  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

A fic hasn't grabbed my attention yet to get me back to reading ExB.

Been reading the scoundrel series of Mari Carr, a perfect complement to the p0rn i've been watching.  :D
Give the books a try, lemony goodness abound  :)

Thanks! I'm new to the genre, and I'm trying to decide between the books of Sierra Cartwright, R.K. Lilley, Tiffany Reisz, Jodi Ellen Malpas, and J. Kenner. Any recs on those?

Do you think they wrote it and then sent it through the thesaurus? Or perhaps they speak another language and just ran it through the translator.

Is the entire fic like that? And what's the title - because just that paragraph made my brain hurt!
Lovable Obligation

ON HOLD: Bella is forced to marry the most eligible bachelor in hopes of saving her family from bankruptcy. Will their days together make them get closer and fall in love or will it destroy any hopes of them being together? Set in 19th century. E/B. REVIEW.

The summary wasn't too bad so I took a peek. I like period pieces. Believe it or not but the quote was the second paragraph so I have no idea what the rest is like.  I honestly don't even know where to begin to explain that paragraph. I was dying to post a review but held back. I should be awarded for exercising so much control.

I think throwback lines are the best, what's your sign? My age group ppl, how many times has that line been used on you? You look so familiar, I know I know you from somewhere....and so on

I like Sierra Cartwright and R.K. Lilley.

The Jodi Ellen Malpas series (This Man) was awful.  Besides all the horrible SPaG, the "alpha" male's behavior would be used as an example for the beginnings of an abusive relationship.  And the woman is a total doormat.

:D Wow, and so many people said they liked the Malpas books, thanks for the tip! I've started SC's Mastered series and like it so far.

I worked at a battered women's charity for a while, and I had a really strong reaction to the Malpas books.  I read them, but I was pissed off the entire time.  Unfortunately, there are too many women out in the real world who take responsibility for their partner's bad behavior and think that isolating, controlling, manipulative, deceitful behavior equals love.  Please don't get me started.  It pisses me off to even think about it.  I blasted the first book in a review on goodreads.  I probably got blasted in return, but haven't been back to look.
