  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Loopy, he's cuter in RL too. And when he has a little scruff -   :57:
OMG, I'm so jealous right now and I can only imagine what he looks with scruff. *drool*

My Dad was a massive fan too.  I remember being terrified of that pocket watch!

He also pre-ordered Pale Rider at the video store and we were not allowed to speak or move whilst it was on.
My Mum is the one who is a MASSIVE fan of Westerns.
She actually did the same as your Dad - I remember my Dad coughed while we "watching" it and she went a bit Sean Penn on his ass and then just for the hell of it rewound the video to the beginning.  :o

Guess we were never really into Westerns in my country. so the earliest i can recall of Clint was the Dirty Harry series and Every Which Way But Loose (with the oranggutan). I thought he was a tough, handsome guy. Oh, to this day, I still sometimes say "Go ahead, make my day"  ;D
Considering my Mum's love of Westerns this is her fave CE film.
All I remember from it is Clint saying "Right Turn Clyde" from it - still makes me laugh though.  :)

I loved Last Call. I'm waiting for TotS to finish before I start it as what I've skimmed has been really good and I'm reading way too many WIP's at the moment anyway.  :D

Because I wasn't quite bruised enough by Feisty's Sleepers Awake, I thought I'd go for another round in the boxing ring with Goodnight, Noises Everywhere.  If you've read Sleepers and loved the writing, the literary extravagance of the tale and her ability to really make you think about what you're reading then you will love Goodnight. If you didn't like the ambiguity of the Sleepers ending or the fact that it didn't round off with a wedding and green eyed babies then this isn't the tale for you....The best way to describe this is as an Adam and Eve tale, in reverse; you will need tissues. There's no epi and no outtakes.....I floved it.

Bella is the only survivor of a virus which has killed off the human race. Is there anyone-anything-still alive on this dying planet? Entry for the Twilight 25 Challenge. Post-apocalyptic good times. Bella/Edward

Now I need to laugh out loud, let's see what my library will spit out in that regard....

I guess I was on a similar wave length after finishing Sleepers Awake as I just read a post-apocalyptic tale too! It's a shorter fic and was written well and fairly realistic considering the subject matter. Dark themes (violence, talk of sexual assault, cutthroat times)

Just cruising by to say all is well, and miss you all. Still working obscene hours, which leaves little time for sleep. I haven't read any fanfics in over a week other than updates to wips. Oldest son heads to basic training Monday. GAH !!

I expected to sleep in Sunday morning, even took sleeping pills to ensure I did. Well that didn't work, I was up by 7am and I went to be at 2.

Sat morning while sipping coffee in complete quietness, I started a new series. Been on my Ipad ages, and I wasn't sure what I would read. I am still stuck on chp 24 of Broken Angel. Been reading it since June. But I don't think I have ever flounced, but then again it isn't getting read either. So I brought up the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout. The 1st book was more of a novella at around 100 pages, so I thought that would be perfect. It is YA so if you need a lemon break, it's perfect. However, 4 books in 3 days, I have learned she is queen of cliffhangers, and when I got to the end, I immediately started the next one. It is paranormal YA and I just learned that it has a movie deal. I didn't know that before I started.

One of the girls has some characteristics of Alice, but to me that is where similarities end. Good writing and great plot development has meant 1-2 hrs of sleep for me. Now I am starting the last book published and I am biting my nails. What will I do until Summer 2014 when the conclusion to the series is published? I know I will be left with a cliffy.

I would add the series to your list. I am pretty stingy with 5 star ratings at goodreads and super shocked that YA books are getting them.

I went to the Roundhouse a few years ago with my Best Gay to see Adele (she had just released 19) and I totally agree with you about it being a great venue for smaller gigs.
It reminds me of the Ally Pally where my and my BG went to see KOL when they had just released  Youth & Young Manhood, so not many peeps knew too many songs but there was us belting out each song and in the end Michael did a shout out to us.  :)
Aww hun - hope you feel better soon.  :-* :-*

Loop, I missed this somehow! I loved that album...I think that is why Dusty holds such a special place in my heart, I bought that first album in 2003 and haven't looked back. The first time I saw them live though was 2004 Glastonbury....until last week; Christ! Almost 10 years! There was a 22 year old next to me that had seen KOL 36 times! When I was 22 I could barely afford to buy a CD! Shhheeet...

I love Clint. His post spaghetti westerns movies are really good. Million dollar baby, Gran Torino, Cry Freedom just to name a few that I like.
Did anyone see his wife's reality show on E. let's just say it was different. She is a pack rat. I mean, they were all crazy. Clint made a few appearances and I never saw Scott. I think he is from a previous marriage. I remember an older daughter too, Allison, I think, she is older than Scott.

I just started a new fic and I wanted to share this tidbit from the second page:

"As he fully vacated his Jeep, it was hard to miss how tall he was. I was already tall at six foot two, but Emmett was well over six foot four. He practically hovered over me."

So. . . He fully vacated his Jeep.  Strange description but then it gets stranger.  Emmett "practically hovers" over Edward because he's over 2 inches taller. ??  Are inches measured differently in this author's world?  I mean, she did say it was AU, but. . .
 :D :D

THAT is a WIP you have to keep watching out for! STarted reading, curious about what it was about, couldn't stop and am now angry at myself because I can't wait for it to end, what will take still some time...  :-\

No, no, no, no, no! I don't do WIPs anymore!!!  ;) I literally had to tear myself away alone from the Prologue. But I'm strong nowadays. I'll wait until this is complete. Until then I'll have forgotten about it.  :D

Ohhh I read this last week after Written and sobbed like crazy, did I not recommend it? That was an oversight on my part... Any way, it was the sooooo good! Floved it!

Perhaps you did recommend it and I missed it, in which case my apologies.  Having said that, it is so good it is worth advertising again.  :-*

PS Mentioning the Roundhouse brought back a rush of memories ...... fades into a world of nostalgia.
