Well, I like quiet stories.
Not exactly fluffy stories, but like Touching Solitude not drama after drama after drama, just life as it happens.

There should be a word for it...

I think I remember talking about this before. The best I could come up with was realistic.

I remember too, and "realistic" just doesn't feel right.

I'm struggling to come up with a satisfactory genre label, so I did a little research. It kills me that out of all my teaching resources on Literature and Genre, wikipedia has actually given me some satisfaction!

Realistic fiction is a story that is true to life.

Literary fiction is a term used to distinguish certain fictional works that possess commonly held qualities that constitute literary merit. Genre works are written with the intent of fitting into a specific literary genre in order to appeal to readers and fans already familiar with that genre. Literary fiction may fit within a classification of market fiction, but also possesses generally agreed upon qualities such as "elegantly written, lyrical, and ... layered" that appeals to readers outside genre fiction. Literary fiction has been defined as any fiction that attempts to engage with one or more truths or questions, hence relevant to a broad scope of humanity as a form of expression. There are many sources that help readers find and define literary fiction and genre fiction.

So, I'm inventing a new genre for writers like Rochelle Allison - Literary Realism.

And so it shall be!

I am cracking up that you posted this...   I saw this on TV back when it aired and I laughed for a week straight over it!  I kept wondering what other vibrating things he was going to use as a demo and I wondered how in the world he kept a straight face.   

I've got to say I was bored stupid with Stay, and this Bella got on my tit! 

"on my tit"!  That's an expression I haven't heard before...  funny.       I am 90% finished with Stay right now and I am pretty bored with it.   I'm wondering if once you've read an actorward they are just all the same?   I guess there is only so much you can do with the normal girl getting used to the celebrity status of her boyfriend.    It wasn't bad enough for me to flounce, but I'm not just loving it.

Shoot, yeah sorry about that. I was referring to the bronze horseman that a couple of ladies were talking about. I read Stay as a wip...and flounced after they FINALLY got to that first lemon (on the stairs! lol). Was that fic fairly fluffy? It couldn't hold my interest to complete it but cant remember why at this point

There just isn't much that happens...   I'm not at the end yet, but so far nothing has really happened.   They fall in love with "i love yous" within 2 weeks and she surprises him on NYE at his parents house, but thats really it.  And its light on the lemons.

BTW. Why didn't someone tell me that The Real Life Of E A Masen was sooooo funny. Today I took my 'old' (only with Apple would an 8 month old device be classified as 'old') iPad out by mistake and that fic was on there, with nothing else to read while waiting for the Tube I started it, my fellow passengers must of thought I was mad! I could not stop laughing! 

Demaris, does this mean this gets your seal of approval?  You know I'll read ANYTHING you suggest now...    In addition to being funny, is it also lemony? 

And Edward Cullen, Dick For Hire and the pic below did the job to connect Edward and Rob forever in my mind.

I keep hearing so much about this fic...   what is it about again?  He's detective or something?

Ooops, my bad. I didn't even think about this since it's a non canon fic. I'll go edit that and put it behind one.

And you's be right! I couldn't care less, as I is canon fodder, but some of the sister wives? They like a li mixed sumin' sumin' at times....

Yeah I think that's it. It had potential, it wasn't badly written, but Jasper drove me nuts. All angsty over losing Alice and moving on with Bella, then sleeping with her, then all angsty again. I just got sick of it and flounced, but I'll probably go back to it one day.

Demaris doesn't do non-cannon anyway, and everyone that has quoted you - including Big D - will have to edit their quotes.



But while the Fun Police are here, can we all please remember to change the subject line? Especially when we're talking about a particular fic or when we're giving the most excellent advice on how to use Calibre?

'On my tit' we use it here in Blighty, it's the same as 'gets on my nerves' but more.....'extreme(?)' Well that's how I use it anyway when nerve just won't cut it! 

I would defo rec Real Life, it's laugh out loud funny and the lemons are good without be OTT!

Today I've been called a 65 year old man cyber stalker and a member of The Filth this is a good morning all in!  So I think I'll get going while the going is good, it's 03.33 GMT and this old man need to get some shut eye so that I can perv on you all a little more later.

bluegeek, can you let me know it that works for you because my bff is having the worst nausea during her first trimester right now and has been taking zofran because nothing else is working?  Thanks.

Can't say it really helped with the nausea, but if I pressed on the bruise I created by biting my thumb, it helped to distract from the unwell feeling some.  But if your friend is on zofran, then hers is worse than mine.  They say each pregnancy is different, but if this one is like my first then I only have another 3 weeks or so, I hope your friend feels better soon.

Having experienced neither pregnancy or motion sickness, I'm no expert, but my friend's daughter swears by them.
