Hi all!  I've been lurking because I've been all caught up in Jodi Ellen Malpas' This Man trilogy. I almost didn't read it because of FFG's negative review. I was mostly agreeing with her during my read of the first book, but I kept holding out hope for more. The lead hero did remind me of a domineering ex I had and not in a good way. I'm glad I stuck with it though. (Also, the SPaGs, which were horrendous for the first book, have gotten less and less through the books). But I stuck with the story and have been enjoying it. It's different. I've only got 100 pages left of the last book so I'm here stalling because I don't want it to end.

And I'm so upset about FLAG. I don't like the idea of being emailed my stories, so I guess I have no choice but to install calibre. I hope it works on the old mac that I have that I read on. The whole idea of installing it and downloading FFDL makes me queasy. I've read enough of your posts to be worried.

It's also making me question whether I should go out and buy a reader. Actually my mom wants one too and she doesn't have wireless on her computer. What kind of reader would any of you recommend for her? She's older and needs big type, as well as something REALLY EASY to work on. She's a bit technophobic, but a voracious reader. She's has limited mobility, so I think this might be the thing she needs. Any recs on something cheap? It doesn't have to be the cheapest. I also think it would be best to get her something that reads epubs rather than mobi files. Thoughts?

My husband just got his first Kindle.  It was the basic one that is around $70.  E-ink and very light.  The Barnes & Noble one is also a good one to go with.  It's best to go with the basic e-ink one to see if you like it.  You can always turn on a light. And it doesn't bother your eyes.  I've heard decent things about the Sony, but I think they are over $100.  The basic B&N model is epub and about the same price as the Kindle one.  Both are fairly easy to use.  The B&N should have a micro SD card slot also, so you can read books from that.  That's where I loaded all my fanfics...

If you get the B&N one, don't forget to check out the Free Nook Book Friday blog - B&N has a free book every Friday.  Some have been really good.  They are usually older books where the writer has a new book coming out.  I guess hoping if you like it you will buy the new on.  Lots of romances, some mysteries and a few other things.  Not a bad deal.   

I remember when I first started reading Twific I was accumulating fics like crazy; I got to around 150- 200 (this was a month into my new addiction) and I asked a question on this thread, I think we were on thread one. "How do you ladies save and store your fanfics" Matron, I think, mentioned Calibre; Ella, RDM and I spent a weekend (separately, across continents) downloading and sorting, Ella became the Calibre guru and I have never looked back.  It was a huge pain in the arse, it was, I won't lie, getting all your stories into Calibre, and setting up the columns, and the right settings; but it is the best way to keep all my fics straight. I'm glad I asked that question right at the start of this craziness so that now I've just got into the habit and it's right there without having to think about it.....And you have an advantage on me...Ms Ella, she was a novice when I started. Now? Gold medallist 

I think for your mother a Kindle might be the best bet, I think that is probably the reader that feels closer to a book? For you? An iPad. Why? They're the sexiest

Thanks Caro,  Apparently they did the NFL congnitive test on him.  The NFL considers a severe brain injury a .2% score on their test.  My nephew scored a .09%.  We just keep praying.

I hope he gets better soon.  That is a bit scary....

Yeah, I am due in March, and we were able to decide on our daughter's name pretty well together, so I'm not too worried.

He actually wanted the middle name to be Calrissian!?!  I am all for unique names but not that.

OMG! Kimkimkim was right! What a great guess! Lando Calrissian! But Calrissian is his last name....

Okay now that I've caught up, I guess I will go back and find out what Bella and Edward are up to.....

There definitely is a lot of action in this thing.  And stupid Edward could have shot to kill and didn't.  I bet he wants to bang his head now....   

I'm rereading now, I couldn't start a new story, there were bits of old stories on my mind that begged me to reread them.... 

So, I finished "Such Great Heights" by SydneyAlice yesterday. I really like it, but I like Nanny stories and this is a good one with a strong enough Bella.

Now, I'm rereading "Parma High" by Lady Gwynedd. I love her stories a lot and this one is just right. Edward and Bella are both HS teachers in that and because she is a teacher herself you get a really good idea of school politics etc there. That's great for me because the US school system is different from our system and that keeps it interesting. Don't forget the lovestory between Edward and Bella... great story! 


Yesterday we spent the day at an amusement park. It was fun but so tiring! They have a lot of great rides, lovely old fashioned carousels (those with the horses...) and lots of rides for the smaller kids. It was a lovely fall day but not crowded at all, so my youngest could stay put and ride the plane carousel (do you remember them? you sit in a little plane and the carousel goes its rounds around and the planes go up. ) several times in a row. "Mommy! I'm flying!" never gets old. I think alltogether he sat in that planes 11 times 
It's good that you pay for everything with the entrance fee...

Am onpage 165 of SaI and god i want to cry!!! My stomache is aching from all the tension...reading so fast to see what happens... Sooo goooood!

I will have to reread them soon, I loved those fics. Mercward and his sweetness, sooo good...
That will be a reading marathon as soon as there is the newest one close to be finished...
