I just 107yearoldvirgin's blog post and just have no words.

This time last week, I was really feeling down - my temperamental health issues had left me feeling really upset and anxious and I was a bit over everything.

Why does it continue when we are adults? What deep-seated need do these people hope to meet by destroying the confidence, self-esteem and potentially, the lives of their victims?

Some of you may have seen mention of a particularly disturbing fic on ff.net that was, despite being reported since June, was only removed yesterday (it was still available on AO3 yesterday). The fic involved incest and child molestation and had some disturbing reviews about how "hot" this was! A father ejaculating on his newborn daughter that his teenage daughter had given birth to, 10 year old children being taught to pleasure their parents and siblings, teenagers impregnated by their parents, and adults impregnated by their children - it was possible the worst thing I had ever read, and I read about 4 chapters too many before I not only stopped reading but also reported the fic. The only reason I kept reading was because I was expecting the story to change and the perpetrators would get their just desserts.

Did I contact the "writer" and threaten them and call them names? Did I leave a review that would raise their review count and give them the attention they were obviously craving by writing this travesty? Did I jump onto FB or Twitter and discuss the fic? No - for the first time ever, I reported the fic to the site administrators and waited for them to remove it, which they eventually did.

There is a right way and a wrong way to handle every situation, and 107's blog shows us that we don't know what other people are going through. For all I know, the writer of that awful fic is a victim of abuse and this might be their cry for help - misguided, sure, but I don't know what goes through some people's minds.

What I really love about PTS is that, while we might not always talk favourably about a particular fic, and we might be critical of a person's behaviour, I can not recall one time when any of us have actually attacked anyone personally.
I'm really sorry you were not feeling well last week.  I am so happy I am going through menopause.  No more PMS-ing. I had crazy mood swings every month. I could deal with the anger, but the depression would be so bad some months.  The pill helped somewhat.

I don't get being nasty to people. That said, I have found writers tend to be extremely sensitive when it comes to their writing.  You could politely recommend they get a beta, and they will decide you have been horribly mean. Or you could say "I love your story, please update soon!" and you are nagging them.   I just remember someone saying her friend was getting flamed in reviews & unless someone removed them, I couldn't find any reviews I would consider nasty...  So I guess there could be two sides to the equation. But it does make it hard for me to know what to say in a review. :-\

And this story you are talking about? I don't get it.  But then I couldn't read The Perfect Wife.  I also couldn't read the back story on Wisp either.   I read part of the first chapter and it was wrong.  Just wrong.  And? It really p*sses me off that a story like that stays and they dump a good story like CaraNo's stuff just for explicit sex between consenting adults....  I just don't get FFnet....  ???

Oh - I still have this month's PMS to look forward to!  >:(

It turns out that I had an infection in my bowel, possibly triggered by IBS, but they won't know that until they send a camera in, and they won't send a camera in until the pain and bleeding stops and the infection is under control.

Thank goodness PMS or Shark Week didn't hit at the same time - I definitely wouldn't have been able to handle it!

I was shocked that it took so long for ff.net to remove it! It made The Perfect Wife look like rainbows and butterflies and glitter - it was truly disturbing, basically just child pornography - and it really sickened me that there were some really positive reviews!

I'm liking Touching Solitude.  I actually don't mind the meadow.  I just remember someone here hates meadows.....  :D :D :D :D :D
I actually like the meadows, but that was one of my favorite parts of Twilight.  ;-)    My favorite fic meadow so far was Wide Awake!    Of course, I've only read 20 or so fics, so maybe I'll get tired of meadows one day?

My whole family has slight IBS with a mix of lactose intolerance.  Some days are fun.  Mostly, though, it isn't painful as much as you just want to be near a rest room.  Yours sounds like what my sister would get though.  Too much stress.  She was always doing too much.  Mix that with an allergic reaction?  I really feel for you.

I checked out that new site.  My only question is, how do you download from it?   Isn't that always my question?   I think I've got most of those stories from ffnet or TWCS.  I actually am getting to like TWCS.  But FFnet still has the best selection of stories.  I've come to the conclusion Twilighted is mostly Bella/Jake stories.  There are Bella/Edward stories, but they are pretty much all human.   ;)

To me, the meadow is canon.  So it doesn't bother me.  Things that usually bother me are usually things that some writer puts in a story and then everyone else picks it up like it is canon.  Then you have to think - was that actually in Twilight?  Because I don't remember it.  Yet, now I don't know for sure.  Like Truth or Dare. I don't remember that being in the books, yet just about every writer of a vampfic has it in there. They do bet a lot, if I remember correctly.  But that was it.  :P

Say, are any of you A.A. S-D on Facebook?  I got a friend request & I can't tell if I know them or not.  I'm a little wary of "friends" there as some will spam your feed with junk if you friend them.  They aren't or haven't asked to be a member of the group, which is why I am asking....

Thank you. I'm slowly, slowly getting better. I'm still on horrible meal replacement shakes and can't handle solid food - I tried again on Friday night and it was a spectacular failure!

I had an allergic reaction to the medication I started - crazy mad itching, rash, puffy eyes, swollen throat - but the new stuff seems to be ok. My doctor said that I seem to be "hyper allergic" so am reacting to everything, even things that have never been a problem.

At least I know that there is nothing life-threatening. My imagination got the worst of me last weekend as I was waiting for test results, and combined with feeling as lousy as I was, I was not in a good place.

Anywho...

For anyone keeping count - yesterday I was reading three fics at once!!! THREE!!!  :o

Yesterday, I read You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.

I want it all. I need, and I take, and I abuse. But I love my Love, and I love my Sin. I can't let either one go.

This is the first fic by this author and she has some real talent. It's a cheater fic, and I wouldn't even describe it as HEA although I guess it is, but it's a clever fic - my sympathies for the 3 main characters shifted with each chapter. I really don't know what to say about this fic - I wouldn't have said that I loved it, but it has stuck with me - I find myself thinking about it and wanting more - so I guess I did love it!

It's short - 22 chapters, but only 50 pages when I flagged it - but not a word is wasted. Please read it and let me know what you think - maybe someone else can articulate what I'm trying to say.

Also - new fanfic site seems to be getting some positive attention: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Even I can navigate my way around it!

Sorry you've been so poorly, glad you're on the mend
So, I read your rec. and I'm not sure what I think about it. For sure, it's well written. Through B's eyes, I got a good idea of who Love is, Sin remains elusive. What does he do? Is the stuff in the cabinet a clue?  Shite, I'm being all cryptic and mysterious but I don't want to say too much and spoil it for other readers. Let's just say that it left me wanting more
I also checked out Fictionpad briefly. Are all the fics rated under 18 or do you have to have an account to get the more mature ratings? Easy to navigate site and they make it so easy to find Twi fics.

I've sent Fictionpad an email asking if downloading is possible and how. I'll let you know if I hear anything. It's still pretty brand new - I think it may have only launched this weekend - so most authors are still figuring it out.

I read somewhere recently that writers aren't liking Twilighted because of their verification methods - some chapters were taking ages to be approved, and even though less people are posting there, the wait is ridiculous.

I know exactly what you mean about My Love, My Sin - I liked it but really want more. I think the fact that I want more indicates that it's well written, and it's "finished" bit there are unanswered questions that I really want to know the answers to!

I should have mentioned earlier to skip the a/n's. Because the chapters are so short and so...solemn?...I found the a/n's a little distracting.

When you first open up Fictionpad, you click on Start Reading, then you can filter by Fandom, Genres, Characters and Other. In other, there is a maturity level: Under 9, Under 13, Under 16, Under 18, All Ages and Mature Only. It's also in Other that you can select the Completed only button.

Perhaps an account is needed for more mature fics - I started an account and then had to change the account settings and put in my DoB to see the mature fics.

Thank you all for your good wishes - it's been a rough few weeks and just as I think I'm getting better, something else blindsides me. School holidays start on Friday, so I'm hoping to get lots of R&R to regroup for the last 10 weeks of the year before my 6 weeks Summer holiday.

My brother had something similar once. He took two different kinds of flu/cold medicine and got a terrible reaction from it.

He had to stop taking all kinds of medication except one anti allergenic one. And his food had to be all fresh. Nothing bought from cans or that had conservatives in it. Like, even tomato sauce had to be homemade. No peppers, etc.

So I'm guessing you can eat more than shakes as long as it is homemade and with only fresh spices. He ate for a long time grilled chicken and meat with boiled potatoes and veggies.

;( that sucks.

He almost had to go the hospital, but thankfully the anti histaminic injection the doc gave him was enough.  I think it lasted for a couple of months until his body could recover. He never had anything as severe again.

He normally is a bit more sensitive because he is always on a diet and very self conscious about eating right. So when he doesn't ( he will let got and go crazy on vacation) he sometimes end up with some diarrhea (tmi). But it's not related to the allergy, more to his life style.

So don't worry, it's a PITA, but I doubt you'll have it again.
Take care honey

Watch out, this is T! So, no lemons, no cursing. But a good story. Not only a lovestory, but action, supernatural. Nothing you've read 100 times over.

Thanks Anchalee for the recs on these, I liked them both!

Like you, I found Finding Courage to be quite original with its paranormal premise. It has been some time since I read a T story, and I found it refreshing. I liked the rules of this alternate vamp universe and the action within it.

Come Back to Me was great as an extended one shot, but I could have used more. I love the movie it was half-way based on, Somewhere in Time, so I already had that story as a foundation before reading this (which probably helped). Lovely little time travel fic. Thanks!

Good god @ some of the comments on that article! The Rob and Stew fans are still bitter!

The article was so so, the comments? Oh my God, WTF? Some people sure be cray cray...This should be a cautionary tale to all new young actor; never, no matter what those stupid PR/marketing people tell you, mix your private life and professional life....keep them separate  Or simple put, don't shit where you eat, and if you do sit in it....

Finally finished Sleepers, I don't think I used so much tissue since Dusty. Loved it! Would recommend it whole heartedly but with the caveat that if you don't like mystical magical films like Pan's Labyrinth this might not be the fic for you...I remember thinking while reading that it reminded me very much of Del Toro's film and in the final AN she admitted it was one of her inspirations. It is not 'pat' it is not 'simple' or easy and you have to work pretty hard, in a way, to get to and keep a hold of what is going on, there were times when it (the plot) would literally slip through my fingers, I'd think. 'Oh, I get it!" read a few pages and think. 'Huh?'  I almost didn't read the outtakes as I felt it finished beautifully as it was, but after a while I gave in to convention and looked for 'closure'; I'm kind of disappointed in myself for doing so. 4*

I just 107yearoldvirgin's blog post and just have no words.

This time last week, I was really feeling down - my temperamental health issues had left me feeling really upset and anxious and I was a bit over everything.

A visit here and a text message from a very dear friend that I have gotten to know via PTS got me through the weekend and through last week and now I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

I can't imagine seeing pure evil and hate every time I turn the computer on. It makes me so angry, and so very sad, that there are people who are so cruel - and adults none the less!

Remember the outrage we all felt when Rickell told us what her daughter was going through? There is no justification for bullying, but some of us had a very small amount of empathy for the other child because her home life wasn't great, and unfortunately a small amount of teasing - definitely not bullying, but teasing - is something that everyone goes through, especially in the teenage years.

Why does it continue when we are adults? What deep-seated need do these people hope to meet by destroying the confidence, self-esteem and potentially, the lives of their victims?

For God's sake! These people are adults - and THEY make the decision to visit a website and click a link to a fic and then read the fic. No one has ever held a gun to my head and forced me to read anything on ff.net!

Even the thumbs down button was a source of angst for most of us!

I hope 107 is still hanging around here - it's a positive place and I'd like her to know that there are still decent people in the world who do genuinely care for each other.

Astro you do know we love you, and we enjoy what you write around here

Personally PTS is my heaven this is where I go to unwind from the BS at work and/or RL. One visit here and everything looks better.

107year if you are around here and you're reading this, the please know we think that you're a wonderful writer and I'm glad that you are in a better place and people if you don't like a story then don't read it, period. And all comments on the stories we make here we do try to make them constructive and not all mean.
Don't forget after downloading please press the Thank You button. It doesn't take too much of your time.
