Exactly! This is where we come to unwind, laugh, joke and get advice. I have enough drama in my RL don't need it in my escape from that :)

You know the saying " the devil makes work for idle hands" Phuck! Never has a truer word been spoken/written. A month or so ago we were discussing Facebook, remember ladies? And I said I thought it was "The Devil" Well I decided through sheer boredom over the Christmas to join a Twific fan page on Facebook. I thought it'd be like here, fans of fics discussing stories, sharing a joke, recommending other stories, and on the main it was but, phucking shit there was a lot of awfulness going on too. Bashing of stories, name calling, and I'm not necessarily talking about readers here! Someone called an author whose stories I've read and enjoyed and eagerly awaiting the completion of her current a wip a "f-ing loudmouth bitch"!  I've "meet" an author whose story I recommended on here a while ago; I want to go back and delete my recommendation and wipe her off of my "favourites" forever she was so vile! Call me stupid, actually do, do call me stupid because I've no idea what possessed me to venture into that hellhole to begin with, but the experience has totally scarred. It's like someone showed me the dirty, maggot infested, underbelly of Twific and I can't wash myself clean. I've been hovering around here for a day and couldn't bring myself to truly get involved, which pisses me RIGHT OFF as I've loved my time on PTS, everything in regards to Twifics feels a bit tainted at the moment.  Maybe I'm being overly dramatic or I'm too thin skinned but for the first time in months I picked up a book; the thought of reading a twific makes me feel slightly nauseous  :'(

So sorry to hear that you had to see the "underbelly" (unfortunately, the term so fits that experience) of Twific.  I totally know how you feel.  I quit FB after seeing too many authors, including popular authors, bad mouth each other and their stories and then the fanatical fangirls get on the bashing train.  It left a bad taste in my mouth and clouded my reading for a while too.  I hope that all of here will be able to give you the pick-me-up to kick all that negativity back to the hellmouth it came from so you can enjoy some good fics or at least some good conversation here at pts  ;)

I'm so glad for this great PTS crew of fellow twilight fanfic addicts who actually like to discuss and recommend stories and even when we don't all agree, we can still respect each other's opinion.  So, I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone here because you further my enjoyment of reading.  :-*
I would rather cuddle then have sex.  If you're good with grammar, you'll get it.

I actually have two fb accts, but I am rarely on. I usually look at the pics, which is probably why tumblr is so appealing. It is also so darn easy. You like it, reblog it. Then it is always in your archives. You never have to upload anything just hit the reblog. The main page is only full of people you follow and what they have blogged. Don't like what the are posting, unfollow. Thats all there is to it. I have a twitter but I am rarely there either.

I have learned over the years, that although your age may state you are an adult, some never grow up. Don't like something? Leave. You don't have to be an attention seeker and show everyone you are an arse.

Hope everyone had a nice christmas.  Mother in law has headed home. Sister and her family and mom and dad all have been and gone as well. It is great to have a full house, but now I am yearning for some peace and quiet. Next week, both sons will head back to college and hubs will start flying round the world again. Then I start back those 12+ hr days.

Haven't gotten much read. I have about 150 pages of Spy Games left.  It is a long one though. Almost 800 pages. No real heavy angst, just more drama really. I am getting the uneasy feeling, all is not what it seems though.

Being relatively new to the fandom (within the past 18 months) I actually haven't seen much of what you ladies are discussing, but I'm so thankful no-one is like that here. Sure, we'll laugh at spelling or terrible plots but it's certainly never malicious. I have seen reviews where people get incensed about the way a story is going and threaten to flounce, or berate the author.. they're doing it for free and taking their time to write a story. If you don't like it, don't read it. I really don't see the need to leave b i tchy little comments but people seem to think authors owe them a good story or a happy ending. That being said, sometimes authors replying to snide comments can also be petty. Personally, I don't understand why people get so up in arms but I suppose if you felt your writing was constantly being berated it could get tiring but in the real world of publishing it'd be even worse. It's a shame when people leave the fandom because of it though.

Savanablue, tumblr is really easy. You set up an account and look at people's blogs, if you like what they post you can like the post by clicking a heart button which will save it in a folder on your tumblr homepage. If you want to see all their posts, you just follow them like you would on twitter and then all their posts will show on your 'dashboard', which is sort of like the homepage on facebook. Once you get the hang of it, it's simple and if you don't like what someone posts.. just unfollow them!

Anyway, after all that nastiness, have some fluff: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login  Jar of Hearts by sunflowersongs. Edward is so sweet it's borderline sickening, but for those that like canon Edward it's fluffier than a marshmallow.

Oh, I don't like fluffy Edward either! Actually, I can't stay interested in a fic that is only Romance/Fluff. I won't even try to read them anymore. I think the last one I tried was Cotton Creek (was good, for sure just all fluff) but I flounced halfway through b/c...meh. I need drama, angst, heartfail. I prefer the jerk, the addict, the total bad boy, mobster, etc.

And I LOVE tumblr! I follow a ton of tattoo blogs and love it :)

I personally don't like fluffy fics above a certain word count because they just get boring. There's only so much unconditional love a cynic like me can endure in a story  ;)

Have you read Ride The Wind? You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login Probably one of my favourite Biker-wards. And the lemons.. well just don't read it in public is all I can say  :D

I love fluff  :D

But I love other stories as well. A story has to suit my mood and often enough I'm just not able to concentrate long enough to read overly dramatic, angsty stories. Here is always someone around, needing something... I love to read to clear my head from daily life.

For example I love the stories from Kayleigh Cullen1918

Her stories are sweet, funny, have enough drama to keep me reading and I know there'll be a HEA. What do I want more?

And I'm happy that Mara Sevvie seems to be back. Her stories are absolutely canon, snippets around the Twilight universe, "nothing" happens but character development and growth. But that she does great.

Hm, I lost what I wanted to say here... lol

Yeah, btw, can anybody rec me a site "Baseball rules for Dummies"? Santa got us a Wii for Christmas and my son is playing baseball, or trying to. We have all no idea what he is doing, he doesn't know himself... I think it would be more fun to know the rules... and perhaps I would finally understand what all those "first base"/"stealing x base" analogies mean... or perhaps you could help me out with that? That is a baseball analogy, right? I don't know anything about football, either...

Trying desperately to stay on topic, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login Don't read if you're sensitive as it's VERY dark and pretty creepy. For those of you who like horror style stories, it's a good'un.

Has anyone read Volition by RochelleAllison and can give an opinion on it? I see it recc'd all the time but I'm not sure if I'd like it.
