Do you guys get the talking popup ads on this website?  I so wish there was an option to pay a fee and be ad free.  I'd think a lot of people would pay to use the website without ads, but not sure if that would even be possible to setup.    I understand why they have them and love this website so obviously dealing with the ads is worth it...  but if I hear "Wanna buy a boat?" one more time I might scream.   

I'm almost convinced that it is somehow unmuting my speakers to. LOL

I use Chrome and I have Adblock, so I don't see any ads on any websites.

I do get a talking alert when someone sends me an email to my gmail account - and it just worked to my favour.

School holidays remind me how much afternoon tv sucks - I was snuggled on the couch (literally - I am using my ugly but oh so cozy snuggie - I only get to use it about 5 times every year) after lunch. I must have been having a little nanna nap when my laptop started talking to me. I need to start getting back into a normal sleep pattern again for when I go back to work next week so I shouldn't be napping and that email was received at the perfect moment to wake me up so I can go to sleep at a decent time tonight.

A "nanna" nap?  We power nap here in California. 

Okay, not really.   

I used to power nap when I was going to school during the day and working at night.  If I got a 15 minute snooze, I'd be good to go for quite a while.  My power naps now take about 2 hours!

A power nap is different to a nanna nap.

A power nap has the intent of napping.

A nanna nap is when you doze off unintentionally, often in a non-napping position.

And on a rare occasion, a good nanna ends when you wake yourself up by snoring!

That used to happen to me all the time when I was in law school.  I'd be studying at home with a cat perched partially on my shoulder and partially on the back of the comfy chair I was sittinging in.  The cat would purr loudly in my ear and before I knew what was happening, I zonked out.   That cat was always messing up my study schedule!

I'm thinking it was the books.  Any school textbooks do that to me...

Well, sometimes it was the books.  But that cat had a purr like a motorboat and when she was on my shoulder, she never stopped.  It would knock me out every time.

Purring is much preferred to what my cats are doing right now.....

Stupid hairballs. And I just vacuumed.  I really think they plan it that way.

When the new kitten isn't killing me, she does purr very nicely. 

My local news are all talking about tomorrow's fireworks, about how this year they are making up for last years disaster. I don't think that possible.

This is what happened, all freaking day waiting for that and it didn't even last a minute.

One of my cats is throwing up everything she eats.  The last time I had a cat that did that, I paid about $3,000 for micro-surgery and then had to feed her through a tube in her stomach for a couple of months.  This while I had a newborn child on my hands, as well.  I've already prepared my kids for the current cat's coming demise, though.  I've decided I'm not going through all that again.  (Boy, does that sound selfish and heartless.)  I think American shorthairs (i.e., mutts, you know, the gray, stripey ones) don't live as long as less mixed breeds and are more prone to liver and kidney diseases.  No scientific evidence to back that statement up, only personal experience.

Not selfish and heartless at all - I had to make the tough decision to have both of my adopted dogs put to sleep, but in the end, it was the kindest choice for both of them.

It's also the reason I don't have any pets at the moment.

We don't sell fireworks here, so when we have them, it has to be done by a licensed person and they're usually pretty good.

You get the occasional illegal firework, especially on New Years, but they only set off one before they have to scamper.

I love fireworks! I turn into a 5 year old every time I see them.

I'm looking forward to fireworks tomorrow night.  My darling daughter has a few days off from her summer camp job and came home this evening.  My boys are not off at camp, so they'll also be home.  We live next door to a university that has a prime, not too crowded area for viewing the fireworks that will go off over a nearby park.  It will be great.  The last time we had fireworks in the area was the night before graduation at the neighboring university.  We were being driven home by a U.S. Marshall after the car accident that totaled my car.  The fireworks started going off and everyone in the car ducked and flinched!  The boys and I were still traumatized and, I assume, it was an automatic reaction from an officer of the law!  Luckily, I remembered fairly quickly that it was fireworks for graduation before we all really flipped out.

ETD: Aww - the poor guy! But it looks like it was impressive for the spectators, even if 16 minutes worth of fireworks went off in 15 seconds.

It's the same here.  Normal people can only use the "safe and sane" fireworks which are minimal things like sparklers and those noisy piccolo petes. 

This year, it is so dry though, we aren't allowed to even use the safe and sane.  Though the next town over is allowed them.  You know what that means.....

We should still get the fireworks at the fairgrounds and then at the ballpark.  They are usually pretty good.  Though I've never seen them all go off in less than 15 seconds LOL! That would have been really disappointing.
