  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Is it just me or was anyone else wondering why she's wearing sandals with over-the-elbow leather gloves? (And rolling around next to what looks like bird droppings)

It is weird.

This is what Wikipedia has to say about her character. And RP is Jerome.

Agatha, has recently been released from a sanatorium where she was treated for criminal pyromania and befriended a limo driver Jerome who is also an aspiring actor

I just realized that maybe she has gloves on because her hands might be scarred, she does like to play with fire. :D

Ella, are you saying you don't like baby fics either?   I thought I was the only one.    I really really hate it when they go the route of the unplanned pregnancy...    They don't really even know each other yet, but then they walk off into the sunset with their baby carriage!     I think the whole pregnancy and newborn baby thing are just too "real life" for me and I read to escape.  LOL   Those days were REALLY tough and I don't care to relive them, even via fiction.  ;-)
I'm dying to hear what you think of The Cullen Legacy!    I'm trying so hard to keep my ff TBR list at under 50, but it's getting close to going over!
I don't mind them, but I prefer B & E aren't teenagers.  Or just having a one night stand.

Otherwise, I don't mind babies. But you are right, they aren't realistic.  At least most of the time.  That said, I've been beta-ing one that was a teenage pregnancy that is good. :)

The Cullen Legacy

:djparty: Yipee! finally finished my Pattyrose marathon! All 7 stories, done! My favourite is Thief of Hearts, by far, The Cullen Legacy is 4th after 12 Days of Christmas and Indecent proposal, couldn't get past the British-isms (that weren't..) I will admit it got better as the story progressed, as I assume British reader helped out while reviewing, though I think we stop calling a man's p e n i s a 'willy' once he reaches puberty  :D, and Patty's story-telling is really good, regardless; 3.5*

Now, who to tackle next? Suggestions of a postcard  :)

Hoodfabulous is next for me. I keep seeing some of her one-shots being rec'd and I really enjoyed Breakaway Bella.

Demaris, Thank you for the rec on Pattyrose's Thief of Hearts, I really liked it. A fast-paced romantic suspense that kept me reading any chance I had.

FBI Agent Edward Cullen knows the assignment: Go undercover & infiltrate the ring. Bring them down. He doesn't bargain on the mysterious thief who turns the case upside down, or on the mortal danger protecting her will put them both in. E&B OOC

You are welcome! You should read Indecent Proposal too if you have a mind to continue to read Patty, its good, with a really great Bella. Or 12 Days of Christmas if you haven't already read it, I've read that twice and its not too long...

I only skimmed this when it was a WIP as I'm following so many so I can't wait to read this properly now it's complete.  :)

I really liked it, but I think it all went so fast... it's hard to find it believable (I know it doesn't have to be) but still, what are the chances of that actually happening.  :unamused:

The Twilight star made a surprise trip to the hospital's Teen Lounge on Aug. 16, and joined the patients who were decorating picture frames.

The 27-year-old, who is currently filming Maps to the Stars in L.A., created a pink frame decorated with hearts, and laughed at his own "terrible" artistic skills before posing for photos and signing each kid's picture frame.

"Robert was so nervous about meeting the kids – he didn’t want to let them down – which is a testament to how humble he is," Child Life specialist Ana Vega said. "He was incredibly gracious and kind."

Pattinson also visited two cystic fibrosis patients – huge Twilight fans – who were unable to leave their rooms.

"We couldn't help laughing and smiling when one of the patients was so starstruck that she couldn't speak. You could tell it meant the world to her – she was tearing up and smiling ear to ear," said Lyndsay Hutchinson, the hospital's public information officer. "The other little girl teased him relentlessly and begged him to do an American accent. They were instant friends."

It's the Good In The Stacks entry for the Dirty Talkin' Edward contest.

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Six-foot-two, disheveled hair, and screen-printed t-shirt likely wouldn't be most people's idea of a sexy librarian fantasy. Their loss. Entry for the Dirty Talkin' Edward Twific Contest

Does anyone know who wrote this story because I want to read more of their stuff! It's bloody marvellous! I don't know what the rules are for entering such a contest but I don't see what this author did as 'cheating', I think they brought their own artistic interpretation to the theme; taking it away from the obvious into something 'fresh'; it deserved however many reviews it got, this is really good writing, blinkin' brilliant .

I think part of the problem is that it's too long--by more than 700 words. Voting ends 27 August 2013, so the winners and authors should be announced after that.

I started it yesterday and totally agree, although I was so exhausted last night. I went to bed at 9pm (on a Friday night  :() with the intention of reading for a while. I don't think I made it through half a chapter - my e-reader woke me when it smacked into my nose.

I should have turned the light off then, but decided to persevere. I woke up at midnight with my e-reader sitting on my face and the light still on.

I did read a few chapters this morning but then my bladder decided that I needed to get out of bed.

My damn body is cockblocking me with this fic! Yet further proof that SMeyer vamps are evolved beings - they don't need to sleep or pee!

In the review that was left that started all the sledging, the author was "outed" as
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

This has not been confirmed, and won't be until the judging is announced. The way these contests work (I'm learning) is that they have a "secret keeper" who is the only person that knows the ID of the author and which fic they wrote.

My nephew was in hospital for 10 weeks back in 2011 - it was the scariest time of my life - and every visit to a child in hospital means so much to them.

Even when I flew down and visited for a day, I was made to feel like a celebrity. The nurses were just amazing.

My nephew got to meet the Wiggles - as did his brother, my other niece and nephew, my sister, SIL and my mum. The Wiggles were just lovely - they were great with the kids and fussed over my mum. She is really shy and quiet and was just happy to see the kids so excited so just stood back and watched, but all 4 Wiggles brought her over and made sure she was in every photo. They were all calling her "Grandma" and of course, this made the kids even happier.

I really admire celebs who give back, and this visit by the Pretty seems so genuine, not just a PR exercise.

And the way he's standing here...does funny things to my tummy.  ^-^
