I have finally finished the Outlander series (well, until she writes book 9) it took me 3 weeks to the day to read all 8 book (OK I sneaked in a couple of fics when no one was looking ), Jesus! They were bloody long! Plus the Lord John series and his novellas ( which I could have done without)
WOW FFG, I feel the same way. I am planning on taking a weekend vacation. Just me myself and I, a bottle of wine, hotel room, bubble bath and my Kindle. No phone, no TV.
Ahhh... So it's not a Twific?
Reading things~ Pretty sure I flounced Age of Consent back in the day. I like the writing, but the author is always super descriptive and I feel like she takes forever to get to the point. I was also a little creeped out. That Bella is all about seducing Edward, and Edward is in his late 20's and I just don't know what he's doing being such a grody perv. Plus it's just so long and wordy. I remember reading another fic she wrote, Brown Study, I think..and I read the whole thing but didn't really understand what I just read. I finished and just wondered what the point was. That honestly doesn't happen often. REAL books!I stayed up reading the Songs of Submission series by CD Reiss last week. I don't know if I liked them as much as the author is really good about leaving out crucial details that made you want to keep reading. So I did. Until 6am. I had to be at work by 10, and my boss THANKFULLY told me she was busy and didn't need me for the day. So that binge was worth it. Huge random surprise, Addicted to You by Bethany Kane was pretty raunchy as well and had some beautiful dirty talk by a drunk Irishman. Now I'm comparing everything else I read to it. They seem tame in comparison.Got the new Susan Elizabeth Phillips book, Heroes Are My Weakness. I enjoyed it, but the heroine is a bit of a loon. She's a ventriloquist and not only are you reading her dialogue, but the damn puppets too. Really cheesy.I just finished Arouse by Nina Lane. Found it under "Best Dirty Talking" on Goodreads. It's highly rated, but I thought it was a little boring. I made the mistake of reading the synopsis of the two books that follow, and think that I've read enough of these characters drama.
Yep, the thing about Age of Consent is he is 26 (a lawyer) and she is in high school and is only 16. I can't put my finger on it, but something about it just gives me the creepy vibe (of course, I'm still reading it LOL). The way he refers to her as a little girl or maybe its his descriptions of her that seem off. I'm not sure, but I'm going to wait til the end to make a decision about it.I've been wanting to read Songs of Submission... do I remember correctly that it's about a couple that have been married for a while? Addicted to You sounds good just because of the dirty talkin' Irishman! ;-) I've also got Arouse on my kindle, too bad it's boring!
Anyone have surrender by eviekinz? It's on the index but the liknk isn't to that story, it's for the long road home or whatever.lol. I have a way of finding the links that don't work.
lol most of these authors at least try to get away with the age difference by making Bella at least 18. Then it's still creepy, but legal. Reading about someone my age trying to get it on with a teenager just squicks me outtt. I CAN understand the allure from a teenage girls perspective with the whole hot older man that is sooo mature and has more life experience, then I try to relate to someone that's 26 and attracted to a baby?! NOPE. I did actually read Unteachable and almost finished, until I got to the big reveal~ and learned how creepy that dude was too. Said bye and didn't waste any more time. Songs of Submission featured a struggling musician and a hotel billionaire. I'm really tired of all these BDSM stories, but I keep reading them! Mostly they just grate my nerves because it's always the dude that implies that the heroine is weak and naturally submissive~ and she doesn't know what she's missing out on, and he's right there to open the sexual gates of pleasure for her to take her to depths of ecstasy that she's never known!!! In Songs of Submission, the heroine is very strong willed and doesn't take any shit from the hero. She's constantly thinking about what submitting implies, and has no problems letting the hero know that's she's in charge of herself and that act would be a gift to him. So far nothing is comparing to Addicted to You from this list and it was only a stand alone (edit: i should probaby clarify that i'm on the hunt for books that are raunchy with a plot that isn't cheeseball city, which is almost half of the things on there)You are not allowed to view links. Ok, so now that you've finished it... which series do you like better? TBH or Outlander? ;-) (Answer carefully!)A solo vacation sounds like heaven to me! My husband and I are both very much ok with us each having alone time, but once we had our daughter that all changed. I'm very rarely by myself anymore. The idea of staying in a hotel with just my kindle and no interruptions sounds delightful! Not a fic... Unteachable is by Leah Raeder and it is really good. I highly recommend you read it since you have an appreciation for "pretty words". And if I remember correctly there is a good bit of angst too.
Loopy, how sad that you had to change your sig, I don't remember it being that explicit! I see plenty of people here with the kissy mens! (including me)
I'm going to go up to Edinburgh for a few days next week (before the referendum) on my own for a few day and so looking forward to it. The minute I say 'holiday' at least three of my girlfriends will say "oh! When and where?!' I haven't been away by myself for ages...so I'm sneaking away and not telling anyone!
Lol, that's a great idea before they start banning English and Welsh peeps (I'm sure they're tempted to do this). I love Edinburgh, it was the only reason why I used to hook up with a guy from there as he would invite me up there for the odd weekend and I used it to get away while my daughter was with her Dad.Talking of my daughter I realised I've totally lost my marbles as I thought yesterday was only the 2nd September which meant she had 12 days til her 16th, but it turns out we're already on the 5th September which means there's only 9 days til her birthday and I've still gotta buy her something.
Finished Unteachable really well crafted story Leah Raeder can write, reminiscent of Tiffanie DeBartolo who wrote A God Shaped Hole anyone who enjoyed Unteachable will love A God Shaped. I have to admit for a while there I thought it was going to end differently but I should have know better .....Kim Kim you might be a padawan Angstyhoor but I know you still have to have a li' sugar UnteachableYou are not allowed to view links. There's spoilers in the review incase you haven't read the book. I just enjoyed her critique and clicked the account to her page and had a moment "Hey! I know this author I just flounced her book!"I'm not even going near A God Shaped Hole. Which reminds me, are there any books/stories you have read that left you with a nasty feeling months after reading? It wrapped up, but I randomly remembered the twific The Consequence of Miracles, and it was like a punch in the gut. Just thinking about it put me in a bad mood and I had to go read some fluff.
am sorry Loopy and Demaris, but i just got to say that i like watching the audition part of American Idol. First time i saw The X Factor UK was this morning and it was hilarious. What was showing on cable was season 11 with Simon, Mel B, Cheryl Cole and some old guy i don't know. I get a good laugh watching people think they could sing but are simply horrible at it. I love those that look so weird, shy or unassuming but out comes this awesome voice, it's amazing! My kids and hubby were right with me, laughing then being amazed then laughing again.
Don't even joke about it, I'd be heart broken if Scotland leave the UK Though I totally get why they'd want to.... Is she having a sweet 16th birthday party or is that only for bratty little f**kers on MTV? Or the borough of Kensington..... I suppose I should say 'thanks' to you too Loopy Girl for once you haven't totally screwed me over with reading material

I no longer stick around for the actual competition, used to before, til the finale of AI. But after some not so good seasons the past few years, just stopped watching once they are down to the final 20. Had a fun saturday morning lazing around and laughing with the fam though
