there which are aweosome HS drama fics or HS background with some unqiue concept.
Ex:- The tutor, The path we choose ,My beautiful storm, wide awake, hit by destiny..After reading these fics, i cant adjust with anything less than this standard.

Abot WIP or incomplete fic.

Normally i check last update date of fic, if gap is more than 9-10 months than i dont  read it, if its very interesting story than i put it in alert but i dont read it until its finish..I have few incomplete  story in my readlist & author update every chapter  with 4-5 months gap. So yeah i put that story in alert but will not read it until author complete it.

I just have this HUGE list of flagged "WIPs" because I always live with the fear that someone might update even after all this time and I will never see it... :( (Talking about optimism... :D)

Maybe it's time for me to keep only the ones that were updated at least once in 2012. And maybe a few selected ones.

(Thank you for all the HS fic recomendations  :-*)

My two favorite HS AH fics are Hit by Destiny and Tropic of Virgo.  Oh and I guess Loner also.

As far as WIP's  - for me, after a few errors of reading these things, I only read WIP's of authors I know will update and complete - i.e. CaraNo, Savage, etc...  And anything Actorward.  Because I am a sucker for Actorward  Sigh.  ;D

If a WIP looks interesting and hasn't updated in a while, I will check the last chapter AN.  I've found a number to be basically complete and waiting on an epilogue that never gets written.  Otherwise I will follow the story and wait and see.  My follow list is really long.  :P

There's so much out there to read, I don't really worry about it after that.  I guess this is where my ADD comes in ......ooooo is that a bunny??  :bunny: :bunny: :bunny:  Um yeah...  What were we talking about?   :D :D :D :D :D  :)

For me? My ALL time favourite HS fic is True Love Way by Teambella23, if you can call it a HS fic it is a lot more than that....

RE Running by Merina Green- when does the romance between Bella and Jasper finally start to kick in?

Jasper has finally found Bella in Siberia, so I'm guessing it's soon, but man, this one is taking it's time. Not even slow burn, cause it took almost 100 pages for them to come face to face!

Also, how long is Bella "crazy" for?

It might be an idea to PM the person who rec the story to you, that way if anyone else is reading this story it doesn't get spoilt for them unnecessarily, or maybe ask specifics under the cover of a spoiler alert. :)

I am very close to flounce this fic.I feel like  :pulling . I am interested in HS fic right now so i thought it will be good idea to try that fic despite of  hardly 600 reviews. Story is very similar to film walk to remember minus [all cancer, sick main lead , death]. Its just HS drama fic..But everything is so immuture & out of place. Alice is officially most annoying chracter of twific for me.. :021: She  dont know  bella that much, & Buy her expensive cocktail dress. WTF??? Bella actually accept it.. :o Even if my best friend  force me to gift me expensive dress without any occasion i would protest. & than She go to bella's house & force her to  dress up & attend party...Arghhh who the hell bring huge suitcase just to dress up someone for small satuardy party.. :wtf: oh & oh nerdy bella  who never had any friends & wear glasses  suddenly doll up in tight jeans & attend party & drink.Whatever  :33:

I seriously  want to read some good HS fic without this cliche unrealistic nonsense.

If you haven't, read The Hood by Lawn Girl.  All HS and very realistic.

Bella's crush on quiet Edward Cullen seems to be one sided. But when they start hanging out will things change or does it all stay in The Hood?

Please tell me this is in reference to the "hood" you have on a sweat-top and not "The Hood" in a gangster rap...because the thought of Bella and Edward in anything resembling a Snoop Dog/Dr Dre situation just makes me want to giggle :D :D :D
