It's official I HATE April's Fools Day as apparently I've got a family full of jokers.

*It started off with my brother-in-law telling me, him and his b/f have brought their wedding forward to tomorrow and they need me to try and sort out their Stag do for tonight.
*Then my Mum rang me to say that her and my Dad had been arrested for have sex in public (which wouldn't surprise me)
*Then my Daughter just about gave me a heart attack when she came in with a pregnancy test, telling me she was pregnant!!
Turns out she found the pregnancy test in one of our boxes and thought it would be funny to wind me up.

So I'm cancelling April 1st next year.

Funny! The only thing i got scared about there was your daughter! OMG, i dont know what i'll do if that happens to me

Thankfully, being away on vacation has spared me from pranks. Having a lovely time so far. Been here less than 48 hours, my feet are tired from all the walking but the weather is nice. When else can i sleep at 3am reading Rock Chick Regret and wake up at 9:30 bec my son (bunking with his dad) rings our doorbell (am sharing with my daughter) asking what time we will leave. Hubby and my daughter still asleep while i'm here catching up on the thread. So nice not having to be in a rush to get to work or waking up early to go to work.

my biggest concern is what food we should try next.

thank God vacations were invented!

And can i say this technology and profiling thing are scary amazing. Not only was PTS showing me the hotels i looked at in agoda, now i am seeing korean ads on food

And all that previous talk on, why are we suddenly seeing shoe ads when we were talking aout shoe sizes/stinky feet? Yeah, big brother is watching.

Now, should i really feel offended i saw some weight loss ads before?

I much prefer the angry Bella revenge outcome, that doesn't necessarily end happy, but it ends with a forlorn Edward going through the motions of his sad, sad life

I like those too! But there aren't very many of them.....Mamasutra has Under The Blood Red Sky which is a continuation/sequel of Blue Moon by Nashtheory which ended in a way that Mama didn't like

; it's kinda cool and has a very, very different take of the twilight vamps mythology. You will need to read Blue Moon first though. Actually thinking of it, Mama's cheater fics don't necessary have a redeemable Edward (in most of them he's just a cheater, full stop) and in quite a few Bella walks and keeps walking...

Contrary to what I said a few pages ago I am still reading my way through the J D Robb bibliography...I'm on my 4th story but I am now able to spot the 'baddie' the moment they step on the page...that can't be good, can it? As it's not because I've a genius crime detection mind, so it must be down to Robb's....how shall I say it,....predictability? Still I'm enjoying them...

Jeez. I just realized I've been religiously reading fanfic in my spare time for almost an entire year now. Last May I checked on something I flounced on in 2009, and have since been coasting along on a little loveboat headed down the fanfic river taking in all the things to be seen along the way. Where does the time go?

Yeah the ad profiling…

The mention of Rosalie reminded me that when I was looking up stuff on Cheaterwards, it seemed like Rosalie was the most obvious Other Woman, besides Tanya in Vamp fics. The post was a couple years old, but I have seen a couple Rosalie/Edward stories (most are actually in the link to the group demaris provided above) where the reason why they seem so insufferable as canon characters is because they’ve had this burning desire for one another for nearly a century and they’re just fooling themselves into settling for other people. I guess the authors make it AU, because it completely casts aside SM’s whole mate deal. I didn’t personally like Rosalie enough as a character to further delve into anything concerning her, but I HAVE read one or two where I liked what the author did with her character.

This one was incomplete but I really liked Rosalie in this. All Human Rosalie/Edward fic, and Rosalie was still super abrasive and cold, and I just wish it didn’t have Bella as the side girl that Edward has to choose between.

Does anyone else have a hard time dropping the preconceived notions they have with certain characters in fanfiction? I do and I think it's why I have such a hard time reading non canon couples. When I'm trying to immerse myself in whatever the author has written I just can't detach myself from the characters I have in my head. That's why I don't mind reading non canon stories where I know the "regular" canon spouse isn't present. I could read an Edward/Tanya fic where Bella wasn't Edward's meek little girlfriend before her, or a Bella and Jasper fic where Edward isn't even a thought and Bella's not running to the comfort of Jasper's arms after Edward did something unforgivable.

One time I tried to read a Leah/Edward fic and Bella was described as his annoying clingy girlfriend, and it so hard to go from one extreme to the other because it reminds me of 90% of the stories I read where any other female is merely there as a plot device that the characters need to overcome in order to get to their happily ever after. An example would be any story where Bella and Edward get together and Jessica/Lauren/Tanya/Victoria are in the background as an ex-girlfriend or someone for Bella to compete with, even though in the 90% of stories I'm describing, Bella is a magical goddess with absolutely no flaws and the obvious choice.

I guess I appreciate when the secondary characters are a bit more fleshed out, because it adds more to the story and these characters aren't just there to act like gnats; annoying and not really needed. The Practice of Love by belladonnacullen is the only example I can think of off the top of my head where I enjoyed reading more about Edward's relationship with someone that wasn't Bella. It added to the story's description of his character in a way that I wasn't waiting for her character to be killed off.

Sorry I'm SO bad at explaining myself, but basically it's just hard for me to go from reading a certain character for the longest time and then trying to get a grasp on what someone is writing where that same character is in a completely different frame of mind.

Tanya is the obvious choice, but I was referring to Edward and Rosalie. This is the story I'm thinking of and I've seen a few more like it where the REAL REASON that Rosalie is described so cold is because she's really in love with Edward and they have a super special love hate relationship because they're just denying their ~true feelings~

I get some interesting ones that I can kind of trace back to searches I've made. I'm still waiting for a picture of Prince Albert to show up from a piercing studio. Goes well with the erectile disfunction ads and penile implant emails. Because if I implanted a penis and gave it ED medicine, I probably wouldn't need my husband.

Same here. I only ever read Edward/Bella ones. The few times i've read a diff pairing, it was just at the start like Emmett or Jasper was Bella's ex but they remained friends and she ended up with Edward in the story. I want my HEA and it must be E/B

I know many of us have now read The Bronze Horsemen, and can readily acknowledge that this author's talent for putting you away wet is probably second to none, she guts you and makes no apologises...This book, which was published between Book 2 and 3 of TBH, is a whodunit in essence but to compartmentalise it into just one genre is doing this story a great disservice. It reintroduces Spencer O' Malley the flawed, avenging detective from Red Leaves (which I loved!) and it is so, so, so well written. It's an odyssey of half truths and secrets and never quite figuring out what's lay behind the curtain. This isn't as angsty as TBH though there are moments and it isn't as easy a read, the prose is more fragmented, abstract. The heroine (Lily Quinn) isn't as instantaneously likeable as Tatiana Metanova, in fact she's a bit annoying at first, and O'Malley might not be as dashing as Alexander Belov but he is definitely the stuff romantic heroes are made of. Both these characters stake a claim enough to get the tear ducts to overflow. 3.8* A really enjoyable read...

Demaris... you had me at TBH! ;-) I haven't read anything else by this author... I'm afraid I'll be comparing it all to TBH which I consider the best books ever written, hands down! EVER!

So if I'm going to try something else by her would you start with Red Leaves?

I'm with you. I could only maybe read a non-E/B if one or the other wasn't in the story.

And? Other than E/B? I am mostly okay with non-canon couples. I've seen some where Rose is such a B*tch, Emmett finally dumps her and finds someone else. And some where Alice ends up with someone other than Jasper.
