Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Can I just say how frustrating it is when story summaries have really flowery brief descriptions that have absolutely nothing to do with the story  >:( It's cool when you're just reading something new, but if you're like me and are going back to look for a story you haven't bookmarked and the summary lists NOTHING about what goes on, it's probably something you'll look past a million times.

Example: Unraveled Knot by twistedcoincidence "A round peg in a square hole. It's not always the easiest fit that works the best. Maybe if it's not hard it's just not worth it. " I don't remember anything about that story other than it was boring, and I wouldn't recognize the summary if the author didn't have the same icon for all of her stories.

A more helpful example: Ethan Church by dryler "When Bella accepts an offer to write the biography of a severely reclusive author, the old, dying man she’s presented with and the young, too perfect man she meets while there convince her she’s missing some very important parts of the story. E/B, AU." Thanks to this brief description, I remember this story immediately without having to reread the first chapter.

Or maybe it's just me.

edit: then there's also the dreaded "sorry i suck at summaries lol!"  :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!! The trailer also uses a remix of Haunted, so that could be why you like the trailer better. It's also supposed to be released with the soundtrack  ^-^

Listening to Haunted now.

Edit : So after listening to all. I think my favs are

One Last Night
I Know You
Did That Hurt is not bad for instrumental (I usually listen to instrumentals/scores while I read)

The rest....they are ok.

So...for a little Outlander. I think after the 5th restart, I will finish DIA.
Kinda of humbling when you think you are going to read just one more chapter before bed and when you look the chapter is 99 pages !

Yes and those 99 pages are describing the vegetation growing around their house or something similarly mundane!    I've got the books on request from the library and I'm going to start them back up one of these days.  I need to find a site that will give me a detailed summary of books 1-3.

Finally downloaded Written in the Stars. Read a few pages and it was very good. I put it aside first as it's 1,700+ pages. Will pick it up again after i finish Maguire's Happenstance 3. Am just happy i don't go to other sites or got into that drama about her before i read Beautiful Disaster. So am trying not to let it influence me. Again, she may not be the best writer but i like her writing. Am holding off reading the new Maddox brother as i am now really curious about WitS and may finally get me interested in going back to twific  :)
I am 35% into WitS right now and liking it so far (though I'm not just overly thrilled with it like I'd hoped to be). Spoiler since not all of you have read it yet...

I watch religiously but then it is part of my job, but honestly? I do have to wonder about the quality of News that comes out of the US sometimes, My failsafe is to stick to BBC News and I should be OK but its not like NBC/Fox News a small local affiliates which may have questionable fact checking resources?!  :D

I have been hearing "Love me Like You Do" in the radio. It's ok but i would have preferred the Crazy In Love remix and that One Last Night. Am with you on this RDM, am digging that more than elle goulding's song. :)

Not been watching much TV so the only time i hear about FSoG is on here.  Guess am lucky i am not bombarded with it elsewhere so am still keen on watching it, chemistry/good acting present or not.  :)

So, finished Happenstance 3. It was just ok. Weston was a bit of a wuss on this one. Wanted to rate it a 2.5  but gave it a 3. Note, if it's a 3 for me, not a waste of time but don't rush to read it.  ;)

Now off to re-begin WitS. Keypad/kim, i don't mind reading situations you put in your spoiler, i just hope it was written well enough for me to accept it.  :) If this is really good, i will not want to stop reading so i hope to see you guys on Sunday.

Btw, it's my daughter's junior prom tom. She's attending the same all girls catholic school i did so she had to prompose to a boy from the next door all male catholic school my husband went to (and now my son is studying there too  :)). She first invited a guy friend taller than her last month. Then she became uncomfortable with him bec he said he wanted to be more than her friend. She un-promposed last Sat. Her best gay friend couldn't go with her so she invited another guy she's friends/comfortable with. She forgot he was shorter than her so her dad brought her to the mall to buy another new pair of shoes: flats  ;D  Ahhh, to be 16 again....am also excited to see my baby go to the prom!

But what the heck are with kids today with these elaborate promposals. Thankfully, she just called up these guys and made a joke in making the invite. Her other guy friend who asked her classmate to his school's prom even bought rose petals, scattered it along the walkway to his house and rented a smoke machine so when the girl entered the house, he will walk through the smoke carrying another bouquet of flowers. Then he fed them all (6 of them were there to witness/help set up the promposal) hand made pizzas and pasta he prepared. Gosh! The parents of that kid was probably loaded.  :P

Oh I don't know....the Twilight soundtracks were better than the films, especially the first and last two...it's following a well known trend  :D

I'm loving both of The Weekend's songs....and I have to agree that I also prefer the trailer version of Crazy, this one, I think, is trying just a little too hard...All in all a pretty good OST.

Nope, no joke! Promposal - invitation to the prom. Whoever thought of this must be working for hallmark cards or something.  ;D I never paid attention to it but it has apparently been a trend here for a few years. What's wrong with simply picking up a phone and asking a guy or girl? Good thing my daughter followed my advice and didn't do anything elaborate.

Some ask during a fair, soiree or event in public. Guess the girl/boy thinks they won't be turned down if done with witnesses. But my daughter and officemates tell me of not so successful ones. The few promposals i've heard of: a seranade; carrying a sign "Will you go to the Prom with me?"; giving cupcakes or cookies forming Prom; bowling where instead of players names on the screen has: Mike Prom With Me?; a parlor game during a soiree where the answer to be guessed is prom and then the girl unfurled a poster she's carrying that said "...With Me?" follwed by her friends popping party poppers to release confetti when the guy accepts... arrrgggghhh, cheesy, but must be flattering and exciting to the one being proposed to. But to spend a lot of money just to ask someone to the prom, that i don't really like. It's nerve wracking and embarassing enough to simply ask someone out. To  think of something to make a spectacle of yourself when asking makes it so much worse. I would gladly shoot the person that started this silly promposal trend.  >:(

Booked, I was exactly the same when I first started reading...Trust me when I say WiTS is one of the best stories in the Fandom, the author worked really hard creating this alternative universe and she pulled it off admirably.....Floved it!

Wow, nobody else any suggestions or recs? I was hoping for something new to read with a bad guy Jake that I haven't read yet. I am sure you all know how it goes, tons of stories on the TBR list, and nothing to read.  :D :D

Talking about the chemistry or lack of between FSoG's Christian & Anna, I have to say that I  :iagree:  there just isn't any. In addition I still think that the actress playing Ana isn't right for the part.
