I would like to go on record that RP is only remotely attractive in the twilight movies.

The problem with the Twilight movies was the inconsistency of the makeup and hair - the only one who stayed "in character" for all the movies was Charlie.

As crazy as it sounds, I thought RP looked his best when he was promoting Cosmopolis - scruffy and brooding, dressed to the nines or casual - he looked great.  Surprising considering it was right after the KS betrayal.  I have to say too, that he looks better when he is on his own, less schlepy.

Ooops, sorry to be slacking Anch but RL is quite hectic. I did make an effort to ask the newbies sometime in Jan. But i got no reply from them .... So, let's try this again:

:welcome:  to our newbies and not so newbies

Pls let me welcome you to our thread by asking the following questions
Where are you from?
How tall are you?
What is your shoe size?
What is your bra size?

Don't worry, majority of us here have already shared this, and more as you will find out reading the past threads.

Hope you guys stick around and join the fun.

Dasbaiyo, i was sorely tempted to ask you the size of that unique body part that makes you a male,  but that would be way too intrusive already.  ^-^ :-\ So, my additional question to the only guy i know in this thread is:
Are you single?
We have a lot of lovely single ladies here  ;) But, this is not really a dating site (might feel incestous, bec after sharing our inner selves here, we are like family). I look forward to hearing your thoughts about the topics we randomly discuss around here. Will be good to see a man's perpective, not only of those females here who are single/married, with/without kids.  :). Hey, have you ever heard of the Diva Cup?  :D :D

I currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I'm about 5'7" / 170 cm (and yes I know that's very short, I'm Asian.)
Shoe size: Mens 7.5
Bra size: ---

Yes, I'm single.
Diva cup: assuming it's the receptacle I'm thinking of, yes I have.

wrt angst, I can definitely handle angst.  All of my WIPs are angsty to different degrees.  But I do like to have a HEA in the multichapter stories that I read. O/Ss don't matter as much.

I think Esme's look stayed fairly consistent too, but she kind of faded into the background in the movies. The hair was the worst in the movies, my lawd. Jasper's wigs just got worse and worse, and I think it kinda sucked that the woman that played Rosalie dyed her hair in the first one, then refused for the rest. Couldn't they have found someone who was already blonde, so that wouldn't have been an issue?

Personally, I LOVED Alice's hair in the second movie, and have used that picture as a go to for my stylist more than once. But by the last films, it was fairly flat and dull, not Alice like at all.

"Esme's" hair went dark in a couple of them.  I guess she didn't wear her wig all the time. And? The actress looked much better with Esme's hair color than her own.  Her own made her look old and tired.

I could never figure out why they didn't get a real blond to play Carlisle, Rose and Jasper.  Because really? No one knew them.  So it made no sense to me.  There are tons of blond actors and actresses that would have done just as good a job as they did. Without the wigs....

But I did think Ashley Green made a great Alice.  She had the perfect perkiness.

I agree, Ashley Green was probably the best casting in that series. To me, Kellen wasn't nearly big enough for how Emmett was described, Nikki Reed (is that right?) wasn't NEARLY as gorgeous as Rose was described, and K Stew looked just right, but can't act, or couldn't in those movies.

I also preferred the first Victoria, even though she never really got to say much.

I totally agree, I annoyed my daughters because I told them several times that I pictured another actor as Jasper when I read the books.   He would be a little old for the part, but most of them were.  I imagined Thad Luckinbill (sp?) - tall, blond and hot, at least he was when he was on The Young and the Restless.

I preferred the first Victoria also, Dallas Howard came across as trying too hard and again the hair wasn't consistent with the original Victoria.

Oh I could see Thad doing it! He's always looked young for his age.

:) And can be sweet and charming or strong and commanding - that's why I pictured him when I was reading.

Malaysian Chinese. When I was younger ( and slim), I spent a few months in HongKong and when I go shopping in a store run by  Filipinos, they always speak Tagalog to me. I was told that I look Filipino. After I put on weight, I was told that i don't look Filipino anymore.

I am Filipino with some Chinese blood. People mistake me for Chinese or Japanese. When i went to those countries, i am also mistaken as them so they also try to speak to me in their language :P. Malaysians, Indonesians and Filipinos look alike. We share some common words in our language as well.  :)

Guess the caucasians suffer the same fate. At least they will first be spoken to in English so they will likely understand. Only when they speak and we hear their accents do we figure out they're not Americans but Brits, Aussies, French, Germans... Oooh, but the Italians and Spaniards with their complexions, you immediately know they are Europeans   ;)

I hadn't even heard of the books before seeing the movie. So I didn't have preconceived notions. Even though I'm a huge Vampire Academy fan girl, I haven't seen the movie because I'm disappointed by the casting.

Ah it seems like just yesterday there was drama over the casting choices. Both Kristen and Nikki were cast based off of previous work with the first director. I never really had a problem with the cast as much as the awful makeup. Eyes described as gold (which still kills me) in the book were orange on film. I dunno. When I pictured gold eyes I was assuming they'd be closer to hazel.

But everything bad about the films is what helped make them so campy and silly

*sigh* The plight of the ignorant.  FWIW, there are common words in Mandarin and Japanese (and Taiwanese sort of).

Why couldn't they cast blondes to play blondes?

Those awful wigs

This!  I haven't thought much about Esme, but I know that Nikki Reed is not my Rosalie, but I'm having trouble as to who she might be.  That said , regarding Alice, the Alice in my head is shorter than Bella, whereas Ashley Greene and Kristen Stewart are about the same.  And Rosalie is a decent bit taller than both.

Re: HELP!? Calibre issues?
« Reply #5059 on: March 15, 2014, 08:46 AM »
Oh my wonderful All Knowing Calibre friends! Help! I had something very odd happen today when I went to download a completed fic into my Calibre using FFN plug in. It came up like everything was normal but when it said it was done downloading I can't find the story ANYWHERE. I searched the author to find nothing, I searched the title still nothing. I even went into my documents file to find my Calibre library there and found the author and the story is just not there.  Yet if I try to download it again it tells me that the story already has 3 chapters and doesn't need to be updated. Any thoughts or ideas that might help?

Okay, I think I might have figured it out.  I was downloading CayStar's Contest Entries. And I think what happened is she must have changed the title (It used to be called Three Little Words) and put all her contest entries in it instead of starting a new story to put them in.  I only figured this out as I went into Calibre and changed it to show the latest updated fics and Three Little Words came up. Everything still looks like it should be Three Little words, all the metadata for it and all. But the word count is now much higher and it has 3 chapters. So I went in and clicked on the last page to see what the last sentence is and low & behold it is the last sentence of Contest Entries, "Due Process".

Sadly, I tried to update the Calibre metadata to match that of FFN but it won't change for me. So I guess I'll have to do it manually?
