Here in the States, it's pretty much 18.  And Rob was 21.  There's a 2 year leeway.  So if he had been 19? No one would have cared. Of course, this is not always followed.  My sister started dating her first husband at 16 & he was physically 26.  Note the word physically,  since mentally she was older.  So really it was a perception thing.

I think we do let Edward & Bella get away with a lot.  I've seen stories where Bella or Edward is 16 & the other is way older & it's okay. ;)  But normally - yuk! :P

I stumbled over the "physically 26" for a while before thinking to venture on in hope of an explanation!   :D

When you say " 2 year leeway" what do you mean? If she's 16 then its fine because she's only 2 years away from the legal age???

If they are 16, then dating an 18 yr old is fine.  Or 17 & 19.  Mostly it's really for the 16-14 age difference.  So, 2 yrs apart in age is acceptable by law.  But really, it's up to the parents & whether they want to charge statutory rape.

Um - I guess if they aren't having sex? Yeah, doesn't matter :D
My BIL was very immature for his age.  :P

Gotcha! Here it's 16, no leeway, as far as I know; everyone has to be over the age of consent....Though I suppose if two 14 year olds were having sex it would be illegal but the parents would have to push the issue to the police also..

LOL! You could have said.  I'm one of those people who don't have a problem with spoilers....partially because I tend to forget :banghead:  ;D

I read the end of stories all the time & if I don't read the whole thing right away? Yeah, I've forgot it  :P

But thanks ! :-*

In Aus it's 16 (except for SA and TAS where it's 17). In Victoria at least though if the child is10 or older they can legally give informed consent to sexual acts as long as their partner is not more than 2 years older than them. I think most states have some variation on this defence.

Age difference strangely doesn't bother me much in real life, maybe it comes from having a close friend who has (and has since the age of 16) a boyfriend 14 years her senior.

In fics I have no problem with Edward being much older than Bella, for some reason though I don't like reading fics where Bella is much older than Edward (or any male pairing). I'm weird.

I'm not a fan of older woman/younger guy either, no matter the story type. I've only found a couple I really liked.

Worship was the only older Bella/younger Edward that I remember liking.  Well, there were a few where Edward was like 25 & Bella was 30 or so... those were fine.  I tried reading Art after 5 but was having trouble with the age.  I don't know if anything happened sex -wise though.  Edward was 16 & Bella was a teacher.

I can't link, but they both are on ffnet.  ;)

I think I'll be waiting for the DVD too, I'm so not a fan of the films, though I will be forever grateful for the emergence of hottie tottie Robbie.  The only element that really interests me is how they're going to change Stewart's slapped arse of a face into a Y-front dropping, show-stopping, awe-inspiring beauty, but from what I've seen in the trailers she still looks exactly the same, constipated.  :P Was that harsh?  :D

 :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
I'm glad that I'm not the only one of that opinion but I must say your description is hilarous :D

Another grammar fail that is about to make me pull all my hair out:

'would of' (and 'could of'; 'should of') is not grammatically correct! They're contractions and should be written 'would've', 'could've' and 'should've'! Only in rapid speech do they come out sounding like they end in of, but in reality folks, you don't say "I should of gone to primary school to learn basic English grammar' you 'should have gone' and learnt that 'of' is a preposition and cannot be used in such situations.  :banghead:

LOL!  This seems to come up fairly regularly.  :D :D :D. It's hard because I really don't think many realize it's a contraction when they speak it :P

I'm watching it again on Sat with my daughter  ^-^. I feel the books are always better than the film but it is always a treat to see Rob  :). Edward and Bella were quite funny/endearing in dealing with her being a newborn. Though i have to agree with Kristen's "constipated" style of acting here.

it's been a while since i read the books so i appreciated this last one as the end credits will show the entire cast from all 5 films. I finally put a face to Garret, kate, peter, tanya and all the other minor characters that were in the fanfics i've read. Was a bit sad when it ended but maybe they will continue the franchise in some way in the years to come...

17! She clearly hasn't been using her Oil of Ulay...

Here's my theory - she has been pumped so full of botox since she was 16 that she has no expression - hence her acting style and range, personality, etc.  :sign0099:

Yeah - but in Tasmania girls have sex with their brothers!

Not really - poor Tassie is just our version of Kentucky - or whichever state/town each country makes fun of for inbreeding.

I don't mind so long as it is consensual AND there is an equal balance of power in the relationship.

I liked The Rookie by LyricalKris (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login), struggled a bit with Art After 5/Counterpoint by sleepyvalentina and Age of Consent by littlesecret84 but actually didn't mind A Downright Disgrace by velvetglo (although,

I can cope with little things like that however I was reading a story that was just awful and it was virtually impossible to ignore.  Just about every paragraph had spelling mistakes and it was driving me nuts  :banghead:
