  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

It's a guy who set up a cold calling centre in Swansea.  They are the beggars who phone us constantly!

He is amazingly successful considering the fact I, and everyone I know, just hang up on them.

The guy (Nev) is really involved in his staff, to the point of setting up date nights!  Hilarious - if you can overcome the accents.

I just found the BBC website for The Call Centre - I can only understand about 1 out of every 5 words they say! I need subtitles!!!  :D :D :D

I was up very late one night and some UK reality show was on - Jordie Shore/Essex - can't remember which one. The girls wore SO much makeup that I was worried their faces would crack, they were rooting anything that moved, and I swear, they were talking a foreign language.

And it would seem she agrees with the Pretty (and me) that Twilight sucks (Long live twifics!)....You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Twitter almost went into meltdown when this was released the other day! I was too scared to join in the "discussion'.

But because I know that this is a safe place...

SMeyer thinks Twilight sucks...until she needs to make another eleventy million dollars.

Then we'll see "Twilight - The Renesmee Years".

In which Renesmee rips her mother's head off for giving her such a stoopid name, fade to black, then Renesmee gives birth to a litter of wolf puppies, fade to black, and Jacob just fades to black all the time.

Did you ever see the American version of Coupling? It was so horrible, and not even so horrible you could laugh at it. It was just terrible. I used to watch the Brit version when I worked in Hong Kong and loved it.

The US killed Kath & Kim. It was such a funny, endearing, yet cringeworthy show.

The Americans just made it cringeworthy.

We should have torn up the ANZUS treaty for that one!!!

I actually like Master Chef.  Gordon Ramsey is actually sweet in that one.

I have watched Aussie, UK and US Masterchef.

Love the Aussie version, but I find the  US contestant are really bitchy and the UK judges are mean.

I love US Top Chef, though and my all-time fave reality show is the original and the best...Survivor!

But does the initial story have to be bad, for the fan fiction to be any good (having never read anything but twifics I'm asking this from real curiosity), what bout Hunger Game fanfics and Walking Dead etc?....

I did read some Sookie Stackhouse/ Southern Vampire Mysteries way back in the day - even before True Blood - and, like with twific, some were great, some not so much.

I vom in my mouth a little every time I see someone on Twitter mentioning One Direction fanfic.

Alright, I vom a little every time One Direction gets a mention, but to think that there is 1D fanfic...

Thanks for indulging my question on file types, I was hoping there was one file type that was readily available that easily converted (nicely converted) between all other file types, oh well.

:D :D :D I have to have a look at P&P fanfic, I can't even begin to imagine....and no, the original there was far, far from bad.  :D

I have read several good Pride and Prejudice fanfics, most have been setting the story in modern times.  For P&P fans if you haven't heard of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) a modern adaption on youtube (I only lurk from time to time, so if this was discussed earlier, please ignore)

Every time I look at SM I actually see Bella.  Think about it.  Brown wavy hair and brown eyes.  She looks more like what I picture Bella to look like than SAF does.

I have been reading most. Some I flounced. Some are slash, so I didn't even attempt. I haven't finished them since about 10 posted in the last day, but here are some I have liked, I will start at the bottom since that is how I read them from posting.

Stockholm syndrome
Tequila brave
In the flesh (tattward  >:D)    Oh..... Loopy !
Hard as a rock
Power tools and pearls
Blurred lines
Who says
Channel 5
Felt
The periodic table

Oooo - I wish I could tell you which one our Lauren wrote! She has at least one entry in each of the current contests.

But it has to remain anonymous or they will pull her fic. One of the entries was  disqualified because her beta left a comment and it was felt that it might reveal who she was.

Don't forget to vote - log onto ff.net, go to the competition page and click on the poll at the top.

I can only do slash if it's all human.(yes, it usually involves a nal, although some gay men don't like a nal sex, but I love reading about it!)
I stumbled across a OS (I think) where Vampbella found out they all screwed each other all the time, and had Edward and Jasper relieving some tension together, and I didn't care for it at all. I *might* be ok with a vamp story with Bella and Alice both dead, and them turning to each other then.

Actually, that doesn't sound bad at all, anyone know of one like that? It's actually kinda odd, almost ALL of my non-fic reading is m/ romance, but I've barely read any slashfic.

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login by Fiberkitty kinda fits this criteria. Check out the pairings below...

When the Cullens lose Alice and Rose in the battle with the Volturi,  Bella must become the glue holding the family together. Alice makes the greatest  sacrifice of her existence is playing a game to ensure Jasper lives on.

ExB, BxEm, BxJ, ExJ, BxJxE.

I had never read any slash before twific. I stumbled across an AH fic, All I Never Knew by manyafandom (on the index - I'm getting a message telling me to log in so can't link) and was touched by how sweet it was. Unfortunately it was never finished.

There's also McFearless by TeamBella23, which was funny, sweet and sad.
I'm not vulnerable beneath his eyes, because I'm always beneath his eyes. Our entire public relationship consists of sneaky looks and quiet warmness. And when we are alone, we're usually f ucking or fighting over the remote.

If you've never tried slash, give this a go - it's more comedy than anything, but there are some hard hitting issues there.

The flu was unlikely for the time of the year, so they settled that it was a summer cold. About an hour later the doctor confirmed just that and apparently I had an infection in my lungs also, so he put me on an antibiotic. Basically telling me I had walking phenomena.

Warning: Do NOT go here if you have a low tolerance for the misuse and abuse of the English language.

Not read it, but SPOILER ALERT - this walking phenomena is about to get pregnant!

That's what happens in twific world when the doctor puts you on an antibiotic!  :P

Geez! You were all chatty today! I didn't think I would ever catch up, and when I finally did, I discover that I'm the one that's been prattling on for the entire last page!

If you have PM'ed me to request the contest entries anthologies, I'm sending them now. I'll send the Angst and DTE contests.

I also have the HEA, Ho Hey, Make Me Laugh, MoreIsMore and Taste of The Forbidden I and II Anthologies, so if you want those, PM and tell me what you want.

My daughter watches Masterchef Australia everyday.  I think this is the 2011 re-run at the moment.
She is going to be so annoyed as it is the final week next week and she won't be able to watch it!

I haven't seen any of the US version but, enjoy watching the amateur cook version here.  There are also professional chef and celebrity versions which I don't watch.

I have never seen Survivor!

I only go to GR to read up, not make friends really. That said, being SMeyer's Bella Swan is certainly not a literary character I would want to describe myself as. She's self-absorbed, selfish and ignores all those around her, except the pretty. Not a great conversationalist or a good friend.

And this is exactly why fanfiction is such a joy when it's well done.  It can take an annoying character-and make them into something more, or kick their arse.  It can sort out all the bits of the books you hated and deal with plot holes.  It can promote minor characters to central roles and make them fascinating.  It is these things that make fanfiction so addictive to me.

As always Fiberkitty goes overboard but I liked the Ties that Bind not because of the s.e.x but because of the relationships.  I might have to give it another read soon.  :)

2011?
Was that the one with the hot lifeguard Hayden?

Or adorable Andy?

This year we have the lovely Lynton and desirable Dan.

Oh - and they cook!  ;)

We already finished watching that one.  I think the series we are currently watching may be the one before that.
It's got Aaron and Alvin in and Courtney who I really don't want to win.

Hayden was very nice to look at but, I haven't seen any of the others.

I have only just started using epubs and the only reason is because I listen to fics on my phone using the Voice Dream app. When I first started using it, I noticed that, suddenly, in the middle of a sentence,"she" would blurt out, "minus one hundred and thirty-seven". When I checked, she was reading the page number.

That doesn't seem to happen with epubs.

As for Voice Dream, I still love it, and the extra 2 hours of reading I get done every day. I did find discover another unusual little glitch in it though - last week, "she" was reading a lemon, and all of a sudden, she started going, "millimetres, millimetres, millimetres." Turns out, Bella was saying "mmmmmm" and later, when she laughed, the Voice Dream chick converted "haha" to "hectares, hectares."  :D :D :D

That's the funniest shite. Are you making this up?

Hi Ladies
How many of you are on Goodreads and if you are, how many have 'challenge question' for friend requests? i.e why do you want to be my friend? Mine is 'if you were a literary character who would you be? Is it wrong that I deny anyone who says 'Bella Swan'?  :o
I'm on GR but I don't have a 'challenge question' I really should, but I'm pretty sure I'd come up with something sexual that would just offend most people.  :P :D

Hi Lovelies. ( BTW do we have any men on this thread?)
Reading Pattyrose's It will Be As If I'd Never Existed and the 20th of June was highlighted as a significant date in the twilight story. For 10 points can anyone tell me why:)
Ummmm, it's my son Saxon's birthday and everyone knows that deserves a mention in most Twilight fics.  :P

Okay here's something I think I've never confessed I FLOVE Geordie Shore - it's the accent as the hubby's from Newcastle, I just p*ss myself laughing when watching it as he's nothing like the guys on there when it comes to waxing their bodies, make up etc.  :o :D
Oh also I saw someone mention Real Housewives I love OC and Beverly Hills.
I just love Jiggy and what Lisa dresses him in.  :D
