Have you read Tropic of Virgo by In.a.blue.bathrobe?  That's a HS fic that I actually enjoyed :)

He's a young but jaded musician writing lyrics for his band, and she's a naive, frustrated poet looking to break out of her shell; their words collide online. What happens when they meet in high school, unaware of their literary connection?

I read that as a WIP and it was amazing imo. She is a very good writer

and she has excellent taste in music lol

I'm loving this thread!  Although I seem to spend more time searching and researching fics and then I don't have any time to read them.  Must be why I am up until 3am reading.

Looks like a lot of us are really addicted alright  :P
I slept at 3:30 am today and woke up at 6 am. Couldn't put down Emancipation Proclamation which i've been reading this past week. Finally at page 1,511 out of 1,943 and the past few chapters have been all suspense, action! It's great, angst that I can bear. My heart has been twinging the entire time i've been reading it.  I've connected with the characters, she writes well. I really do see why this had been rec'd a lot despite the length and being slightly repetitive (EPOV and BPOV).

Well, i'll try to go back to sleep some more. I was just plugging my ipad to charge it while sleeping but got sidetracked when i saw the email alert... And of course searching and downloading the other fics mentioned here.

Good night, sleep tight and enjoy your weekend  :-*

i know exactly what you mean! It's 04.22 GMT and I have finally finished a fic! first one in a week. All I've done recently is jump around from fic to fic as recommendations come in and I haven't been able to settle on a single one, until All At Once by Grown.Ass.Woman.

Summary: Edward had it all: beautiful wife, great kids, promising career. He was content, until a chance meeting
changed everything. Happily ever after isn't always what it seems.

I got the rec from mamasutra, which will tell you, more that I can, what the plot might be about,  :)  And I have to say IMO it is really good
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
The writing is good, the dialogue is well thought-out and realistic. Bella and Edward characters are well rounded, and the tale is told totally in EPOV, always a good thing in my book, well, as long as the author can do him justice, this one does. It's complex, it's angsty, grown-up, lots of grey areas (as real-life normally is) And though you do at times want to slap Edward upside his head (a la Rosalie, who btw is no where to be seen this time round) you do sympathise with him a lot. All in all happy I took the time to read it. There is a link below of where you can find it if your interested. Might go to sleep now.....

High Anxiety was another that i read about halfway through and then stopped....but I think it was a WIP at the time and that might have been why?

I'm going to have to re-read that one, though. I've been in the mood for a good High School fic and haven't found one yet. I got distracted from Evading Edward  :o and Hit By Destiny was abandoned again lol. I officially give up on that one.

Have you tired Living Backwards it's an interesting take on the HS fic. I really enjoyed this (though it was one of my very first ones so I was less...demanding?)

Summary: At 27, Bella Swan is not the mousy and shy girl she once was in high school. After hitting her head, she awakens to find herself back in 1999 during her senior year. How can you go back and repeat history when you aren’t That Bella anymore? ExB, AU/AH

Also Wide Awake, a bit darker than Living but a really good read...Though I should precursor that with admitting I do like plenty of angst.

Summary: Bella moves to Forks after a troubled past, plagued by nightmares, and meets Edward Cullen, who has the same problem. They begin to bond in the night hours, helping each other stay awake.

Wide Awake popped my fanfic cherry and it will always be in my top favorites, the angst was awesome and I loved the author :)

But, I've not read Living Backwards yet and am going to flag that now, Thanks!

I just started reading The Real Life of E.A. Masen - and I'm having a hard time putting it down to get some stuff done that needs to be done.  Mostly humorous.  Lots of flashbacks.  E & B have been married for around 20 years & Edward makes a living as a p0rn um erotic romance writer.  But no one knows.  Well, Rose, Bella & Emmett. And of course he and Bella have to test stuff out before he writes it. LOL! Not too graphic so far.  And Jasper hates E.A. Masen because real guys aren't like that.

They have teenage kids - so there is the joy of the sex talks.  Yeah.  :D :D :D ;D

The Real Life of E A Masen
Edward Cullen - to most, he's a boring book editor but he's really an elusive romance novelist with an erotic flair. When he's not writing p0rn I mean romance, he's just a guy who's married to his high school sweetheart and father of three teens. Rated: M

Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Humor - Chapters: 34 - Words: 185,899 - Reviews: 1912 - Updated: 10-4-12 - Published: 4-24-12 - Bella & Edward

Hi Ladies
OK I really want some input from you all on this, pretty please! :sparklyheart: I know this is thread is meant to be for rec and discussions but this is kind of a rec! I'm wondering, how you lovelies are saving/archiving your stories. I ask because I have a bunch of completed fic saved as "favorites" at FF.Net and a bunch of completed/pulled fics on my computer/iPad (these tend to the same just iPad makes for easier reading etc) Only problem is I can't ever seem to remember what is where, I saw a rec for My Mate by PrincessRachael and thought "Hmmm? Do I have that?" took me 20 minutes to find it in FF Favorites  :-[  I'd quite like a more amenable system and wonder what you beauties did (yes I'm kiss up a little, shoot me.) I'm thinking - every thing that's completed, regardless of whether it's pulled or not, should maybe be download and saved and just use FF to track WIP? But what do you guys think/do?

Grateful in advance for any ideas/insights  :88:

Well, I use Calibre, and I tag every story as I pull it. I have  AU Vamps, Bella & Jasper, All Human, Slash. But I'm getting so many, I think I'm going to have to take it further, and split the AH ones into things like athletes, actors, darkward, daddyward, high school, etc. You can add more than one tag, as many as you need or want. Probably going to do that tomorrow.

I don't pull many incompletes, but I always tag those too. And as I read something, I add the "read" tag to each fic, but keep the original as well. Makes it a bit easier to find stuff, but as I said, I think I'm going to have to break them down further, getting too many AH and stuff.

There's also a wicked cool fanfiction downloader plug in for Calibre that I use. Just paste the address into the plug in, and it pulls whatever fic right into calibre, and then I add the tags.

Wow apparently I do not use Calibre to it's full potential. I should start, but I have so many freaking fics it's really ridiculous.

Thank you! I've just had a quick look at Calibre and, maybe it's because it 5am in the morning in London and I have yet to get to sleep but it looks as frightening as hell! I'll have a nap and a break from Diva Diaries and come back to it fresh...But thanks for the recommendation  at  lest I have other options... :88:

Neither do I it seems.  I am a self-confessed hoarder.  I have too many to do anything fancy with.  Though I do have some folders with things like "Actorward" "Vampward" "Doctorward"

One of the great things about Windows 7 is the search function.  I open my ebooks fanfiction folder and type what I'm looking for in the search box.  It is amazing what comes up sometimes.  But normally, if I have something? It will be the first thing in the list.

Otherwise, yeah, it's a big mess. :)

I do prefer fanfiction downloader, which is on my computer, because it is now set to author name - story - last update for the file name.  I will never ever again over-write a completed story with a one chapter update wiping out the story.  Yes, that happened.  Noticed an update & downloaded it.  Then I noticed that is was a heck of a lot less words that it should be.  Fortunately, I also have multiple backups ;)

I'm trying to get/set good storing habits before it all get out of control which trust me I can see happening any day now. Whatever your doing Tami must be working, you seem to be able to whip out a fic and upload it at a seconds request!

I have to say, I use Calibre to remove the DRM from my Kindle books.  It does a great job.

I don't like it so much for keeping fanfiction only because it puts everything in separate folders.  If you are able to use it to sync a reading list, that's fine.  Otherwise, you have to go through each folder to copy to your Kindle, Nook or whatever.  And I do understand that there is a way to do this, but i haven't had time to learn.

I do like the idea of the updating WIP's though using the plugin.  That is pretty cool.

WOW Ladies, I just found out about this topic, and its already 10 pages long.  I guess I have some catching up to do.  I would love to recommend a WiP.  It is Solostintwilight's (In Your World, The Biology Project) newest story: Letters to Corporal Masen. It is a WW2 Story.  The summary says: Writing to offer a bit of home to a soldier overseas, she discovers words can bind a friendship. Lonely in war torn Europe, he finds hope in letters from a stranger. What happens when the war is over?

This is a fantastic read so far, at 24 chapters, and she updates multiple times most weeks.  Give it a try, and let me know what you think.

I got it through the Calibre program - Under preferences/Plugins there is a button that says "Get new plugins"

They have a bunch of plugins available one of which was the fanfiction downloader.  It was really easy this way & it automatically checks for updates.
