Booked, glad you and yours are ok.

I just use USB sticks to back up my stuff. My family and I are looking to get a large mobile hard drive and connecting it our router for all of the users in our home, but we just don't have the funds for that yet. Maybe I should look at something online.

I know we've discussed this (I was paying no attention at the time ::) ) but what Cloud would you say is the easiest to connect, navigate and manage content on?
I quite like SkyDrive as you get 7GB and Words, Excel and One Note free.
I seriously couldn't live without Words and Excel since becoming a TB so it's godsend and saved me about £80+ buying it.  :)
I also like Dropbox as I've got 50GB free on that - I had to introduce some friends to get the extra 35GB (or whatever it was) which was meant to be free for only a year but 3 years later and I've still got it and they've still not started charging me for it, but shhh don't tell anyone it's our secret.  :D :D

I've been using SkyDrive, but it makes me mad cause it won't recognize epubs. I saved an epub to the drive and tried to open it up on my phone, and it wouldn't let me (said there wasn't an application that could perform that actions--bullsh*t!). Is Google Drive any better?
What ereader do you use on your phone - I use Aldiko and have no problem downloading epubs onto my phone to read.  :)

Hello!

I just popped  on (even though I've been lurking sporadically) to say thank you to Booked for recommending Amy Noelle's second book.
I haven't read a decent fic for a while but hadn't actually read anything for over a month!

I hope things are improving fo RDMickey and Booked and that everyone else is okay.

Take care.x
Hiya hun, hope that you're okay.  :-* :-*

This really made me laugh:

I crapped the phone out of Edwards hand to text Alice. :D :D :D

Just like how I'm crapping the phone of the table right now so I can answer it.  :57: :57:

There's a series I read by Susan Elizabeth Phillips called the "Chicago Stars Series" about a fictional football team, and she's written a few books for the characters in that series but they don't really overlap the way they do in fanfiction. Like one person will get a story and then the next book takes place a few years later so it's a whole different set of characters.

Supercreep, Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Chicago Stars series is good.  She has another one which I can't remember the series name but its Hollywood connected which is just like the Stars series in that one person gets a story and then several years later someone else gets a story.   I think the beginning book is Glitter Baby.  The latest book is Call Me Irresistible.  She has a new book coming out in a couple of months  but I have no idea if its a series book or a standalone.   Her standalones are pretty good also if you haven't read them.   Deirdre Martin has a series on a hockey team called The New York Blades which is enjoyable and you might want to try that.   Who knew I'd ever be interested in hockey.   It focuses on a particular character and then each succeeding book focuses on another character which may be one of the players or connected to the team somehow - like a brother related to a hockey player or the family who owns the bar that the players like to hang out at.  She's not as good as Susan but still enjoyable.

I would never read the Undeniable series, personally. The reviews make it seem like just a huge fustercluck or angst and cheating and jerk behavior, plus, the author has been known to go after negative reviewers AND sic her fans on negative reviewers. Not gonna reward an another when I KNOW she's exhibited such bad behavior.
*Fingers in ear, singing at the top of my voice* La la la la la! I do not want to hear Undeniable is a series. La la la la la! I read the first one; now everyone know I like my fiction out the box, I've got no triggers to speak of and I can do cheater/beater/slaver you name it, if it's fiction and well written, I'll give it a go. But this is SH!T! In fact I'm not even sure this author is female, and if she is, she hates women. Eva Fox, has all sorts of issues going on, granted, for, in the words of Matron, a 'fustercluck' of reasons, every female in the book is portrayed as a screwed up, male dependant, sad sack with no redeeming features, again that may well be true of the sort of women who inhabit this world, I have no idea, it might be realistic ( I'd be happy to be taught something new and outside my reality) but I sure as hell know that human beings aren't 2 dimensional and flat as pancakes; a female author who liked women would have portrayed them in a less 'misogynistic' way. And, when it comes down to it, even misogyny I could probably forgive if this story was well written but it ain't and then reading (above) that Ms Sheehan has the cheek to not take fair criticism graciously, well that just pisses me off! Hmmmm? It's been a while since I wrote a review on my GR page...... You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Found the second of the angsty drabbles I actually thought was good.  I realized the reason I couldn't find it was it was pulled.  There is one more that more sweet than angsty really.  But, of course, the title eludes me at the moment....

Your Side of the Bed by Quietdrabble
After 15 years of marriage, Bella finds herself all alone on her side of the bed. She wonders if her marriage has simply worn thin from the hands of time. Though, nothing is as it seems inside her tangled web.

It is available here - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Yeah, normally not a big angst or drabble fan, but I did read a bunch during the drabble wars.  I liked the funny ones best. But there were a few well written drama/angst ones.

But the only downside with Jared is that he's great at so many things - music, acting, writing and he even looks a better woman than most women I know.  :D :D

My phone's a Galaxy S5 - so I get all my apps from the Google Play Store, which is where I got Aldiko.
I think it's only downloadable through Google, so if you've not got an android phone I don't think you can get it but don't quote me on that.
I'm sure someone else on here probably knows another way of getting it and not having an android phone.  :)  :-*

I downloaded the nook and kindle app on my ipad. But i tend to forget i have them and don't get to read my books there at all. So i ended up using just my ibooks for epubs and pdfs. I will convert a kindle book to epub using calibre. Haven't read a nook book in over a year. I just have libraries in my ibooks: books for real books, pdf books, pdf fanfic and epub fanfic.

I downloaded aldiko to my sister's jailbroken nook color last year so she could read my epub and pdfs. I eventually got tired of navigating through her nook to search where she downloaded the books i emailed her (she complains her nook is broken bec she couldn't find the books she downloaded  ;D) Thankfully, she was gifted an ipad mini by her kids (probably took pity on me trying to teach her over and over and over again how to look for it in nook  :D)

I've heard my daughter mention dropbox and seems to be a popular. One of these days i will really look into cloud storage...

Oh, i decided to read reaper's MC 2, Reaper's Legacy. I am reaaalllly enjoying it. :)  My heart twinges when these MC guys think they don't have to be faithful...am halfway through and waiting to see how things sort out, HEA hopefully...

Aldiko is a nice free app for reading epubs and PDFs on an Android platform. They also have a paid version with more capabilities, but the free is good enough. I did pay for the Mantano reader -they have a free version also - but that was because my Kindle with Read To Me option died and I was having trouble finding another.  Most of the newer models don't have it.  I like it for reading textbooks to me while I work.

There are a few other readers but those two are probably the best.  And?  I don't think Nook offers them on their app store.  If you have a Kindle Fire you can get them in the Kindle app store as well.

I use Mantano, Aldiko, and Moon +. I have to tell you, I like Moon+ because of how it connects to calibre so seamlessly, makes getting my books from my laptop to my tablet SO easy.

I got the paid versions of all of them. I figure my only hobby is reading, I can pay for the apps! I think Mantano is overpriced for what it does, but I do like how you can customize the colors. Moon+ has a setting that lets you see the remaining time in the chapter/book, which I love. No other app has that. Mantano has page numbers, but they're kind of obtrusive to me.

I used to read all my fics in one app (Aldiko or Mantano) but it's so much easier to get the books in Moon+, I just seem to default to that these days.

Moon reader was my favorite originally. I liked that I could have a parchment background with sepia print. Very easy on the eyes. I think I went for Mantano only because it had the best recs for read to me. Adilko just seemed to work the best with PDF.  And other than Mantono, I've only used the free versions.

I didn't know Moon Reader would sync with Calibre. Is that just the paid version?

I gave both Jenrar and Drotuno a hard time. They both started writing vampfics at the same time and Jen's ends today and the last real chapter of Masen Manor posted today. The epi is scheduled to post Thursday.

I've started a couple other vampfics that are WIPs but they don't post regularly. And they definitely aren't as good. :(

*nods* I haven't read either, but I know people are/were flipping out about Masen Manor.  As far as vamp fics goes, maybe I'll try one.  I was thinking about The Lolashoes trilogy, but I'm not sure yet.  Honestly, a Potter fic that I love updated yesterday so I am flipping out about that.  The next update is scheduled for November 1, according to tha author.

In terms of reading apps, I use FBReader, Moon Reader and Aldiko.  I'm not sure if I'll go to a primary one, but it seems that FBReader and Aldiko are the ones I use the most.  I'm pondering buying one of the paid versions.  I usually use the Kindle app but it must be buggy with my version of android because a bunch of apps crash many times a day, including my Kindle app.

I only have a Moto G, but I'll probably get a new phone in the next few months.  Yay more screen real estate!

I have no idea, really. I paid for it fairly early on. I do know it goes on sale fairly often, so keep an eye out. Even full price it's still cheaper than Mantano though.

In Moon+, go to Net Library, then add new catalog. Select calibre local, then add in whatever your ip is in calibre, which you find under the connect/share tab.
