  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Bella had pale skin as the moon, Chocolate brown eyes with matching hair color with a hint of Red when the sun hit it at the right angel; she died it a bit because some pieces had blue in
I couldn't help myself, I had to share.

So, should we gearing up to buy knock offs when The Pretty launches his line. I know he likes to draw, I saw a pic he did for a charity and it was really good, but who knew fashion intrigued/inspired him. Bring it, let's see what he's got.
RP and KS are no more. E&B are forever. Some people need to learn to separate the two. Btw, she seems to be missing in the tabloids lately, what's she up to.
Demaris, a glowing review for Sleepers, why the tissues? Is it not a hea? And please don't say hea-ish, give it to me straight. Benecio Del Toro?

Guillermo del Toro. Tissues because not only is it beautifully written but it's achingly sad at times...HEA? I hate when you ladies ask that, I want to say 'beeytches (with all the love I feel for you all  :-*) read the damn (with deep affection  :-*) story!!"  :D I would say it's "ambiguous" but there's an outtake if you need it...How's that?   :-*

I was just thinking that a great charity fundraiser would be to get him to do a bunch of sketches, gather together the project runway all stars (or something similar) to get them to create each one, then have a fashion show, and auction for the sketches and creations.  Obviously this is above my level of charity contribution, but it would be fun to watch.

Money or rather the lack of it is a real pain in the ar*e.

If you haven't read How to Win Back the Love of Your Existence by Missypooh (and its sequel) do give it a go.   You can find it here:-  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

This is the problem with children - they grow!

My solution is - stop feeding them! You save money on groceries and they don't outgrow their clothes.

See - I'd be a perfect mother!  ;)

Did I send you the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login anthology? It has some funny writing.

Also, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login is great for a giggle. It's a WIP but she assures me that it will be finished.

What about an oldie but a goodie, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login?

Um. Hi. I don’t really know how to say this, but I have your kids with me, and I was thinking maybe you would like them back. So yeah… call me.

Finally finished Sleepers, I don't think I used so much tissue since Dusty. Loved it! Would recommend it whole heartedly but with the caveat that if you don't like mystical magical films like Pan's Labyrinth this might not be the fic for you...I remember thinking while reading that it reminded me very much of Del Toro's film and in the final AN she admitted it was one of her inspirations. It is not 'pat' it is not 'simple' or easy and you have to work pretty hard, in a way, to get to and keep a hold of what is going on, there were times when it (the plot) would literally slip through my fingers, I'd think. 'Oh, I get it!" read a few pages and think. 'Huh?'  I almost didn't read the outtakes as I felt it finished beautifully as it was, but after a while I gave in to convention and looked for 'closure'; I'm kind of disappointed in myself for doing so. 4*

So, so, so many tissues.

It really got to you didn't it?  I suppose the author wants to show sometimes love and life suck big time, (a bit like real life at times).

This story is really worthy of publication...more so than many of the fics that have.

Mmmm? Maybe not real life, I get that, but I do want to be 'moved' in some way and 99.9% of the time sugary sweetness, skipping through the f**king meadow (God! I hate that goddamn meadow!) just doesn't cut it. Plus, I think I'm weird, I actually felt that Sleepers was an HEA just in a unpredictable, non-cliché (canon) way.

Oh I agree.  Real life is enough of a pain without it being forced on you when escapist reading having said that, some stories just cannot end happily.  :(

OK not real life but more maybe more realistic.  When reading ff I like everyone to be 1) Rich or well off (stuff being poor).  2) In love or on the way to being in love 3) Smart and funny (not fond of dullards or fools). 4) Live HEA.   On top of which I like it to be well written with a decent plot and completed, not asking much is it?
