I'm reading Rebel Child and I have to say that I really hate Charlie. I'm not usually a Charlie hater but WOW, he's a dick in this fic.

Also there are lots of typos and misuse of words but I'm plugging through because I really like the story line, reminds me of the Caged Bird. Renee was cray cray and all religious.

I hate when you find a good story line but the errors detract from that  >:(. There are very few that I can stick through if they have too many typos, grammar issues-I get too distracted with them and end up not even paying attention to the plot. I find myself watching for the mistakes. I wish I could overlook them as some do, b/c I know that I flounce some potentially good fics

I enjoy reading stories with humor to get me out of my angst filled funks.  One I recently read was
Dirt Roads
Storylink: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Summary: Trucker hats, possums, and dirt roads. Shenanigans ensue. Is there really less trouble in the country, or are the kids just better at not getting caught? ExB, AH. Story contains mature themes.

It was just good ol' sh** kicking fun.  It is complete, just not marked.

Merry Christmas and or Happy Holidays to you and yours.  Cheers!  :-*

I LOVED Dirt Roads. Loved, loved loved it. Such a light hearted read and Charlie as a stoner? Oh my, yes lol.

Hey
Not sure if anyone has been following this but The Life Aquatic has completed! All I want for Christmas is for the other 50 WIP's I'm following to do the same!!! Shouldn't be too difficult right? If Dusty completed anything is possible...Expectations and Other Moving Pieces, Torn, yeah, come on Santa do your magic!

There is no Twi fic. It's us addicts putting Edward and Bella's names in place of the original characters  ;)
~No, no. I'm laughing at you not with you~

And don't forget to press "Thank You" after downloading. Someone took the effort to find it, you should thank them.

I don't have many fic updates. I've turned into a fic snob. I'm very choosy about what I read. Besides I haven't read a lot that are on here so by the time I've gotten around to FF it's usually already complete  ^-^

I have about 10 WIP's I'm actively following. Blogs not so much. I think The Lemonade Stand is the only one I really follow. Do you have more???  >:D

Snort. Do I have more.  This is what my google reader looks like.

Since it 116 of them, I have placed them under a spoiler

I usually just open it as a Word document and then use find and replace.. I'm not sure how others do it though, my way only works for the main characters really.

Is anyone else interested in getting Otherwise Alone, the original fic by Savage? It's only £2 on Amazon UK but I wasn't sure how long it is. Story sounds great though!

Isn't it identical to her submission in the fandom for Texas ? Has anyone compared?

I have no idea, I only saw the amazon version mentioned in her A/N for Caged. I never read that compilation so I haven't read the story anyway. Weird that she'd make a foray into publishing with something submitted to a charity compilation though.

Yup,  that's how I do it as well :-) Though I'll also switch the secondary characters as well. It's a good project when I get in a fic funk. I need to do the second Crossfire fic and I hv found a couple others to do :-)

When I heard "the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun [sic]", my blood started to boil! Totally with you on the need for schools to be a safe haven and lack of understanding/empathy on the whole "right to bear arms" ammendent thing - especially as automatic weapons were not around back in 1787 (btw- Australia wasn't even settled/invaded (that's a whole different soap box) then).

I was ranting about this last night - my school is so underfunded. I would be wild if I had to redirect funds that should be spent on improving outcomes for students were to be redirected towards paying for an armed guard!!!

How does the US gun lobby have so much power?

What a lovely sentiment, Hathor, but one always needs to learn about Rob p o r n! ;)
LOL, yep, can't hurt, and my Carlisle quote seems very apt with all this talk of gun's.

Everyone I've talked to says it's exactly the same, it's short(4 chapters), and it's 3.99. That's like a buck a chapter! I've seen lots of people mention returning the ebook because they were so disappointed. More about her now selling something she wrote for charity, but many are mad about the length and that nothing was changed.

I'm also reading breaking news, and I love it! I'm glad I love it so much, because the few stories I've recently read were not able to captivate me, and I thought I had to take a break away from twific.

I think that after having read (woha, is that even English? please help me if I made a mistake, thanks!) so many great fics, I've become very picky now. I've read subject: Edward Culen aka the womanizer, and I've flounced. I have known a lot of players in RL, and they don't fall in a week. EVER! It's not realistic at all. When I started it, I was waiting for UST and a bit of angst, and all I got was a horny Bella who didn't seem able to not jump him and an Edward nice as a puppy and in love in 5 minutes.  :-\
Bella: Jacob, it won't stay up!
Jacob: It will once you start moving!

I LOVE this story. It's in my top 10 I think. I'm so glad she completed it. It's so different than a lot of the stories out there. I haven't read the last 2 chapters yet, I hope I won't be disappointed.

I'm actually in a fic funk and finding it hard to stay focused on any I've started :(

Anyone got anything for me?
I missed an update yesterday, so I'm a little late to the party.  Anyway, someone was rec'ing Winndsinger's Red Line, so when I went to get it I noticed Hurt.  It is good so far ;)

Sometimes you just need a rant. As an Australian I suppose I'm not really qualified to comment on this topic except from the side of someone who lives in a country with very strict gun controls and is totally for them. Police, Protective Services Officers and Armaguards are about the only people in Australia who can legally have weapons on them when out in public, and those aren't even concealed. Most people in rural areas will own a gun, and those that hunt, but otherwise pretty much no one here owns a gun. I read somewhere that there is one gun per person owned in America, and those are just the legal ones, to me that is astounding and ridiculous.

I agree, school should be somewhere students feel safe, there shouldn't be a need to have armed guards at schools. What happened in Newtown was so unbelievably tragic and it's sad to think it's only the straw that broke the camel’s back. I know many people say guns don't kill people; people kill people, but whatever. If the people can't get the guns then most of them won't kill people. There is never going to be complete gun control in the USA like there is in Australia, it's a deeply ingrained part of your culture (however strange I find it, I can't comment, every culture is different), but do people really have a need for automatic weapons? No, they are not useful for anything other than killing people in large numbers, something that seems to becoming alarmingly common in the US.

I know they have the second amendment, and never having studied American History I will say this is only my opinion, think about when the constitution was written, guns were hardly commonplace, and to me (Having studied the English Bill of Right, which heavily influenced their constitution, along with linguistics) the wording 'A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed' seems to me to mean something more along the lines that people have the right to raise an army to protect the freedom of the country, and at the time people in the army were required to supply their own weapons. I have a feeling that their forefathers didn't really mean that any walley can own a gun and wield it as he pleases; they wanted the people to be able to protect and fight for their newly gained freedoms...Although I suppose that could be an overly simplistic view...

Don't even get me started on the NRA, to me the whole thing just screams lunacy. It's almost scary a gun lobby has so much control over the government...It makes me scared for what could happen in Australia (and already is to an extent) with Gina Rinehart and the other big Mining Magnates and bosses...
The second amendment's right to bear arms comes from when the British army were requiring the colonists to house and feed the armed men but they didn't allow the colonists to have weapons themselves.  Though I believe they may have been allowed long rifles for hunting.

I do agree with the 2nd amendment in its basic form.  One should be able to have a rifle or shotgun - especially if you use it for hunting.  However, although most states have laws against automatic weapons, this is what you see used everywhere for these shootings.  Hand guns are the only questionable thing.  Way back when  where I live was the "old west" and there were few lawmen around, a hand gun was necessary.  Now, you can call 911. And well a hand gun is more likely to be used against you.

It's a big conundrum.  But armed guards in schools?  Seems like there should be a better way.  :-\
