I'm reading the Whitlock Saga by Mortissues, (on book 2 now), and while the story is really good, some of the writing is driving me batty. This author is really "hicking" up the characters. ANYTHING that ends in "G" has it dropped, so it's all lookin' and thinkin' and doin' and lovin, and now, she's even dropping the "d" off of and! So we're now thinkin' an' doin', and it's driving me nuts. It started out as just Jasper, but now Bella is doing it too, and since the story is told in her POV, it's everywhere!

The second story isn't holding my interest as much as the first one did. What I like the most is the fall in love, the denial, the pursuit, the final giving in and admitting the feelings. I think that's why I haven't read any vampward fics yet, they're already in love, how can they have that fall that I love?

I loved that fic (the first one) but I know exactly what you're talking about. It's overkill when authors drop every single g off of a word. It gets annoying.

I never did understand why Bella started doing the same thing, though lol.

How about calling Bella Kitty?
"Come here Kitty"

arghhhh

The story I'm reading keeps referring to Emmett touching Bella's "mound,"  it's driving me crazy!

I think I remember Bella thinking somewhere about Jasper rubbing off on her.

ETA: I think I'm going to have to move into something else. I'm starting to get kinda burnt out on the same story of B/J falling in love (my favorite part!), Bella getting turned, Bella learning to use her shield, and them fighting some big bad. It seems to be a lot of rehashes of the same story, I need something new. Any recs for me here? Something that's still vampy, but doesn't feel like a rehash of the same story?

I started reading Darkest Before Dawn by The Only Pancake (where do they come up with these names??), and it's basically just a really quick retelling of Twilight, only she falls for Jasper instead of Edward. I stopped about halfway through.

You should read Mark of Beauty. It is vampward but they are not in love straight away, plenty of suspense and it such a great, well though out, well written story..It has to be the best story I've read in a while.

I read the first but somewhere in the second I got bored.  Not sure why, though my ADD could have some - Oooo is that a bunny???  :bunny: :bunny: :bunny: :-[ ::)

I just finished Whatever Works by Soft Ragoo.  I was following it as a WIP, but didn't realize it was Actorward.  It is a decently well-written story with some angst but not too much.  It is written all in BPOV. So you only know what she does.  It can be a little frustrating at times.  ;)

I read that this weekend too, it was ok, wasn't it? You know what I'm in the mood for a fic where the angst and UST goes on until the last few chapters. I'm with Matron in that the UST is what I love, the minute Edward starts realising/acting on his feeling for Bella, I lose interest!  Does anyone know a fic like that? Even better if it doesn't get resolved until the sequel!

I love the chase, the fall, yes, the UST. I also love the resolution, where they finally get together. I need a little bit of the happy sexitimes, but it's always hard to keep me interested in reading more books in the series.  I also usually like it when some kind of issue causes insecurity once they are together. Twilight kept it going cause they broke up, we got to wait on them to get back together, but by BD, I was pretty much over it!

Another one of the WIPs I was reading has been completed!

Letters to Corporal Masen by solostintwilight
Writing to offer a bit of home to a soldier overseas, she discovers words can bind a friendship. Lonely in war torn Europe, he finds hope in letters from a stranger. What happens when the war is over?

This is a really good fic, it sucked me right in as a WIP, I'm just lucky it was somewhat towards the end. Set during WWII, it's another one of those "Bella sends a letter to a lonely soldier and they fall in love" fics but I really enjoyed it. Very well written and the fact that it is set in the '40s sets it apart from the others like it. Also a good little history lesson, we see more of Edward on the front than in some other fics where he is away at war. It was a killer to read as a WIP, there is no heavy angst and now it's complete it will be even less. I really would recommend giving it a read or adding it to your TBR list.

I had to share the typo I just read:

"I placed my hand over hers, luxuriating in the feel of her warm, silky sink."

 :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

That aside, it's a very good fic so far :)

......Jasper has a life altering experience that changes his life....Mmmmmm

Dare I hope that all our fanfic discussions are going to be moved to this new Fanfict Alley, and that all those new book requests are going to be moved elsewhere?

Because my main purpose for being here is the fic, and the other stuff has been getting in the way the past few days, lol!!

(but might I suggest renaming it Fanfic Alley? (no t) Just because it's what we always see it called. :)

Just finished My Beautiful Storm by troublefollows1017.   You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Edward is a perfect sweetheart and Bella has a funny nervous habit.  If you need something with humor, romance and low angst, not to mention some weather related innuendo - this is a great way to go.  I'm off to read more by troublefollows1017.  Fridays at Noon is one of my absolute favs, My Beautiful Storm was a great low stress read for my high stress week, now we'll see what High School Confidential holds for me.

I guess bogans live everywhere and evolve to suit their environment.

The original Aussie bogan would have been wearing black or acid wash jeans, a blue singlet, a flannel shirt and ugh boots, with a mullet and a loud car, unemployed ("on the dole" ie receiving govt benefits), smoking and talking with a very strong, very nasal Australian accent.

So proud *wipes tear*

I see this guy every time I go to Walmart (minus the hat... and with a larger bottle).

Hi
Yes I did, maybe more! The Edward in this is really well written...he's not an overgrown school boy. He has a seductively cruel streak which has more behind it than meets the eye, and Bella is really interesting, her power is given an interesting slant, though Lolashoes does that too. But MOB is pretty far removed from the original Twilight in a lot of ways; in, and can I dare say this, better ways. I just wish the whole story was longer, I could have definitely read MOB as a trilogy!
