Isn't it funny how words can be different from one place to the next? I've never heard of smelt as a past tense of smelled....I've heard of it as a fish though lol.

Yep that's what I think of- the fish. Playing Animal Crossing and catching Pond Smelt!

I've heard of smelt - my years of reading mostly British & Australian Harlequins - but it isn't something we normally use in spelling.  But really, when talking? Our smelled sounds more like smeldt. ;)

But shutters? Yeah, we've had this conversation.  So annoying.  Though my latest annoyance is the use of elicit instead of illicit .  The problem with misused words? I read them correctly. Sometimes it's hilarious. Others it really messes with the flow of the story.  :P

I remember Harlequins! Do they still print those? I use to sneak them into school pass the nuns and read them during prep, hidden between my biology course book or under the cover with a pen-light after lights out :D :D

I've been a busy girl this week (reading that is ;) )

A Voice In The Darkness by nickeyd26 You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login is a Carlisle/Bella Vamp/Human story.  Very good story, well written for the most part, good plot and characters.  My only beef with it was that the author seemed to never want to use the same description for lemons twice, which lead to a lot of descriptions that made me want to lol or roll my eyes.

Examples:
  • She leaned up to meet his lips with hers as she thrust upwards to make contact between her chalice and his sword.
  • Carlisle was overwhelmed by the exquisite heat he felt as she welcomed him into her inner sanctum
  • she slowly impaled herself on his ice cold disco stick.
  • He swirled his tongue around her swollen clit a few times before dipping into her love box.

Of Kith and Kin by Chicklette You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login which is a seriously awesome Edward/Bella, well written.  My only comment is that 10 chapters of angst could have been avoided with one simple conversation.  I hate that.

Now I'm reading Three Graces and a Muse by FarDareisMai2 You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

It's been seven years since Edward left and he's about to find out that things have changed in his absence. Now Bella is caught between forgiving her past or following her future. AH Rated M for language and lemons.

I think it's gonna end up E/B, but I'm not sure.  That Bella is a busy girl.  And I am very, very jealous!!
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

White Picket What?  by CaraNo
"Edward, didn't you use the condom?" she asks, and he wrings his hands awkwardly and replies, "Ummmm, yes?"

Its darbble fic with short 50 chapters..you will probably finish within 30 minutes.very funny story with super cute geeky Loserward  & sweet bella...Just put all logic aside...its fun story for little laugh... cara did it  agian with writing diff charcters & background so far away from cannon stuff. I actually had great time reading it as WIP since past 10 days.  :sign0098:

P.S:- what r guyz reading right now? please suggest me some good drama fics with some logical well-written charcters.I was planning to start pound of flesh but i dont know i just couldnt start it. :( It surprise me that some of members have overflowing TBR list, when i dont actually have any list. :17:
I loved reading WPW - haven't laughed so much in ages. I loved Picketward and I can't remember reading another fic with Edward acting like that - by the end, I was crushing on him big time.  :D
Atm, I'm reading Unplanned Perfection by littlecat358 for the gazzilionth time as I keep flouncing on all my TR fics even though I do wanna read them, I'm just not in the mood and this one I love so I keep going back to it.  :)
Btw, I don't know if anyone else agrees but loving that Flag are now doing covers to some of the fics you convert on there - maybe it's just me as I like my fics to have pics on the fronts (covers) of them even PDF's.  ;D

Ice Cold Disco Stick?!  :NeenerNeener: Far out man!  :peace: That has got to be the worse description for a p.e.n.i.s ever! And the thought that it's Carlisle's Disco Stick that is being described...... :banghead:

Oh I just had a thought; maybe she knew on some sites the word p.e.n.i.s might not be allowed! :D

WPW is next on my list to read!! And I love covers on my Flag.com downloads, the first time it happened I panicked thinking "what just happened!" i thought something had gone wrong!!

NB. I have started WPW. This is Jerry Springer Land! Funny in that trashy, cringey, OMG way :57: I have giggled/snorted for 36 chapters now!

OMG yes, they are still around. They used to be my light relief from the stress of life before I discovered fanfic.  And? Though the early ones were all fade to black? The current stuff gets MA rated. Oral secks and all.  Shocked me at first. But who am I to complain LOL!  ;)

OK Ella, you know actorward, do you recognize this?

E is an actor who goes to Forks and meets B, they fall in love. Tanya is the maid and leaks pictures to the press. B gets pregnant and they have a daughter.

Someone on FB is looking for it.  They think it may have been pulled.

Can something be called a "collection" if there are only two stories?.... :P

When I first discovered communitues/collections on fanfic.net, I couldn't get why there were so many with 0 fics, while the story count in the description at the top would say that there were a heap  :-[

When you go to a community, you need to click on the "Rated" box (then click go) to see all of the fics in the collection.

This one actually has 21.

I come from a mining area, so we also have "smelting" which has nothing to do with fish or smelling - although when you walk past a bloke at the shops who's been working in 40 degree (104 F) heat and hasn't showered before going shopping on the way home from the mines, you might think that he smelt worse than dead fish!!! :sign0137:

It will be 2 books from same fic. Article said it will be about 80% different to "In order to shake off the "Twilight" legacy -- and possible copyright issues -- Hobbs and Billings have substantially reworked "The Office." Its new iteration contains only about 20% of the original, its authors say."

I loved The Office, but in all honesty there wasn't much plot.  I can see them having to beef it up before publishing.

I understand the two books will be Beautiful Bastard and Beautiful Stranger.

Haha, I've never heard of it as a fish! To me it's just always been the past of to smell.

It's the same with to learn. The past tense for us is Learnt, I know in North America it's learned, but to me learned is pronounced Learn-ed and means someone who is very well read or knowledgeable about something.

I've done a bit of study on this in some of my Linguistics units and I could give you the most amazing list.

One of the ones that got me when I first started reading fanfic was 'garter belts' to me a garter is just the piece that goes around the leg to hold the stockings or socks up (or even jodhpurs), it's warn over the garment you want it to hold up most commonly just below the knee. If it's in a belt form, used to hold stocking up, we call them 'suspenders' and what North Americans call suspenders we call braces.

Oh, and rubber and eraser are always funny. In Aus what in NA is an 'eraser' is called a 'rubber', but in NA a rubber is, well, a condom.  :D :D :D

I don't like the new pretty covers that Flag is now using.  It makes it hard to hide what I'm reading from my husband-- He doesn't like that I'm so Robsessed!
