An Unconventional Friendship by Booked

There's a saying: People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Friendship that knows no faces, borders nor boundaries...only boobs, feet and height. Some don't understand how physical distance is overcome by friendship... Forging an inexplicably stronger connection thru a love for fanfiction, books, and Edward. Life experiences shared enriching each others lives... No judgments, just acceptance and support from all. A happy place to be, a friendship that could stand the test of time zones.

Twilight - Rated: XXX - English - Friendship/Humor - Threads: 5 - Words: no way can anyone keep up to count, despite our OCD - Reviews: non-stop - Favs: innumerable - Published:10-20-13- Mostly Bella, Edward - WIP (that everyone is willing to follow)

 :-*

Sounds great - which means ff.net will put it on their naughty list as soon as it updates!

You're so clever Booked - you really should try fic'ing something - even just a one-shot for a contest, perhaps?

I'll volunteer to beta for you.

Yes, but can we flag it yet?   :(

Nope - it only flagged 12/15 chapters.

Fortunately I am now such a tech expert that I can calibre it!  ;D

I'm off to Canada at an ungodly hour in the morning.  I've never been.  I'm flying into SeaTac and driving. So I'm trying to decide if I'm going to put Forks on my itinerary.  It takes me out of the way since I'm headed to Vancouver, but I could take the ferry from somewhere near Forks to Victoria, then another ferry from Victoria to Vancouver.  What do you think?  Should I go out of my way?

I'm sooo excited!

Please let me know how this pans out for you! I have a week in Seattle next July and am toying with the idea of popping up to Canada.

I want to know if taking a hire care from the US into Canada makes it even more expensive, or if I should just get another car when I arrive in Canada.

Safe travels!

I don't know much about these stories...  are you saying that ultimately its a Edward x Victoria story?  And not ExB?   Ahhhh! Definitely not my thing if so.   :o

Oh no it's ExB, I was just trying to explain the 'changes' in the characters in the 3rd instalment of the Storm series to something that I hope everyone could understand. Basically there is a few characters in the series that were annoying for the first few chapters and then all of a sudden even their poop smells like roses.

I'll let you know how it goes, but I'm renting a car in Seattle to drive to Vancouver.  My friend who lives in Vancouver says everything in Canada is more expensive than in the US.  I'm flying into Seattle and renting a car, rather than flying into Vancouver because of the big difference in airfares.  I did not check to see if car rentals in Vancouver were more expensive than in Seattle. I just checked to make sure it wasn't a problem to drive a rental over the border.

I remember hearing about someone travelling somewhere (I should have paid more attention!) and they had to pay a premium on the hire car because either they were traveling into another country or they were travelling on a ferry.

I obviously have a lot more research to do before my trip!

I know you drive on the wrong side of the road in the US - what about in Canada?

We drive on the right side of the road everywhere in North America.  *Hmpff*
If we didn't, I doubt I would drive in Canada.  I would immediately get in a head-on collision.

You are not the first to chide me for my "mum" characteristics.  With my daughter in college, middle child in high school and the youngest now almost 10 - they're all trying to get me to curb my mumness.  I'm working on it with the older two.  Not ready yet with my baby.

That's gonna throw me!  However, the friend I'm visiting is an American.  She'll help me through the maze of the metric system.  While understanding my befuddlement.

I am a little - a lot! - nervous about that.

I entertained an entire busload of passengers in Belgium by running to catch the bus then having to walk a full circle around the bus because the door was on the wrong side!  :-[

Crossing the street in Europe and Asia on foot was challenging enough, let alone being behind the wheel!
But, if I can survive being a pedestrian in Vietnam, driving in Washington State should be a breeze - I hope!

Not sure about car rentals but items definitely cost more in Canada compared to the US. And since you're going to Vancouver they have two taxes for items, 5% federal tax and 7% provincial tax, so you have to pay 12% for tax.

Is the tax included in what's on the price tag or is it added at the register?

Here, if something is marked as $5, it costs $5 (the taxes are included), but I remember when I was a kid visiting the States for the first time, having to constantly go back and get more money from Mum or Dad when it was time to actually pay for something.

And tipping? We don't usually tip here. I always feel awkward tipping - I never know what to tip for or how much to tip! What are the rules in the US and Canada?

I don't know about Forks, but I love Victoria.  Buchard Gardens are there. So beautiful.  Okay so beautiful in the summer.  May not be as pretty now. ;)

The ferries are also a lot of fun. But may be pricy with a car. It's been a while.  Have fun!

You are braver than me.  Usually when I'm in a foreign country I prefer public transport, but this trip is mixed and...it's Canada!  How different can it be?

I guess I'll find out.

I don't even drive in Mexico.  Well, maybe once...many, many years ago. But those people are crazy!
