  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Breaking Bad- not a fic a RL TV show, no Vamps or Warewolves in sight

So, I'm a little behind on this thread but that's because Astro reminded earlier in the week that I still haven't seen any of the Breaking Bad series. Thanks PK-Leblov I've not laughed at my TV screen so much since Arnie Gold in Entourage...I'm only on Ep2
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Shoot I almost lost the pop corn I was munching on and then almost snorted a few up my nose, between the laughing, crying because it hurt and trying not to puke I thought it best to press pause and come  say 'hi' and 'bye' as I have to get back ot it...

The impact of reading CM for the first time cannot be beaten nor recaptured however I still enjoy reading it how can you not love her Jasper and Peter?

I have not read RB but will put it on my tbr list.

The Quiet Room is a remarkable fic and I loved it.

I also really enjoyed An Imperfect Love by mistyhaze420, certain parts of which had me in rolling about laughing and others rolling my eyes.  Actually that might be my next re-read.

Oh, I loved both her Jasper and Peter (a lot of the non-canon fic canon (does that make sense? lol) was modeled after this fic...The God of War, Peter just 'knowing shit' etc)

I think it was more the writing that I wasn't as impressed with the second time around. I ended up skimming the last 25% or so.

def'y add Rosalie's Baby to your list...or bump it up if it's already there. I flove that fic. Has awesome funny bits, excellent writing (Mortissues, so of course) fantastic lemons and just a favorite all the way around...in my opinion, of course. I still lol at Major Zipper Problem  :D :D. I'm waiting for Troika to complete and am DYING to know the pairing for that one. I've heard it's fantastic...really different as it features a new character (Bella's daughter, I think?) but I don't know first hand yet. I am such a fangirl for Mortissues, though lol.

I don't think I read An Imperfect Love. I *think* I may have started it before but then flounced for some reason.

Another that I've re-read recently was Lessons Unexpected by Alexis Danaan. Not very lemony but I loved it as much as I did the first time I read it.

Maybe you can help me though. I was trying to remember a BxJ fic I read a while back, it was a vampfic, and all I really remember are a couple of scenes with Jasper driving with Bella in his lap, or Bella driving with Jasper in the seat behind her, helping her control the car. I think it was because it was a car they had stolen that was a classic muscle car, with a lot of power, hard for Bella to handle on her own. And that's all I can really remember, any help? I'm gonna ask on the non-canon thread too.

That sounds like An Imperfect Love by mistyhaze420,

She had been in the process of editing CM when she pulled it the last time.  I know there are lots of mistakes and typo's but the story is enthralling and yes it gave birth the "Peter" phenomenon.

I love Alexis Danaan especially her Harry Potter fics. :)

That was gonna be next on my list of fics to check, hopefully this is it!

Am I gonna get spanked, bringing up the non-canon in the regular thread? :-[

You guys mentioned Alexis.Danaan, and I did read her Lessons Unexpected. I was looking at her FF page and found this story: Home Is Where The Heart Is, and it says it is outtakes from A Place To Call Home, which is NOT on her FF page, unless I am blind. Can someone tell me what that story was and if it can be found anywhere?

I've looked at what I have and I have no idea... *shrugs*

But from the AN it's a B/J AH story...

You should ask at the 152 and the non canon thread!  ;)

Matron, if you're talking about their new "policy" which basically discredits their mission statement that goodreads is for readers, then I understand your anger.  I wasn't very active in the social aspect of gr, and I only used it to organize my books so I wasn't directly affected by the change, but I've already left the site.  I have zero patience for that type of censoring or pandering to a small minded and hypocritical

group of people.
I haven't really liked Goodreads the few times I've been there.  The reviewers can be really nasty.  And some of the nasiest are from those who haven't actually read the book.  I'd rather look at Amazon for reviews.  People are much more polite, or at least matter of fact.  They rarely make it personal and if they do they tell you why and it usually makes sense.  I rarely find them to be offensive.  But then, maybe Amazon removes the offensive ones.  ;D

*grabs paddle*  Okay! Who's talking non-canon here?   >:( >:( :040: :040:

Yeah, I don't actually think the discussion has to be canon - I should be spanking you all for talking real books before I spank for non-canon.  Fortunately for you all, my leather outfit is at the cleaners....   :P ;D

Her bio page says something about completing all stories before posting because she learned her lesson.... Could it be she couldn't finish it and got tired of the PM's and comments?

Why, what have they changed?

I really only use it to find a new book to read when fics aren't grabbing me.  The only social interaction I have had on there is adding a few members of this thread as my friends.

I only use Goodreads to find out the order of the series might be currently reading or look something up.
I agree with all of you as i only do the same thing in GR. It does help me keep track of what i've read and my rating for it so i can remember how much i liked a book or not. To be honest, it helps me remember what the story is about bec. if i didn't rate it a 5, i wouldn't recall  ;D. I've learned not to tag "want to read". Right now, it's only at 124 so i am not too "stressed" when i go there. I definitely have more than a thousand in my ipad library i haven't read, not even counting the fanfics. As we all have said, too many books/fics to read, too little time  :P

Off to see what changed in GR....

I'm still waiting for someone to write a program where I can scan the ISBN into my phone and it will sync with my computer so I can have a list of all the books I own available when I go shopping.  I have been known to buy books again because I forgot I already own them.  Usually when I grabbed them at a time I didn't actually have time to read, but thought it looked good.  Then later I see it on sale & forgot I bought it. :P

Of course Calibre will do it for my ebooks. ;)

But I don't want to put it all out on Goodreads.  It is too public for me.
