Thread #5 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

I'm in a pretty weird mood. I think I became a statistic today. We're having a blizzard and I fell on the ice running out to get something to eat. My arm hurt pretty bad, but it didn't feel like I broke anything. I went to the deli and started feeling woozy. Next thing I know I'm sitting at a table and people are asking my name and stuff. Apparently I fainted and was out for a few minutes. Since I'm unemployed and have no health insurance, I decided to high tail it out of there since they called an ambulance and I didn't want to be charged for it. I assured the deli patrons that I was fine and was just dehydrated. Could be true. I just went home--though I fell on the ice again. It's been 6 hours since and while my arm is really hurting now, I don't think I'm going to get myself checked out. I'm thinking that while it was weird, it's not that big of a deal. If I had insurance, I would probably go for an examination on my arm and mention the fainting thing. But I don't, so I become an unrecorded statistic.

That is horrible hun, I hope there is nothing seriously wrong.  Is there no-where you can get medial attention?  Us Brits complain about the National Health Service but thank God for it.

That's all fine and good but, you don't want to be one of those unrecorded statistics.
You really need to get it checked out.
(I know it's easy to say when we have the NHS but, it is better safe than sorry)

I hope you are okay.

Did you hit your head when you fell?

If you can move your arms and fingers it may just be bruised. Im assuming you had on a heavy jacket or coat?

The fainting is a little worrying though. Do you live with someone who can keep an eye on you?

Because of the blizzard I was wearing layers and a long wool coat. Add my layers of personal insulation and my butt was well cushioned. I landed only a little weird on my arm. I think I twisted it or something as it hurts to extend it, but I can move all my fingers fine.

I did not hit my head at all, so I'm not sure why I fainted. It's a little weird. Maybe it was the pain?

My roommate just got home, so maybe I'll tell him, but we aren't getting along right now, so I'm debating. Maybe I'll ask him to make sure I'm up in the morning. Then, I'll see how I'm doing.

I'm sure I'll be fine. Thanks for the well wishes!

Wow, don't they have any clinics or options available where you live for people who don't have health insurance? I live in Canada so, we don't really have those issues. Your health is nothing to take for granted. I hope that you are ok, and are able to work it out to get checked out.

Maybe you were really hungry, that's why you fainted? Oh dear, i hope it really is nothing serious but please please please tell your roommate right now what happened to you.

Let us know how you are.  :-*

I hear you, i just want a nice grown up story, with an actual plot. Everything seems to be childish drivel and I have no patience for it.

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Wisp updated. I did have to read the last chapter as I couldn't remember what happened. ;)

Otherwise, I can't help with grown up type stories. Everything lately has been not so great. Except maybe Sacrifices by Enthralled.  I've been looking for something good as well. But then it may be me. There are a lot of good stories I haven't read yet.  I just haven't been in the mood for them. :P

That is why I end up waiting for WIPS to complete before I start to read them.  That and the angst factor of this fic too. I WANT to read it, but don't dare until it is complete.

I seem to just be finishing/reading the WIPs i followed. Fire & Ice was really great. The last few chapters of How To Live With A Moviestar was just ok. The epi of Sexy Silk didn't entice me to reread the whole thing (god, forgot how annoying Pita and Tulip was and i promptly skipped those portions).

I ended up reading rock chick rescue instead (the 2nd book of the series) and am loving it. Will try to go back to a fanfic after this one...

Isn't it funny? When you first start reading fanfic, you feel guilty about all the pubbed books you own but aren't reading, but after awhile, you feel guilty when you take a fic break and read a pubbed book!

 Well said, Matron! I have the same feeling! That's why I alternate between pubbed books and fics. One pubbed book, then one fic. Works fine at the moment for my guilty conscience.

*wildly shakes head in disbelief*  But I have over 20,000 stories in my fanfic library!!!

Okay, I will never read half of them because I don't do noncanon at this point.  :D :D :D

I keep making the mistake of reading things right before I'm about to pass out in bed, and it seems cool or okay when I'm reading it at the time, but then when I go back after I'm well rested and coherent I just can't help but wonder why I thought it was worth reading. I have a huge list of links to stories I've read and enjoyed, but lately, I'll read a chapter or two before I flounce  :confounded:

On a second note, I am the biggest baby when it comes to angst. I've been burned so many times in the Romance/Angst tag that I have to skip to the last chapter to see if all the angst in the middle is worth moving forward with. It usually is, but sometimes it's not. I don't write at all so I wonder what authors are thinking when they're writing. Lots of times the angst is dragged out to the point where I wonder why I bother reading, and other times there's just a dash of angst thrown in for added dramatic measure which seems so pointless but I guess it's boring to write about sunshine and rainbows. Edward is always a brooding manwhore, Bella is normally insecure and quick to forgive all indiscretions  /end rant

I can't find anything to read either. BTW, thank you to everyone that recced Holding On and Letting Go! I loved it.

I can't find anything to read either  :(

I've flounced more than I've actually read in the past few months. And part of the problem is that I can't find a Bella I like. I can't find one that isn't cliche after cliche or just completely unrelatable to me.

The last story I read that I loved (months and months ago)? Was Dusty.  The last story I read and flounced (Two days ago)? There Will Be Blood.  Which stinks because There Will Be Blood started off so good. It sucked me right in. My biggest issue? Bella again.  I felt like I was supposed to have this impression of her that she was so mature and level headed. But in reality? She was 18 years old.

Lamelurker - Could it be exhaustion? If you are sure you haven't hit your head, but you still fill weird tomorrow, you can always call a clinic. Hope you feel better soon  :-*
