Don't you just hate it when an author starts a new fic yet she hasn't finished 3 other fics?!  ::). You get that sick feeling you'll be waiting a looooooooong time for her to finish any of them.  ??? Sigh

WEell, so long as it not being a HEA wont upset you, Mens rea was a really good story, well written, great mystery, kept you coming back for more, and fantastic characterizations.  I recommend it, with the non-HEA disclaimer :brokenheart:

Yes, I'm going to tackle Mens Rea next!

Agree. What makes things worse is the texting. If we keep texting in shortcuts, we do tend to forget how words are actually spelled. Have been conscious to spell out the entire words when texting my 13 yr old. daughter. however, am guilty of using shortcuts for the rest of my textmates  ;D
I think LOL is the only one I ever use. Oh and luv. I didn't start texting until I got an iphone & I mostly only talk to my husband who doesn't understand text-speak.  I think I've used more on twitter OMG!  LOL!

Sigh....I'm feeling old now..... :P

I have this one author I'm watching, Bexie25, I started one of her drabbles - it is now something like 400 chapters long - and still not done. Then there are 2 other drabbles and a couple of stories. She updates them all but I'm afraid to start anything.

However, I have seen stories that were done but not marked complete because the author was going to put up an epilogue .....someday.....  If an author seems to have abandoned a story I'm waiting on, I usually go to the last chapter and check the author's note.  If she says "well, that's it!", I consider it done enough to read.  If she says "next chapter's going to be a doozy!", I go away..... ;)

400 Chapters! Drabble or not that is LOOONG! Not sure I'd want to read such a long fan fic..Is it only me? Sometime I read the discussions on these thread and shake my head and I laugh out load at just how crazy we all are (and I say that with all the love in the world, and note my use of the word "WE")

I do the same thing! I'll look at how long the fic is at the last update and if it's substantial (I really don't read anything less than, like, 30k words anyways) I'll go the last chapter to read the notes.

I just saw the update for Wisp...  it seems to be turning out like Just Wait. The bible passage quoting *sighs* I'm a little disappointed  :(

LOL! It's only "drabble" in this case because the chapters are about 100-200 words long. And the story? Yeah, it's not a good drabble subject really. I read around 60 'chapters' and it felt like 2 regular chapters.  She was also updating about 5 chapters a day.  So really, it wasn't any longer than most of the other stories I tend to read.  ;)

I do hate this love of drabble though. I realize some authors do it for the challenge of writing daily. But most, in my opinion just do it for the review numbers.  And probably the hits.  Most of the stories are not good drabble stories.  :P

Glad you're enjoying it!!  I'm always happy to talk Jasper/Bella with anyone who enjoys that pairing.  It's definitely my favourite in the fanfiction world :)
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

I def'y enjoy it and am so glad I gave it a shot!

I even went on the search for hot Jasper pics so I have the perfect image in my head and the two I found....Yummo!!!

I'm sure I'll have more to comment on when I get through this fic, it's held my interest for over half the story, which says a lot lol.

Ooooh, Ella~
I ended up buying the calibre app. I haven't played with it too much yet (just downloaded it today) but it looks like it's going to be worth the $3. You can connect with your library via the content server or as a wireless device, pull up all metadata (awesome for summaries) and set up default programs that you use to read epubs, pdfs, etc.

If you like Just Wait, try Loner by Nilla.  Its still on FFn and is similar to Just Wait.  Also very well written.

God! I read Loner it was one of my first fic when I came to fandom in my virgin-whites 6 months ago. It was pretty harrowing, but it showed me the breathe of stuff being wrote in Twificland and I became hooked, obviously. I also have Just Wait in my TBR list but haven't got to it yet.
