It looks like we are planning a boycott again

Well written complaint.  I want to say I do understand ads.  That's the main way they make money.  But lately I can't see the stories on the author pages because of a floating ad on my phone. It's hard to read when the link is under the ad. 

But whatever.  I won't go there on the 1st of November. 

PREACH! I've been saying we need to do something as a collective....Ad I don't care about at all, I never read FFN on my phone or iPad and  I've got adbock on my computer so....I definitely will boycott on the 1st.

Count me in! I don't read at any of the sites. I always flag and read it on my ipad. Any new updates/chapter in the 3 WIPs i'm following i also flag (i delete previous copies). So its no hardship not to visit ffnet, it's their blocking flag that's killing me. Read that Glycerine is done (is that right?) but can't download it until i use calbre on my PC this weekend. 

Oh and i just completed Blood and Glory, fabulous!!! Off to begin Sin and Innocence. Love her writing!!

Yes, aWhiteBlankPage (author of Pocket Change) is an aweasome writer.  All her stories are so gripping and so compelling.  Have you read her one-shot The Girl Who Jumped?  It's a great story.  No surprise that it won 1st prize for the FicThisGIF contest.

 

Hey Ladies,

Life has been nuts.  I have been reading but no time to post.  My 11 yr old son who just entered 6th grade (middle School) got suspended for 1 day for defending himself from a bully who was pushing him around on the play ground and calling him names.  So my son pushed him back and told him to keep his hands off of him or he will kick his ass.  Not that I approve with my sons choice of words, but, I am proud of him that he stood up for himself and took a stand.

Also with school we had a district wide meeting about new security measures that are being implemented in our county.

In an effort to increase safety and security at local schools, County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced plans to distribute five wireless Panic Alarms to each school in Nassau County. The panic alarms connect directly with the Nassau County Police Department’s (NCPD) Communications Bureau.

“Terrible tragedies such as Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and yesterday’s events at Sparks Middle School outside Reno, have left many families, administrators and faculty feeling concerned about security,” said County Executive Mangano. “While we hope to never face such a situation, residents should know that Nassau County is leading the nation with new measures to protect our children."

When activated by the push of a button, the wireless panic alarm establishes a two-way microphone between the alarm and the NCPD and will stay activated and record until terminated by the police. The alarm also provides a GPS location, thereby generating an accurate location for responding police officers. This unprecedented program helps provides law enforcement with real-time intelligence that is critical to saving lives.

The new Panic Alarm program builds on County Executive Mangano efforts in partnering with Nassau BOCES to instantly provide local law enforcement with camera feeds and digitalized floors plans for all Nassau County schools that participate in the program. County Executive has also hosted six Active Shooter Seminars that examine the tragic events which unfolded in Connecticut, provides school training and addresses the NCPD’s procedures in responding to an “Active Shooter” situation should one occur.

An active shooter is defined as an armed person who has used deadly physical force on other persons and continues to do so while having unrestricted access to additional victims. This could include deadly physical force by means of a gun, knife, or other weapons.

This just scares the living daylights out of me.  I mean yes i understand the reasoning behing this but what scares me is that it is necessary.

My nephew has a very severe concussion and is on "Brain Bed" rest for 2 weeks.  Nothing but laying in bed a very hard thing to do for a 16 yr old active boy.

Quick question.  Besides Calibre and storymaster there is no other way to upload the stories right?  Flag and FFdownloader were the only ones that I was able to use at work.  StoryMaster is blocked and calibre is on my laptop at home.

Wow!! It really has been hectic for you hun. 
I'm proud of your son hun, why should he just stand there and take the bullying, it's a shame he got suspended for it though hun. I hope the bully was also suspended as well.
That is really scary knowing that these measures are needed in this day and age.
I know how what it's like to have bad concussions but I've never had to rest for 2 weeks - 2 days max, with the hubby having to constantly wake me every hour or so which isn't that hard for someone who suffers from insomnia. 

Aww that's sweet of you to think of me, I'm okay - me and bump are doing well.
Me and the hubby are arguing over what to name her but all is fine. 
But as for your nephew I'm sure he's enjoying the time doing nothing.

I'll have to watch it "On Demand", I've always wanted to see a walrus get jerked off. :DI actually quite like Storymaster for an alternative to Flag - I'm a bit of an addict when it comes to covers on my fics so I just upload them onto Calibre, find the cover on Google and then add it that way.
Otherwise Storymaster is a good place to download your fics from, so I would definitely recommend it if FFDL is still going to be sabotaged by FFnet.

I laughed so hard last night, a friend phone to ask if I was watching, we were both in hysterics.  I only discovered the joys of Gogglebox because my niece made me watch it last week.  I am so grateful she did, it has to be the best thing on TV, vastly better than anything they actually watch. 

Storymaster is pretty cool but it is not my fav, I still prefer Flag for the one off fic.

I have never signed into Storymaster. I just put in the url, choose the format, enter my email and press the send button, that has always worked for me.

Hi all!  I've been lurking because I've been all caught up in Jodi Ellen Malpas' This Man trilogy. I almost didn't read it because of FFG's negative review. I was mostly agreeing with her during my read of the first book, but I kept holding out hope for more. The lead hero did remind me of a domineering ex I had and not in a good way. I'm glad I stuck with it though. (Also, the SPaGs, which were horrendous for the first book, have gotten less and less through the books). But I stuck with the story and have been enjoying it. It's different. I've only got 100 pages left of the last book so I'm here stalling because I don't want it to end.

And I'm so upset about FLAG. I don't like the idea of being emailed my stories, so I guess I have no choice but to install calibre. I hope it works on the old mac that I have that I read on. The whole idea of installing it and downloading FFDL makes me queasy. I've read enough of your posts to be worried.

It's also making me question whether I should go out and buy a reader. Actually my mom wants one too and she doesn't have wireless on her computer. What kind of reader would any of you recommend for her? She's older and needs big type, as well as something REALLY EASY to work on. She's a bit technophobic, but a voracious reader. She's has limited mobility, so I think this might be the thing she needs. Any recs on something cheap? It doesn't have to be the cheapest. I also think it would be best to get her something that reads epubs rather than mobi files. Thoughts?

I'm so gonna download the series from On Demand now as I've heard good things about it.

I have only seen it twice and twice it has had me crying with laughter. Last night though, the look on their faces as the walrus got a little loving attention was priceless.
