  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

You can also save the banner (right click, save as) and then paste it into the cover spot in calibre. Might be a bit distorted though.

I'm sad. I had a fic all picked out to read, and then I read the author's note, which mentions Bella and Jasper "exercising their demons", and yeah nope! Who wants fit demons?
So I decided to try an old favorite, and reread Colliding Meteors.

 :D :D :D
So Bella and Jasper are personal trainers for demons?  :D

There are worse plots out there!  ;)

CM is always a joy to re-read, I have done so a number of times.  :)  At the moment though I am re-reading Sassafrass Junction, boy it is good stuff.

That is very, very true.  Are you still looking for funny fics?  A fic worthy of re-reading is Mr Horrible - algonquinrt.  If you haven't read it, do.

Good morning! I have another Calibre question: Is there a possibility to get the covers from ff.net via the FFDL or any other plug-in? I love to have the banners from ff.net as covers. flagfic does this, but the FFDL not. So I'm stuck with downloading via flagfic instead of using the FFDL.

If you ever find a good plug in, or something for this, let me know.  I currently do it the long way, but then I also make my own covers for stories that don't have them (although recently I have found I don't finish a lot of those stories - its not flouncing, just not finishing).

I did that a few months ago. Couldn't find anything that looked good so I re-read CM.....it was, for me, one of those fics that wasn't nearly as good the second time around as the first for some reason. Which really stinks because it had been a fav before that. Sigh.

Now, I did read Rosalie's Baby again and THAT was just as good as I remembered and I still lol'd when I read it for the second time. I'm in a fic slump right now and think I may re-read another, maybe the Quiet Room or Unobservable Entity.

I'm reading the second book of The Mortal Instruments - City of Ashes and love it!
Speaking of this book...   have you guys watched the movie yet for City of Bones?    I had really been looking forward to it and thought the movies might be the next big thing, but I thought it was SO disappointing.

Added to never ending list. Sounds like His to Command series by Opal Carew. Originally published as 6 separate chp and then re-released as a novella.

I finished Ava Claire's His Submissive series and was surprised that it wasn't a BDSM fic--the same way MotU/FSoG wasn't.

Reading rdmickey's mention, Opal Carew's His to Command series, now.

For those of you who have read Last Tango in Forks...   is there anything I should know about the Epilogue or the 2 outtakes at the end  (currently reading chapter 23
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
?   I'm really liking this fic and am a little leery to blindly start reading Epilogues every since the "Wide Awake Incident"!    :D   I loved floved that fic and was so disappointed by the epilogue and wished that I could erase it from my mind and stick with the original ending.  Fortunately after several months that epilogue is fading from memory and Wide Awake ends in my mind where I wanted it to.  :)

Epilogue - At Last
Outtake 1- Portrait of a Sex Goddess
Outtake 2 - Spread your Love

I planned to go to the movies next week! So, it isn't worth it? I read  somewhere that they don't even know if they make the sequel.  :wtf: I had the impression they excepted a success like Twilight.

I loved the first book, but the movie was just really lacking.   There were parts that were good and I feel like it had a lot of potential but majorly missed the mark.   The actors playing Magnus and Valentine were awful as were some of the others.   I'm curious what others thought of it.

As a student of history interested in the Englightment, I can tell you the whole thing with Catherine and a horse, was a big fat lie put about by her political enemies.  Having said that the lady sure did like handsome young men but then who doesn't?
Wow!! You really do learn something new everyday.  :)
I imagine that if I didn't skive school as much I might of known this but having sex was/is more interesting.  :D

My friend lent me the DVD as he reviews films for a magazine and if he doesn't get to go to the premiere he watches an Advance Copy of it.
Anyhoo, I was glad that I didn't spend any money going to see it as I was so disappointed - I had quite high expectations as I loved the books but the movie, well it sucked.  :P
I read that the sequel has been put on an indefinite hiatus - good job really as I'm sure I'd rather be a Hu-Cow than watch it.  :P :P :D :D

I'm finding the writing not as good as I remembered, but the story still has me pulled in. Shocked at all the details I'd forgotten though!

Maybe you can help me though. I was trying to remember a BxJ fic I read a while back, it was a vampfic, and all I really remember are a couple of scenes with Jasper driving with Bella in his lap, or Bella driving with Jasper in the seat behind her, helping her control the car. I think it was because it was a car they had stolen that was a classic muscle car, with a lot of power, hard for Bella to handle on her own. And that's all I can really remember, any help? I'm gonna ask on the non-canon thread too.

I can't remember if I read Sassafrass Junction, I *think* I did..... I think I'm gonna do a few rereads, Goodreads has me pissed right now, and I need something to take my mind off it.

I'll go through my read column in Calibre and see if it jumps out at me.

And someone asked: Yep, Colliding Meteors is a J/B fic :)

Matron, if you're talking about their new "policy" which basically discredits their mission statement that goodreads is for readers, then I understand your anger.  I wasn't very active in the social aspect of gr, and I only used it to organize my books so I wasn't directly affected by the change, but I've already left the site.  I have zero patience for that type of censoring or pandering to a small minded and hypocritical

Why, what have they changed?

I really only use it to find a new book to read when fics aren't grabbing me.  The only social interaction I have had on there is adding a few members of this thread as my friends.

SJ is such a great fic on all sorts of levels.  I did read the sequel but it was no way as good as SJ.  As far as I know, it was at that time she had problems with her family finding out that she was a FF author and sh*t hit the fan for her big time.

The impact of reading CM for the first time cannot be beaten nor recaptured however I still enjoy reading it how can you not love her Jasper and Peter?

I have not read RB but will put it on my tbr list.

The Quiet Room is a remarkable fic and I loved it.

I also really enjoyed An Imperfect Love by mistyhaze420, certain parts of which had me in rolling about laughing and others rolling my eyes.  Actually that might be my next re-read.
