I have a confession to make… I am one of "those" readers.  I have chosen to ignore a story because the author noted that it was there first story.  I have tried one or two, but usually bounce because I just couldn't go on.  Either the story started out completely boring or the SP&G errors were just too hard to get through.  I am sure I have probably missed out on a story or two that might have improved as the author continued.

That being said, I have to recommend a "first story" by a stated new author.  I found this story and when I read the note about it being a first story at the prologue, I was intrigued.  I continued reading and what I found was a story that not only had a good plot, but very few SP&G errors.  She did state she had a pre-reader and a beta, but the story was hers and with their "help", the story was, in one word, really good!

If you have time for a new story, check this out.  I don't think you will be disappointed!    :)

I will try another one. I think she has good ideas. She needs a story beta to help her write better. And she shows more promise than Tufano. She just rushes it I think.

I think becoming a beta is making me want to fix all these stories. I wish I was better at it.  ;)

I am not a beta, but I do find myself correcting SP&G errors in my head as I go.  Yeah, it takes forever for me to get through a story sometimes.   ;D

So far, I like dropbox the very best, but I don't have enough space there to store my real books AND my fic, and I dunno if I really want to pay. If I do decide to pay for storage, I'll probably go with something more secure, so no one can see what I have unless I want them to.

Plus, it's tough to find one that works good with Calibre AND has a decent android app so I can get my books easy onto my tablet. Dropbox and Drive have been the easiest to use, but Drive fubars the calibre library.

Right now I'm checking out Box, I think it gives 10gb free to start.

I have Box but haven't tried them again since they added the box sync. Have any luck?

Well, I totally messed mine up on Drive, so now it is just an extra backup.  And Copy is a backup. But I haven't found a good free one.  Supposedly Dropbox has a whole Calibre plugin or app or something like that.  But you have to get people to join to get free upgrades of memory.  And everyone I know has one already, so I can't get others to join.

I haven't tried Skydrive through Microsoft.  Also, if you are an iPad user, you may be able to use the Apple cloud.  I don't know how much space they give either.

It's all very  :banghead: :banghead: :021: :33: :pulling

I've tried both Skydrive and Google but either I can't seem to get them to work as I want or neither is capable. I want it to do as sugarsync did, I linked my calibre location to it and whenever I added or downloaded a new fic to my library, my sugarsync cloud auto updated to include it. If I have to try and remember to add the new fics, it will never happen or when I do remember it will take for freaking ever because how do you do that easily? I only use the calibre plug in to download so I would have to hunt down each individual fic to add it to the drive or copy the entire library again and that is just ridiculous on time.

I just got a 64 GB microSD card on sale for around $45.  So, technically, I can put a copy of my whole Calibre Library on it without a problem and just put it into my tablet when I need it.  But I have to remember to put it in my computer to update it.  :-[

And really? I don't want my whole Calibre library.  Just a portion of it.   I have too many stories I will never, ever, ever read.  I almost started deleting them all, but sometimes I get a request for one on one of the various sites to which I'm a member. I have to remember there are people who like reading about the wolfpack and Jacob/Bella stories.......  :D :D :D :D :D

Me, me, me! lol.

The one bad thing about my tablet is it has no SD card slot,  so I'm stuck with cloud storage unless I throw everything on there at once.
Only my Kindle doesn't have an SD card slot.  I have way too many toys, but my android tablet, nook tablet, android phone, laptop, desktop and netbook all have SD card slots of some kind.   Makes it easy ;)

So you should and don't forget about other fandoms as well.   :)   By the way, I am not a great lover of the Wolfpack unless it's are written by lifelesslyndsey, I much prefer the Volturi.  ;)
LOL! I do have some other fandoms.  Just mostly twifics and mostly Edward/Bella.  I also have some other pairings.  I'm not all that picky once I learnt how to grab pages at a time. When I had to copy and paste each link, I was much more picky LOL!

Sometimes I can ignore the SPaG errors.  Other times it just throws me out of the story.  I was reading something today where Bella was looking at a "nighty".  Now, I always have seen it written at "nightie"  So, then I'm stuck in my head wondering which is actually the correct way to spell it.  I guess I could Google it. I'm kind of thinking it isn't going to be in the dictionary.

And then there is the wonton behavior.  Now don't get me wrong, I love won tons - fried, in soup, filled with crab and cream cheese - but really?  It totally messes up the lemons....  :P :P :P

How about when the wrong "there" is used? That is so frustrating. I have to say that I can over look SPaG errors to a point, but there have been a couple of times that I have flounced a fic because they were just so bad that I could get around them in my head. It's a shame too, but cause there have been some fics that looked like a good story line if not for those issues.

Me, me, me! lol.
I sort by the "Date" column.  Everything I just downloaded, I highlight and right click - save to disk for the Google Drive and copy to library for the Copy Drive.  It's really pretty quick and you don't have to do anything, as far as going to each item and copying it.

It also makes it easy to coordinate to the library on the SD Card.  You just have to copy the full library to the card, then tell Calibre it's there & you can copy within Calibre to the Card.  I just had to start naming the libraries with a more descriptive name.  So complete fics - a, is my main library.  Complete fics - Copy is the Copy drive library, Complete fics - google is the Google Drive, well you get the idea.  Before I did that? I couldn't remember which was which and things were getting really messed up!  :P

Google is good for sharing stuff, but it won't work as a Calibre library.  Google renames the files and will drop the numbers in the filename, which messes up the database.  Fortunately, I had a backup that was still good, just not completely updated.  But the Google drive library actually crashed Calibre & I almost had to delete the program and start over.  So frustrating....

Though I did read a humorous story full of SPaGs.  I laughed so hard.  Some of it was the actual story, but really the SPaGs were perfectly wrong.  I mean if you could pick the perfect incorrect word to use? She picked it.    ;D

I moved a lot of my iTunes library to an external drive.  I should say that one of the reasons I bought the HP Dv7t 17 inch laptop was because it is able to take a second hard drive.  So I have 2 - 1 TB drives in my computer.  I still need to clean more off of it.  I went from having less than 200 GBs free to about 350 GBs free.   ;D

Going through last page:

Ellaenchanted: I love my Nexus tablet, and want the newer one. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that SD card slot, the Galaxy tabs come with one, the Nexus doesn't. But I know how to do everything on the Nexus. I could always just get the 32 gb one next time, lol, and a good cloud service that isn't too expensive by the year. Considering I don't buy a lot of my books, I'm kinda uncomfortable about using Amazon's cloud, know what I mean?

LucyLu: I haven't tinkered with Box yet beyond installing it on my computer and my tablet, I haven't tried to get anything onto my tablet through it yet. I've actually started using Calibre Companion more and more to get my books on there, so long as my laptop is open that works the best.

SPAG errors: I can overlook some, if the story is good enough, and the writing doesn't seem just plain juvenile. You can always tell when it's an adult who can't spell very well writing, vs some kid with no real life experience.

I can see that.  It's a pain to learn new systems.  I still don't use my tablet as much as I could.  I find I use my Kindle, phone, and laptop the most.  I would think most Android tablets would be similar. But thinking about my Nook Tablet compared to my Samsung Note 10.1, the Nook is more for reading.  Yeah, I can play games and watch movies on it.  But it has a bookshelf.  The Note Tab is more like a desktop - you have to open an app to read.  Games are easier to play and movies look better.  But some of that is the screen size and picture quality.

I wouldn't get a Windows tablet.  Their app store it where Android was around 3 years ago.

I volunteer with an international group of women, so some use American English and others use British English.  I am used to the extra u's in words, but recently found out about a couple other interesting spelling differences that I have also seen in fanfiction and first thought they were errors - jewelry/jewellery, defense/defence.  I'll have to be less critical of some errors in the future.

Um...hi ladies  :)

God, it's been a stupid long time since I checked in. My hubby and I decided quite quickly to pull both kids out of public school and homeschool a couple months ago so I've been busting my ass getting everything together for all of that. I haven't even read anything new, just re-read a couple of my favorite Jasper fics but I'm really wanting something new to read.

I've missed this place!
Hiya hun.
Wow!! You're one brave woman, there's no way I would home school my kids. Glad that is going well though.  :-*

That's like the word eyeing , I've seen so many times spelt eying.
I was taught to spell it with the extra e but apparently you can spell it both ways.
