*sigh* yes! There's a ffn plug in downloader, but it's still giving me the same error. Looking on their website again.

It looks like FF.net keeps changing things to actively block the downloader. There's a new version of the plug in you can install manually, I installed that, restarted calibre, and it's working again for now.

I finally found a relatively easy way to delete big attachment emails from my gmail account...     I downloaded Thunderbird (mozilla's email client) and you can open your gmail account with that.   Then you can sort via attachment size and delete using normal windows commands to select many emails at once.
It's a great idea, but you have to have the settings set to delete items sent to trash.  Or something like that.

My thing is I have 3 computers that I download emails to - I use Outlook and it's my backup in a way & if I delete something, it is gone everywhere.  I want the downloaded version, I just don't want the version to stay up on the Google Drive after I've downloaded to all computers.

But if you only have the one computer? That works perfect....  ;D

Thank Matron. Any idea how you'd install it manually?...I'm using a Macbook Pro.

EDIT Actually there's a new plugin update on Calibre...

EDIT PART 2 That hasn't helped... :'(

Yeah the update on calibre didn't help me either, that attachment did. I'm not a hundred percent on a mac, but on a pc, you download the file I attached, then open calibre. Go to preferences, then plug ins, then load plug in from file (looks like an old floppy disc, bottom right corner on mine). Load the attachment I uploaded, as is, don't unzip it first. Then restart calibre.

I wonder if you had received extra storage with the purchase of a computer/gadget? I know Samsung was offering 50 gb for qualifying phones/tabs (of COURSE mine via Verizon did not qualify) for a year I think. Which sucks because after that year you'll have to move a bunch of stuff out.

Right now I have 7.38 gb in dropbox but a few of those gb will disappear in the next year or so b/c they were promotional with a phone I got.

Skydrive is my biggest free cloud at 25 gb but I cannot figure out how (if even possible) to auto sync. Sigh.

I just deleted over 6000 emails from gmail today to free up space. And it took forever because they're all over the place. Inbox, spam, different categories, All Mail and then you have to go and perm. delete from trash.
That could be it! I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab Note that came with Dropbox, I did the initial sign up but never used it.  That could totally be where it came from.

It's just not worth using if it goes away after a year, other than if I were sharing my Calibre library.  The other account I opened? Yeah, only 2 GBs AND I lost 250 MBs on the main drive.  I went from 52 to 51.75 & they said they added 500 mbs for signing up a friend.  ??? ???  I have an accounting degree.  This doesn't add up.   >:(

Also? Everyone tells me how secure they are.  They are not secure at all.  There are employees that can unencrypt your files. And there were 4 hours last April where anyone could have accessed anything on the site because their security went down.  So really, other than things like fanfiction? I really would never use it for anything.  And I wouldn't trust things were secure there.

This is why I don't like "cloud" storage.

And for a while I had a Seagate Drive attached to my router that I could access anywhere -well it is still there, but the program doesn't work with Windows 8.  >:(

It was so perfect when I traveled, I had my iTunes folder one it and my ebooks library.....  Could access it everywhere!  Sigh.  Stupid Windows 8 that I never really use.   :-\

Okay, I will quit complaining now.... Thanks for listening  :-*

It was working last night and again this morning.  Then it stopped working again.   They say FFnet is actively blocking it now.  Hmm.  I can still download using my old ffdownloader, but it doesn't get all the cool info.

I will try the file and see if that fixes it.

Thanks!  :-*

Did the seagate drive have to be hooked to your computer? I have a WD drive and a fantom drive, but both have to be hooked to a computer AND a power supply, and my DH's desktop blew up last week, so there's nothing to really attach it to. I might have to look into something like that though, because like you said, clouds are only as secure as the people running it, and I've been hearing LOTS fo things about government backdoors. I'm ok with fanfic, but I also tend to get books from some not so reputable sources (not to mention movies and music), so I need something other than a cloud to back those books up in. (movies and movies go straight to the WD drive.)

And seriously. I'm about to legit lose my shit at this point. I moved my calibre folder from My Docs to my computer/t15561 and it's currently syncing.

then I did the plug in update.

And now? my Calibre library via the actual program is gone. As in nothing there. No custom columns, no 3200 fics. Not a damn thing is there.

I swear to god technology is working against me today. Now I just....i Just don't know wtf to do. Move back from drop box? I'm so close to

Yes, this is my concern.  And even things I've legitimately purchased but removed the DRM from because of stories that Amazon had deleted stuff people had bought for reasons having nothing to do with the purchase but did not refund the cost.  I don't know.  When I buy a book I assume it is mine. Even if I can't resell it.

The Seagate drive is always on and plugged into the wireless router.  You have to have a password to get in, but it isn't that great of one.  But then you have to get into the network to use it, unless you have the program.  So I can access it when I'm plugged into the network, but not necessarily from the wifi.  I have an app on my phone that can access it.  Well, I can access the movies and music on the wifi, just not the files.

There is a WD drive out there that is supposed to do a similar thing.  It is a little pricy, especially as it doesn't say it works with Windows 8.   ;D

You need to add the library from the new location and it should all come back.  Use Library/Switch/Create Library and Use previously existing library at the new location - and browse to where you put the new folder.

The next time go to Switch/Create Library Then select "Move current library to a new location" and in the New location line find your Dropbox folder and select it as the location to move to.  It works easily that way.

I'm trying this all right now (thank you!  :-*) but am not having much luck. I still have the folder in dropbox and I added it as you said but still nothing.

At the moment I'm backing everything up to a flash drive because I'm getting a little nervous with the way things have gone today with this. Right now I have nothing backed up to clouds and my library is empty because apparently technology hates me today.

As soon as I get everything on my flash I'm going to move the folder back from dropbox to my docs and then try what you suggested again.

So I started This is who I am, but I really am getting annoyed by Maddie.  She talks normally to Bella but talks with a weird southern accent to everyone else?   I hate when writers try to do baby talk.  Or I guess it's toddler talk.  Since she is 4.   :P

I do like the Edward though.  Maybe I should read Theif of Hearts.  I think that was what I was looking for, but I saw "This is Who I Am" first....   ;D

See, now you are getting me worried - I haven't used dropbox yet.  I also wonder if you delete it off the cloud, will it delete it off your hard drive.

I will have to experiment on my other computer.  This one doesn't have enough room for multiple Calibre folders.
