Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Crazy lights in the sky... My kids and I were driving, watched from beginning to end.. It was scary!! [emoji89] [emoji89] [emoji89]

I think I really freaked when it moved sideways. [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33]

Apparently it was a pre-planned Navy missile test  :)

Do you ever notice how the military has an excuse for everything weird that happens?

"No, no, it was a um planned missile shot, yeah that's it! A planned missile shot that we forgot to mention before because we didn't know it was happening until after it happened. Yeah, even though it was planned.  It was not, repeat not, a UFO.  Yeah, that will work"

This news story just appeared on my homepage news regarding the military launch.  Have a website for you guys to check out and report if you see something weird like this when it happens:  The National UFO Reporting Center run by Peter Davenport out of Washington State.  He's a scientist - does this for fun - has a whole other working life - see his website for info on him.  He does weekly ufo sightings reports on Friday nights on Coast to Coast AM radio show - Thursdays if not available on Fridays.  Its an interesting site - you hear about all the ufo reports everywhere within the past week.  He mentioned on this past Friday that there was a ufo sighting in Gardinerl, Maine (next to the State Capital of Augusta) this last week - first time I'd heard about it - just like it was the first time I heard about a sighting in Biddeford, Maine (south of me) in October.   In his reports, if its actually a planet people have seen, he posts the planet involved, etc.  Next time you see something weird, call his hotline or e-mail his website.  He's not related to Mufon which is the Mutual Ufo Network run by a different group.

Lol, I can send Kal-El, Jor-El or Alura your way hun as they are my nephews and niece. My brother was obsessed with Superman and his family, so his kids got stuck with the names but his wife put her foot down for their youngest son and called him Kent as a compromise or I'm sure he would of been called Mon-El or Kal-L (can you tell I probably know a bit too much about Superman).  :P
At least they've all grown up and decided to call their kids "normal" names.  ;) :D

My guilty pleasure is Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files (and other programmes like this) and this is definitely the go-to excuse for a lot of the stuff they look at, the other popular excuse is "It's a weather balloon".  ::) ::)

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login is the other notable one, though I would agree there is a dearth of scifi fics in the fandom.
One of the rare few....

I'm not a massive Sci-Fi fan but I found these for you:
You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login this only a one-shot though.
You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login unfortunatley this is WIP and she doesn't update it as regular as her other fics (last updated 23rd October).

I also found this You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login on FFn, most of them seem to be complete so you might be able to find something you like there.
I also had a play with the filters and found that there is apparently 104 Sci-Fi fics that are completed You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, they seem to vary from one-shots to multi chapters, you might to have to dig through them to find E/B pairing (if that's what you want) though.  ;D

Hope this helps.  :)

Okay guys - it evidently was a missile that the Navy launched off the California Coast (on Saturday?).   They launched another one this afternoon.  George Noori on Coast to Coast was just talking to Peter Davenport from the National UFO Reporting Center  discussing it.  Peter I guess got something like 80 reports that night alone and George said he got all kinds of e-mails regarding it.   George is ex-Navy - he says this is what the Navy does without prior notification.  They were evidently sending some kind of message to the Russians.  So - no ufo's this time around........do keep track of Peter's site however - mentioned above in my last e-mail - and if you see something unusual, call up the site and fill out a report.  You never know.....

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
I wouldn't mind some rain.  We are just cold and windy.

It's supposed to get down to 26 F tonight, and I thought the doors were going to open. I think that's the biggest problem with double doors - though they were great everytime we moved in furniture - I always worry they are going to bang open in the middle of the night when the wind blows this hard.

I just read a nice little mystery.  It is set just after Esme was turned but before Edward left for 10 years.  The ending was a bit of a surprise. I definitely wasn't expecting that. It is canon and a fairly quick read. I do need to check whether I have it in my Google Drive.

LOL, I live in the Canadian Prairies. It is almost always windy here. So, googled and 26F is about -3 to -4 Celsius. We had -8 celsius which is about 17F but that didn't include the wind chill. Currently is is -3C, and -7C with the windchill.
I love being Canadian, but I have to say that our weather sucks!

LOL!  Yeah, you know about wind.  We have regular wind here,  usually 25 to 35 mph. We actually miss it when it doesn't blow. But I don't like it when it gusts up to 60 mph. Fortunately, it only does that every other month. :D

But you will beat us in the cold department, that is for sure.

I wouldn't mind a bit of snow if I was to see this outside my house (gotta love a bit of Nick  :P).  ;)
To be honest though, I don't care if it continues raining here as long as it lets up now and again and doesn't flood like the end of last year/beginning of this year as we're still sorting our house so it's liveable.
