what's he filming anyway? (Someone on here has to pretend what we admire is his amazing acting ability, right?  :57:)

Sorry not to answer this highly cultured and focussed question - I was distracted by all of the "sport talk".

The movie is called The Rover. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
A dirty and dangerous near-future Western set in the Australian desert.

Dirty and dangerous ... in the Australian desert?

Sound like anyone you know?

Throw in desperate and ding!ding!ding! We have a winner!

I wonder if he'd hire me to take care of that for him? I say "hire" but no money would need to change hands, EVER!

I've already submitted my job application - and believe me, if I had that job there would be NO changing of hands!!!

Just  >:D to keep everything warm - obviously essential in the Australian desert!

Funny you should say that I'm read a fic now where he is... :D And I am totally crushing on him!! ( I now sound like a 15 year old HS American girl; again, WTF?!)

I ALWAYS sound like a HS girl when I talk about Rob.  And my oldest is in college (and I was a late bloomer when it came to having children) so you know I'm a good number of years past HS.

Sorry I was busy watching Rob via my Chinese internet service (bloody cheek, you Aussies, honestly!  :D) I'm reading And With Thee Fade Away by Derdriu OFaolain.  It's a really great Edward, he's a sarcastic, ironic Mancunian living in Forks. Not sure how that happened but love him! No where near finish yet but so far so good...

And if Robert Pattinson joined One Direction? I would punch him - repeatedly - in the face.

(but then kiss him better).

My five year old niece loves One Direction - sigh - It's going to be a very long Christmas Day listening to their three songs over and over and over. I might have to punch myself in the face! She is too young to expose to the glory of Rob though - even though her brother is named Jacob (yes, after the wolf! My sister-in-law and I have had LONG discussions on that topic!) - and (more disturbingly) her father (my baby brother) is named Robert!  :sign0137:

I admit, I had to google Mancunian.

I love the words you Poms use to describe which town people come from.

When I was younger, we spent a day in Liverpool, driving around asking people where they came from, and then laughing hysterically when they answered Liverpudlians  :D

Yeah - I was much younger.  ;D

It is really good, but you do have to be in the mood to read in order to read it, if you know what I mean? It's very well crafted but it's not easy, there's a fair amount of stylistic writing going on in this little ol fic  :) This is no immature, 15 year old grammatical nightmare, garbage; nope, this scribe can write!

Here's an interview the boy did in Australia a few weeks ago.

He talks about BD2, The Rover, accents (no Aussie accent from Rob  :'() and even tents.

Mmmm - Rob with a tent...
and I've taken us full circle!

City, my darling Pervy, city not town...That would take to bloody long...Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and London are the 4 major cities in England so we have Liverpudlians, Mancunians, Brummies and Londoners. BTW regarding  :sign0104: I read it as Nob as in Nob-head!  :D :D

When the interviewer started speaking about the desert,  "I give you three days and then you'll be like, 'get me out of here!' " I laughed out loud! It just reminded me of all the stuff you've been saying about whoop whoop. :D :D

I don't think people can quite comprehend just what the outback is like. There is literally nothing but red sand and scrub for thousands of kilometres. It's called Never Never for a reason...you never want to go there and when you do there is a good chance you'll never leave...

There is a reason 90% of the population lives on the coast...

I think the only people who can are others who live near deserts. I have a Namibian friend who talks the same way...I use the word "talk" loosely mainly he is cursing the loss of mobile reception anytime you're within 10 miles of the place  :D :D Poor Rob probably thinks Outback and pictures anywhere outside the Watford Gap  :D

City...town...same thing when you live in whoop whoop. It's all "the big smoke" to me!

I LOVE the expression Nob-head! Reminds me of this:

The American government funded a study to see why the nob of a man's penis was larger then the shaft.

After 1 year and $380,000, they concluded that the reason that the nob of the penis was larger than the shaft was to give the man more pleasure during sex.

After the US published the study, the French decided to do their own study. After $800,000 and 3 years of research they concluded that the reason the nob was larger than the shaft was to give more pleasure to the woman.

The Australians, unsatisfied with these findings, conducted their own study. After 1 week, a cost of  $75.46 and 2 cases of Foster's, they concluded that the reason the nob was bigger than the shaft was to keep the man's hand from flying off and hitting himself in the forehead.

Haha. Yup. Pretty much the same here, unless you head into Alice Springs. The flies are the worst part though, bloody blowies. They're like black swarms of disgusting. We wear those stupid cork hats for a reason people. Even down in Victoria they are horrendous, especially around the horses. When I've been out on some of the Outback cattle stations they are almost unbearable. Then add in riding in 48 degree heat all day, not having any toilets or running water unless you're at the homestead. It's not fun.

You say Outback around here (Texas) and it means a restaurant where they serve steak and bloomin' onions!
