Has anyone read This Life by CaraNo?

I started reading it and made it to the 14th chapter before I bailed.  I love CaraNo's stories so I was really looking forward to reading this, I just want to know if I bailed too early and it gets more exciting.
[/quote
I agree. I love her stories too and just thought it maybe was me. She wrote one previously where B was involved with a football player, I think Em or Jasper was a brother and that was awful too. Her last three stories seemed so not her style......(.the prose and flow of the story)

No, I gave this one the flick too, although I think I stuck it out for a few more chapters than you. To me it got kinda boring and slightly repetitive. I may go back and try it again once it's complete (or is it already complete? lol) but this one just didn't do it for me. I remember finding a lot of the secondary characters extremely annoying, and there was a tin lid that finally dove me to quit.

Naughty, naughty ladies; don't be too illicit now, you could land yourselves in gaol  :P

Now, I just finished reading Better Than Pie by Savannavansmutsmut (Oi lordy that's a mouthful).
Bella decides marriage will solve her financial problems and auctions herself off as a wife, only to be bought for an unsuspecting Edward by his meddling but well-meaning Down Syndrome brother, Emmett.

It started off with a somewhat outlandish plot, but then halfway though hooked a bloody uey and was suddenly trundling off in a completely different direction. There were a couple of times when I wanted to yell at Bella or Edward to grow the f up, but not enough to make me flick. None the less I enjoyed it, it was pretty light hearted and overall well written. Emmett is a blast in this and by far the best character.

It's marked as humour/t7608 and while it's not laugh out loud funny it's definitely in no way serious. There is a pregnancy, however the sprogs only appear in the last chapter, so never fear, it didn't change the tone/ flow of the fic as usually happens with Bella up the duff and dealing with ankle biters.
I loved this one - it made me laugh and cry and broke one of my golden rules when reading FF - I read it when it was a WIP.  :)

I have a rec for Bella/Jasper fans :)

Sassafrass Junction » by MsEerieChastain reviews
Twice burned, three times as heartbroken. Bella left Forks and returned to Phoenix to start again. Jasper walks into a bar to find a familiar face. He can't believe his eyes, but he likes what they see. Ditto Bella. Mature content, over 18 only, thx!

Now this is showing my age - I remember when I jumped from the Sweet Dreams series, to Sweet Valley High to Harlequin and M&B - this was s e x education in an all girls boarding school in Australia in the 80's!

Then I read Lace by Shirley Conran - this was the Fifty Shades on the 80's.  I was 16 when I read this (illicitly - elicitly, Ella? :P) and I NEVER knew you could put goldfish THERE!  If you don't know this book google "shirley conran lace goldfish scene"!

Oh dear - I really do sound like a pervy knickers!  :-[ I promise I am a fine upstanding Australian citizen - I'm a school principal, for goodness sake!
CATCHING-UP
You have the exact same reading history as I have!  And the same educational one to by the sound of it. Was your boarding school a convent? I think there might be a link there between our reading material and our boarding school background. I remember reading Lace, ohhh! and Valley of the Dolls, ( though that was classified as "historical" reading) but I was a huge Jackie Collins fan.  Did I read that Lace is $14! it's probably labeled vintage, collector's item  :D

I just finished A Friend in Heaven by Winndsinger You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

It is the 1980's and Edward left home 10 years before to feed off the living. He is becoming very dark and isolated from humankind. Then he attempts to save a young God-loving girl and must watch over her for a few days. Some bondage scenes.:

I tried Friend, earlier this week actually, and I flounced, not because I thought it was "bad" just not what I was in the mood for at that moment

If you end up in pirate gaol with Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom I wouldn't be bailing you out, I'd be joining you sister!

Although I don't think that pirate gaol is the AFP's preferred correction centre, unfortunately for us we'd more likely be sent to some heinous women's gaol out in whoop whoop.

Well, after all this I'm off to make strawberry custard tart; maybe I can bribe those AFP officers with my sweet treats. Hehe.

I give up! What is the whoop whoop?! I Googled but..and is that were Johnny is hiding to get our his marital upset? Because I'll be happy to pay the airfare to come over and offer him solace

I have flagged Better Than Pie glad to get a review on it shall read it after I finish Whatever Works

summary:When Bella accepts a home-care provider position, she has no idea that the impossible son, Edward, will have such an impact on her. Will she find herself completely wrapped up in his complicated world, or will she learn to hate him?

It's Actorward and I stumbled across it when I was getting Twicdrunk last night.  It is much better than I expected and written thoughtfully and without too many grammatical errors. I'm on Chpt 18 and there are 44 in total so who know at this point, but so far I'd say if you're looking for Actorward this might make a good Saturday afternoon read?

Whoop Whoop is Aussie slang for basically the middle of nowhere (back of beyond). Anywhere that is sparsely populated, removed from civilisation (which, let's be honest, is most of Australia), and generally remote. Also possibly kind of backwards and most likely populated by bogans.

Johnny could be hiding there, but you'd be hard pressed to find him. You can drive for 1000s of kilometres and still be nowhere in Aus.

I love that! The whoop whoop....I'm adopting it, it is now part of Demaris vernacular.

Not a convent - it was actually a "Presbyterian and Methodist Ladies College"  :D

Not THE whoop whoop - just whoop whoop - pronounced oo as in book, not oo as in zoo.

I LOVED Whatever Works - although this Edward is a little too bi-polar. Hope you enjoy it.

Mmm? Same thing, right? Religion morn, noon and night? But I expect you didn't live by Mass bells...

Oh! OK, whoop whoop, as in " it like whoop whoop out here" for a remote, underpopulated area?
I am enjoying Whatever Works, so far it seems like one of the better Actorwards I've read....

I've heard of this one, but I haven't read it because I think it was never completed.  I will look when I get back to my computer ;)

Someone suggested it was The Long Way Home by eviekinz.

The paparazzi can't stop chasing movie star Edward Cullen. After being chased from his hotel by the papps, he stays with a local and meets the girl who just might save him from his fandom and himself. Then again, maybe he will save her.

I just finished reading Going Under by sparklnfade You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

It's been ten years since the summer Bella Swan's life changed. What will happen when she comes face to face with the reason for it? She went under once, will she go under again? AH ExB

It was a fairly easy read, surferward.  Well written.
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

So you're saying where I live is the right next to whoop whoop.  You drive a few blocks west of me and there is miles of nothing.  Actually I used to live in whoop whoop but we moved a little closer to civilization a few years ago.  ;)

I love the word bogans. If it means what it sounds like, we have some across the street  :P

I just started reading The Long Way Home & may have to flounce before too long, unless I can get it to convert to epub.  PDFs are so annoying on my nook. Every other line shows up in a different font, some words are huge, others are barely readable...and on my phone it looks perfect.  Just tiny. Really tiny. Ugh! The story seems okay.  It wasn't on any of my Actorward lists, so I didn't realize it was one.  ;)

But thanks for letting me know.  I do love Actorward  :-*

I just finished reading For the Summer by camoozle.

Every year Bella waits for the 'Pay Checks' to roll into her sleepy river town and every year Edward's hers, just for the summer. AH, AU, OOC, B/E

It was really good. It's HEA but it's a nice slow burn to get there, and a little lemony too.
