What I find is if I've had a run of bad fics I'll stump off in a grot and open a book. Un/fortunately, if the book is part of a series then my return to fics is delayed until I get to the end of it. After catching up with all  the In Death books I read 4 (count em; FOUR!) bad fics in a row, I couldn't get out of the Dom fast enough! I ran out screaming with my hair on fire  :D I think if I didn't enjoy 'speaking' to you ladies so much I'd probably never read another fic again, it's on here that someone will mention a fic and I'll think 'Oh! That's in my library' and I'll go and investigate and start reading fics again, until my next bad experience, and the process starts all over again.

Discovery of Witches is well worth breaking your fic addiction with, its a really good book. I've the rest of the series (it hadn't been completed when I first read Witches) waiting for me once I finish Outlander.

I have 2 fanfics lined up to read and then I will read the Discovery of Witches. Well that is the plan at least. I read pretty fast, so I don't expect it to take me very long to get through the 2 that are in front of Discovery of Witches. When I read a bad fic, I usually go to something from my re-read list that I enjoy.

Why, Oh why do I do this to myself!!

I thought if I read a fluffy fic I might be able to leave a polite diplomatic review for a really sh!t ARC I just finished.
But this fic is even worse than the ARC.

Seriously it really says something when the flashbacks are mildly more interesting than the present.
Just another time I wish I could flounce.

I really, really hate when stories are told in past and present, but Diva Diaries managed to make it enjoyable with the love/hate relationship between Bella and Edward, it probably helped that she had it up in the summary that they were a couple with a past~ so you just needed to keep reading to figure out why they fell apart.

I can't remember what Edward's deal was, but I was expecting a different story based off of the summary. I will definitely be reading when she releases them next year.

See? You're a much nicer person than I.  I sulk, call the author very nasty name I can think of, come on here, rant, then stomp of to read a book. Don't get me wrong sometimes that doesn't work out either; This Man, That Man, which ever way a sh!t man, weren't good choices of published fiction for me.....But *shrug* C'est la vie.

Okay Loopy and Demaris (actually also Tricklem) - want a recommendation for a good author? - try Lucinda Riley.  Currently reading The Midnight Rose by her.  Irish author.   Books start out present day and then switch to backstory taking place during either WWI or WW II depending on the book, then switches back to present day story. then back to backstory.  I blame a friend for this rec.   Each of the 4 books I've started and the first chapter I kind of go - uh....maybe - and then I get completely hooked.   The Lavender Garden (probably my favorite so far - at least with the backstory), Girl on the Cliff, The Orchid House, and Midnight Rose.   Neither of us have read The Italian Girl yet - we're waiting for a good used copy to turn up when the price goes down.   Lucinda has a new book coming out in the next few months.

I should have started reading posts from where I left off two days ago instead of starting with the last post and working myself backward.  Ella - thank you for saying Kathleen Woodiweiss was dead.   I kept hitting posts mentioning her and whether she was putting out a new book and I was going BUT SHE's DEAD.   Regarding Catherine Coulter's FBI series with Savitch and  Sherlock, for anyone who hasn't read the series, take some advice.  I love the series but DO NOt - I repeat - DO NOT read The Cove which is the first book in the series.  IT SUCKs royally and is probably one of the worst books I have ever read.  You will not gain or lose anything if you ignore it completely.  All it will do is turn you off of the series before you've even begun.  I've got her latest Power Play from the series in my TBR pile - probably after I finish Midnight Rose which I'm about a third of the way through.

Ignore Demaris.  Mr. PA must be out of town.  Of course Diva Diaries is HEA for B/E.  It's a rough road though.

I am trying, but it is soooo hard. I have gotten as far as adding the epub to my phone for me to read it. Just haven't cracked it yet. I have decided to sell crochet work on the internet for extra cash, so my reading might end up taking a bit of a back seat. I swear that this has been moved way up the TBR list. Thanks, it is nice to hear from someone that has read it and really liked it.

I did really enjoy it :) I thought it was really well written and *LOVE* all the historical references :) :) :)

I totally get it... I feel like I barely have time to read these days, school has started for the kiddos and I'm exhausted and busy!  :'(

No Mr. PA?  That explains alot,   :D.  Thank you FFG,  I dont mind a rough road, just not full of major sinkholes, and as long as there is a happy ending.

Need some help! I'm writing for my friend.. (*ahahahaha... really!). I feel like an infant when it comes to reading FF since I've only been an addict for the past 2 1/2 years..

She's been reading FF for a million years and feels like she can't find anything she hasn't already read... SO, need some rec's :)

She likes:  Young B&E, nothing too angsty, Bella's got some spunk, doesn't read like a sitcom, and nothing too BDSM...
It doesn't have to meet all of that criteria, but that's the variety she enjoys the most :)

OK you master FF readers... GO! :)

I finished Diva Diaries and absolutely loved it.   I've heard people recommend that one many times but never got around to reading it.   I'm so glad I saved it.  Was a very pleasant surprise after reading some things recently that were just ok. Now I'm wondering what other hidden gems I have waiting in my TBR list.
 >:D

I know I've already said it, but the way KiyaRaven did the back and forth timeline and B&E's trust issues etc.  It was really really good.   She's a wonderful writer.

I'm laughing at the bit about them falling off a cliff!  I was nearly at the end of Diva Diaries and I saw that and for a second though "oh hell no!" then I realized Demaris was most likely kidding.    limomx2 - I always ask that HEA question too!  I need to know what I'm in for.    I guess the trouble is HEAs are subjective.  I've actually come to thing of Dusty as a happy ending...  just not a traditional one. :)

It is a really close call, I think.....but, I think TBH squeaks in by a hair. If Outlander has just ended with the first three books it might have been a tie.  I'll tally-up again once the Outlander series is finished.

To be totally honest I don't like historical romances, all that bodice ripping? Not my thing. What makes Outlander work, for me anyway, is that element of time travel, the heroine is from 20th century with a modern woman's sensibilities. The juxtaposition of the modern woman with the 18th century man keeps it from sinking into cliché.
I can't form an opinion on the first 3 Outlander books anymore because I'm swayed by the fact that I ended up getting bored at around book 5 and not finishing the series.   If there had been only 3, then maybe I would think it was up there with TBH.   Nothing can ever touch what I felt for Tatiana and Alexander in The Bronze Horseman series.   Well, I can only dream of the day that something does. LOL   That book was amazing.  I wish I could force more people to read it so she can have more 5 star reviews on Goodreads!

I'm also definitely not a fan of historical romances (or history in general for that matter)...   I don't even think I've read one with "bodice ripping". LOL    That's why I was so surprised that I liked TBH.

What am I going to read next?   I need someone to convince me to start the Gravity series...    seems like it might be different from all the other stuff I've been reading with mercward!  Is the series complete? and is it lemony? LOL  is it a page turner? I want something I won't be able to put down.
 >:D

Or maybe a really good vampward?  I have these three on my short TBR:
Taste of Innocence - Nolebucgrl
Vampire in the Basement - michellephants
Hide and Drink - Savage7289

Isn't Vampire in the Basement one of those must read fanfics from way back when?  I see it on lots of peoples top fics lists but the summary just never catches my attention.
