Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Thank you so much ladies for the birthday wishes!!! I'm sorry, I'm so late to thank you, but it seems I can't find the energy these days to do more than work, eat and sleep with a little reading inbetween. No idea why though. Maybe it's the fog and rain all the time. I hope spring will wake me up soon!

I finished the Evan Arden Series by Shay Savage finally and really liked it and would recommend it! Also the Fallen Angels series by J.R. Ward had me totally hooked and I'm waiting impatiently for the next book.
At the moment I'm reading Soiled by Bornonhalloween and I'm liking it too!

After that I plan to start the Hopeless Series by Colleen Hoover ( I think somebody here recommended it) and as for fics I plan to read Holding On And Letting Go by Jenny0719 or House Of The Horde by Raggdolly.

Thanks again for your wishes and now back to catching up!

So she is finally done with these? It was so long this story started, that I might have lost my interest...

Yes, she said this is the last book for this series.

So, go read it! It's worth it and you could have started earlier, because the books all have different plots and can be read separate.

I decided to try a couple of BellaScotia's stories and enjoyed both though they don't make my faves list. Make note that Secrets and Lies has angst and An Education has a lot of lemons.

I flounced this one around Chapter 22 I think. I know that I keep repeating it, but I am not a fan of lengthy fics. There was a lot of "babbling" in my opinion, but maybe I wasn't in the mood for drama.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
I think I am a little harsh, I will give it another try the next time I'm looking for a angst fic.

For anyone who was at one time reading Suspicions:  The Tale of the Maybe Vampire by IrishLove, she has finally completed the fic.   It is in rough draft form but she didn't want to leave people hanging.

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
So I've been reading a bunch of get drunk in Vegas and find themselves married stories. Yeah, not the best. But I was willing to try to see if they are any good. The first had an Actorward. It was a little rushed and lots of SPaGs but I finished it. Second had billionaire Edward. All angsty - well Edward had a tragic past that you don't find out until the end. Then there is a substory with damaged Alice. It really doesn't fit with the story. And? They have kippers for breakfast. What American has kippers for breakfast.

Sigh. The next one is talking about getting pissed drunk. You got so drunk you peed yourself?  And Edward was a ranga?  Aaiiieeee.  You want to write Vegas/Seattle, don't use slang from other countries.

Thank you for letting me vent. ;)

Hahaha sounds like it was written by a Brit if they had kippers for breakfast and got pissed.  :D mind you, I don't know what a ranga is???. My pre reader and Beta always let me know when my British is showing LMAO.

Just googled ranga-- red and nearly ginger according to urban speak. I'd never have guessed that one, that fic needed a glossary.

Feel free to vent.

This is one of the things that drives me crazy.  My kids don't call me mum, I don't take the lift and a flat is a wooden pallet used in a warehouse in my world.

I have more respect for an author that just sets their story in another country than one who either doesn't look for an American beta or pre-reader or doesn't bother to do a little research.  I have flounced several fics where there were too many foreign terms for an American setting.

 :iagree:

Ranga is usually an Aussie term. And I understand it's not a compliment LOL!  Astro would have to verify that though. :)

It must be more widespread, because there were pictures of a ranga march in Edinburgh on the net.

I don't get this thing about people hating red hair, I love it. One of my school friends had gorgeous auburn hair and I can remember being a kid sitting in the church pew behind her, so jealous of how amazing it looked when the sunlight hit it. I spent years trying to dye my own boring mouse colored hair red. In fact I come over all unnecessary when I see a good looking, well built guy with dark red hair, especially if the hairs on his forearms are red too. (Must be the Celt in me.)  ;)

My mum is Canadian, and I'm a bit of an anglophile. So I know a lot of the terms. But it just is wrong when they take drugs you can't buy here instead of Tylenol or even aspirin.  : P

I add red to my blond dye so my hair is slightly strawberry blond. But every time I try to go red, my family gives me a hard time. I think certain shades are gorgeous.

I think I first heard the term from an Australian story. But it could be British too. They share a lot of slang. ;)

My mother had gorgeous auburn hair, I have dark brown with a bit of red, I really hoped one of my kids would have my Mother's hair color, instead they are both blondes like my husband.

I'm in a pretty weird mood. I think I became a statistic today. We're having a blizzard and I fell on the ice running out to get something to eat. My arm hurt pretty bad, but it didn't feel like I broke anything. I went to the deli and started feeling woozy. Next thing I know I'm sitting at a table and people are asking my name and stuff. Apparently I fainted and was out for a few minutes. Since I'm unemployed and have no health insurance, I decided to high tail it out of there since they called an ambulance and I didn't want to be charged for it. I assured the deli patrons that I was fine and was just dehydrated. Could be true. I just went home--though I fell on the ice again. It's been 6 hours since and while my arm is really hurting now, I don't think I'm going to get myself checked out. I'm thinking that while it was weird, it's not that big of a deal. If I had insurance, I would probably go for an examination on my arm and mention the fainting thing. But I don't, so I become an unrecorded statistic.
