This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general. But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

I'm a little depressed. I feel like all I have been doing lately is reading, and when I come on here, there are more recs! Since I trust your opinions, this means more books and series to add to my TBR. I feel like I'll never make a dent. I've been hording fics and RL books left and right. I doubt I'll ever read as many as I already have, and I know I'll just be adding more in the days to come... Sorry, I think I'm just having one of those days. Probably need to order that Diva cup I've been meaning to. *sigh*

I am in exactly the same position. I have so much to read that I find I flee to the comfort of old well read friends.

Ella, men's mothers are the bane of a girl's life! All you ladies out there raising sons, remember some single girl will have to someday marry him! Give her a break already!

My Dad lived with his mother until he married my mom.

My mom made sure all my brothers could clean and cook. My dad supported her in this. I think it was because he didn't care who waited on him, as long as someone did.

True I mean who would've thought that I was going to have 3k in fanfics and right now I'm taking a break in reading anything new and all of the recs that I get here I don't always put them in my TBR list, I only attach a note in my excel list I know I know OCD but hey it gets everything organized.

You're right. I'm running out of space on my laptop and the sheer number of books I have is overwhelming. And I just got some new books that I'm excited about by Sierra Cartwright, Chloe Cox, Shiloh Walker and Lisa Renee Jones, so the TBR has lots of interesting things. Actually, looking at this list I realize something kind of funny. Whereas I've been getting kind of bored by the lemons in fanfiction, I don't seem to mind them in RL books. LOL.

Although I'm only on chapter 8, I'm enjoying the Breakers by Les16. Feels like this might be a slow burn, so I'm glad about that.

As I said before, I think FF writers write for their readers who want a lemon in every chapter. But, except for erotica where the whole purpose is lemons, I think RL fic tries to have more plot than lemons. They try. Because lemons on top of lemons are just like sex, you need a break once in a while.

Now as to the Hard Drive problem. External drives are not too expensive. Or you may be able to switch out your drive. I find the ebooks aren't as much of a problem as the videos. I had to move all my TV show downloads elsewhere. Well, I have 2 hard drives on my laptop. And they are getting filled so I know what you mean. There are YouTube videos on how to change out your hard drive in your laptop to put in a bigger one. It actually isn't too hard. It just takes time to move everything over.

Thinking about it? Probably external drives are easier....

I had a good cry today about "Your Life can change in a Moment" by coloradoperson. Really good story about a Bella struggling with cancer. The author uses her own story, so it all feels very real and honest.

Now I'm reading "Back home" by TheFlutteryButterfly. She declared it a story full of fluff and cheese... not sure about that... I'm at chapter 15 and like it so far, won't be one of my favorites, but seems OK.

A question (not in relation to the stories mentioned above!):

When Bella shaves her underarms, does she mean her armpits or the part of the arm beween hand and elbow?
And why does the shaving have to be described that detalized? I mean, she doesn't tell us every bodybart she washes, why telling us every bodypart she shaves? That's TMI, even for a fanfic... "I showered and shaved" should be enough, right?

LOL, yeah it's probably TMI. The only time I'm ever even slightly curious about whether Bella has shaved is when she is about to change to a vamp. But it's only a tinkling of a curiosity even then. (In the States, we sometimes refer to shaving our armpits as shaving our underarms. I can see how that might not translate well.)

I know what you mean. There was one story where they planned Bella's change. So the day before, Alice and Rose took her to the spa for a wax. Everywhere. And Bella argued it down to a bikini wax, legs and underarms. Because, as Alice explained, it is almost impossible to get rid of it after you're changed.

Yup, I think that's when I read it. You provided enough info that I realized it wasn't what I thought it was, story wise. I did really enjoy it. Though the end is a little different.

Well, in German the part of the arm between hand and elbow is called "Unterarm" (=lower arm) and from elbow to shoulder it's "Oberarm" (upper arm) so you see how this can be confusing for me...

I honestly thought she shaved her arms, could be, when she has lots of dark hair there, right? And I always wondered, why she doesn't shave her armpits, when she mentiones every other part she shaves...

I have been reading a few books recently and came across this one - Perfect Harmony by Sarah P. Lodge.

I don't ever remember reading it as a fic but, I think it must have been - does anybody know?

It isn't all that great to be honest and I have 'postponed' it for the time being.

On the subject of books I am really enjoying the FBI US Attorney series by Julie James - well written and edited properly - worth checking out.

When I first started reading Twifics I tried to go over to GR and leave reviews but f*ing hell, I'd have no time to do anything else at the rate I read them..I think Dusty was the last one I reviewed over there.

Americans don't typically shave the hair on the lower arms. But I know some cultures that do. I have on occasion because it gets dark if I'm not in the sun enough. Mostly though just driving around lightens it enough thank goodness.

But I totally got your confusion on this.
