Although I have been here over a year, I think this is a change, or I have just never noticed.

Just because you bookmark a thread, doesn't supply email notifications when there is an update. You actually have to click notify at the top of the thread.

*scratches head *. Is that new?

I don't know. But I agree. I don't get alerts unless I have the topic open in my browser. Really annoying
~No, no. I'm laughing at you not with you~

I figured it out when I wasn't getting updates to our new thread even after I bookmarked it.

Yep. I open the thread and then I get an alert. I have about 50 tabs open so I can keep up with everything.

Well the notify at the top provides an email that it has updated.  Imagine how many I get a day.  :)

I don't have many fic updates. I've turned into a fic snob. I'm very choosy about what I read. Besides I haven't read a lot that are on here so by the time I've gotten around to FF it's usually already complete  ^-^

I have about 10 WIP's I'm actively following. Blogs not so much. I think The Lemonade Stand is the only one I really follow. Do you have more???  >:D

Yeah, snail mail, the good old days, when an envelope through the door might have carried something other than a bill!  >:(

So Day 1 of the Christmas Holidays and the Griswalds have NOTHING ON US!!! I'm ready to throw my damn iPhone at the wall (if you see multiple posts from me blame the phone). My 3 year old nephew told me that I "have big boobies" (why can't older non-related men notice this???) and the only vodka in the house is Smirnoff which gives me a massive headache.

So I'll have a massive headache in the morning.

On the plus side, I did sleep with a very nice, very good looking young man. Unfortunately, it was on the plane and we both slept!!!

Illabeth, I have hopefully PM'd you with all the details as I have no morals or virtues. Demaris, I'm not concerned about my job - I keep telling you, school principals are a pervy bunch. It's in the job description! How else do we survive?
Could I get details on how to join the adult only group?  Please thank you

Hey there pretty ladies..(that's meant to be a said in southern accent a la Jasper)  I'm back, having survived the monster that is Dusty. I hadn't read it since it was on chapter 19 ( 6 months ago) so I went back and started it again at the beginning. All I can say is, thank god I've start my Christmas holiday...it took me 24 solid hours, and I read really fast, to make my way through it and that was because I had to step away from my iPad on numerous occasion and take a chill pill. While catching up on the thread I noticed a few questions about the story and HEAs etc so I have posted the review I wrote on Goodread below which I stuck under spoilers because it is monster long! But I wanted to say on here, as you ladies will understand me being fellow Twific addicts  in some form or another, that with Dusty it's not about HEA or Non HEA, that isn't why you should or shouldn't read it. Personally I think you should read it because Dusty epitomises all that is great about this crazy Twific genre and why we spend so much time here, Dusty is the very best of what Twifics is about. I will say, that it is scary, there will be times when you will want to FLOUNCE *shouty capitals*  and, as I said in my review, hit someone, really, really hard, but keep at it, no one will appreciate this fic as much as you ladies, the fact that we meet here so regularly tells me that. You will be doing yourself a great disservice if you don't. In 10 years time, when The Twilight Saga has gone the way of the Dodo and someone says "Oh! Do you remember/read Twifics?" Did you ever read Dusty will be the follow-up question. We've all read a lot of Twishite, but Dusty? Whether you love it or hate it, it is a story you will never forget, it won't blend, you will never confuse it with some other fic. Quite frankly I don't know how I'm going to move on from it, what to read next that will compare; how to go back to dark haired, pixie, slightly psychotic Alice, after falling, head over heels in Twific girl-crush, with blond, tomboy, skater-girl Alice. In fact, I think, the only person who YellowBella didn't physically alter is Edward (apart from his eye colour) Jesus! Even Jacob Black got a make-over! Which brings me to my next point, YellowBella's writing. It is superb. I have no idea who these two women are in RL but they put Meyers (and a whole world of "successful" published authors) to shame with their writing, it clenches you in a fist and hold on vice-like until they are through with you, there is no spoon feeding, no bowing to mass preconceptions, no swaying from where they want the story to go; they stay true to their vision (however long it takes  :D).  I loved it! Every heart-wrenching, ugly crying, laugh snort moment of it. Oh! As for the ending? It is whatever you want it to be, I think I read some one earlier saying the ending is "hope"; yeah, it is hope, and as such? It is perfect :-*

Goodread review
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Thanks Demaris.  Your thoughts are exactly what I needed to hear.  And YellowGlue and TeamBella23 are two amazing writers.  Thans again.  :-*

Lurking on a bloody iPhone that only has service if I'm on the third floor of my parents' house so between that and reading Dusty and prepping for Christmas, just laying low.

It's really not all bad. I've attached a pic of what I wake up to every morning from the veranda of my bedroom...ETD Well, I would if the iPhone would let me - I'll do it when I get onto a real computer  :pulling

For a really confusing rec (because I'm on my phone and relying on my memory!!!), when Teambella was writing Closer, etc, back in my WIP reading days, I also got hooked on an author called Blue22 or 22Blue or something like that - check her profile and see if anything might appeal. I remember alternating between them waiting for updates.

Will it end my Dusty Fic Funk, *sigh* I  need a little help? Were you ladies fans of Sex and The City? Remember when Carrie asked Miranda to say stuff to drag her back from her affair with Big? This is what I need from you, dear friends, give me recs to drag me back from my Dusty Fic Funk.. I was on our adult thread hoping to get some light relief only to be reminded of Just Wait and High Anxiety, only two of the most angst ridden, cry fest fics I've ever read before yesterday! :D  Though the talk of "toys" brought a demi-smile...

ETD: It must be 22Blue as Blue22 hasn't written any Twifics...

I came across this in a story I am reading, it's a quote that only a Twifanfic addict would appreciate:

"I have lived for hundreds of years, yet I have not been impressed by the passage of mere time. Technological developments are always interesting, but it has been humans that really make the endless years worth living. The way they endure, the way they always try. Their faith that tomorrow will be better, that they can be better. Call it faith, call it the soul, it matters not. Whatever it is, that spark of human belief, it has endlessly preoccupied my mind. It is why I wish I was not a monster, why I resisted feeding on humans all those years ago. I could not, in good conscience, snuff out that spark so that I might live." - Carlisle Cullen, Near To You, Chapter 3.

There are some real-life baddies around the world that could learn a lot from a fictional character we all know and love.

I really appreciate that I now have like minded people who do not think I am bonkers to share my addiction with.  Thanks for accepting me into your global community and for all the downloads, rec's and laughs. Outsiders may not understand our addiction, but it bonds together a world -wide group of people who help each other.  Maybe they could learn something from us?  (No RD, they do not need to learn about Robp o r n, or Astro, PK's!)  Merry Christmas everybody. H xxx   :-*
