This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general. But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Am biased towards actorwards:

The Man who can't be moved is the 2nd fanfic I ever read and loved it. It's in my top 10, not perfect, found it a bit long, but just loved it.

Also loved V&V, also in my top 10

Sexy silk has a diff Bella so i enjoyed that one too.

tropic of virgo is a great HS fic

Comp sem is in my Top 11 (lol)

The rest i haven't read and can't comment.

Kim, if i were you, i would read in this order MWCBM, Comp, VV, ToV then sexy Silk (angsty, sweet/funny, funny/angsty, angsty, funny). You also interchange /mix up the type of wards so hoepfully you don't confuse them/the stories as you read the others

Isn't Sexy Silk the one where Bella calls her hoohaa tulip? That just freaked me out. $:-\$

I just updated FFDL and tried to download and all I got was empty chapters.

Did you shut down Calibre and re-open it? For some reason, just updating it doesn't actually update it. You have to restart Calibre. And though it says it will do it for you, I always end up having to manually shut it down and start it again.

Let me know if that helps. I was able to download without any problems in the new version

For some reason Tulip and PITA didn't bother me that much. Edward is so sweet.

I just use the 'regular' downloader. I'm computer stupid and couldn't find my way out of a box if I had to.

I did close out that version when I downloaded the new version, and it re-launched it upon install. I will close it out and restart it and see if that helps.

FFDL is by a different guy using the same basic program - it's a free program anyone can take and do what they want with. So he probably hasn't updated it yet. The problem happened this afternoon because the Calibre plugin was working this morning. I think he lives in Sweden, so he may not update it until tomorrow...

And then you need to download Love Rescue Me so you have the EPOV. It is only pages LOL!

I just downloaded Love Rescue Me as well, I don't know if I will ever read these two, that is over 4000 pages together!!! I guess if it reads well, I might try it someday.

I don't want to alarm anyone but I think Calibre's FFDL is up the spout again....God I hope FFN aren't f*cking about again!

EDIT Is anyone else experiencing problems?

It's 5 in the morning but I can confirm FFDL is not working.

I just updated calibre and downloaded stories a few minutes ago and it work fine.

OMG! Totally understand. I think I have around 20K files in my fanfic folder before I started using Calibre. And I have even more on Calibre now.

If you set it up using my instructions, then import your mobis and PDFs, convert to epubs, then highlight, change the settings to Update Epub Always, Get URLs from selected books, and then update all. It will look for the stories, it they are still there, even if only the first chapter, it will pull the info. Then you can delete the epub if you don't want it. But don't forget to change back to Update only if new chapters. It actually worked really well for me.

I just finished using FFDL everything looks good to me.

I actually found FFDL didn't work and it was the newest one. Double check. It seems to download but the chapters were blank. It's very strange. But Calibre is working, I did check.

I just get by with Calibre and I know just some basic functions such as converting and downloading stories and nothing else. A lot of you mentioned about organing files in Calibre. My question is why we need to keep files organized in Calibre? What's the advantage of doing so? After I convert/download the stories, I just move them to my regular C:drive so I don't know what I'm missing here...

Ok, I'm in the market for something new to read. After reading Allegiant (Divergent #3) I guess I need light on the angst and heavy on the schmexy! So, some questions...

Does Comp Sem 101 have plenty of lemons? I've heard nothing but positive things about this one... funny, sweet, schmexy.

Tropic of Virgo --- Is he famous in a band or is he a high school kid?

The Blessing and the Curse --- Is this great? It's not vampward, right? Lemony? I'm not really sure what its about but I've heard it recommended here a lot.

There is a Light --- he's famous in this one, right? Did everybody love this one?

Virgins and Villains, Sexy Silk, The Man Who Can't Be Moved --- Are these all REALLY good or are they just another "he's famous, she's not and she thinks she's not good enough for him"? I've read that kind of story so many times I'm tired of it, but when its done right it's great! I'd like to read another Famousward but the last couple I've read haven't been that great. Just ok.

Tropic of Virgo and There Is A Light are one of my favorite fics. There Is A Light even more. I would give my left hand for this fic.

))) But I felt the focus not so much on him being famous, but yes he is in There Is A Light. I recognized so much of my own life in this, maybe that's why I love it so much.

The Blessing And The Curse was an original plot, but it's not a favorite of mine. But a lot of people praise it high. Maybe just not my case.

Haven't read the other fics yet.

Hahaha, I know the feeling! I'm constantly re-organizing and tidying up my Calibre and I'm always thinking to do only this and this and then I'm feeling better. But I find always one more thing to do which takes me months...

Good thing I adore this program, it's fun for me to work with it.
