What book?It is sad that years ago we were surprised to find such errors in a book, now it is as though no one proofreads anything anymore.
I think they don't learn grammar anymore in school. Or spelling. They let the computer do it, but the computers aren't perfect. And it was spelled correctly, so spell check won't help. It is sad. Especially if it is not self published
Between spell check, auto correct, text speak, and the lack of teaching, the written language for us is doomed.
That is as bad as what I read in a newspaper today, the journalist used shutter instead of shudder (I swear that bloody mistake gets everywhere).Seems that way hun and it's getting worse.
I think shutter is my biggest pet peeve. And I swear I read one story where they needed to close the "shudders" before the storm hit. Yeah. Though maybe it describes the action of the shutters in the storm? I once read that part of spelling memory comes from seeing the word spelled correctly while reading. There was the English Professor who commented that after reading papers for a few years he needed to take a year off and read real books or he would forget how to spell because his students wrote so badly. Ah, well. Those nuns were good for something when I was a kid, I guess.
I think I spell well because I grew up reading. Self pubbed books are ruining that for today's youth. I'm really hoping most of the self pubbed, unedited junk is staying in the grown up books.I had to stop reading Kristen Ashley, the day I found myself questioning whether past or passed was right for the context I was trying to use it in.
That's bad. I thought her stuff was edited too.
It is NOW, she has a publisher for her stuff, but her early stuff was all self pubbed.
I am currently reading As Children After Play (by judo_lin on TWCS and Cris on FFnet). Vampire Edward, Human Bella, and evil Charlie. I have to say that so far I am really liking this one. I am on chapter 30 out of 49.
