I never used to read more than one book at a time...  Didn't understand how people could do that.   I think it's a bad habit I've started!

I have a very bad habit of having 5-6 books on the go. I've alwasy read like that, when they were physical books thee would be one in the bedroom, one in the lounge, one in the bathroom and one in my bag and depending where I was sitting I'd read the book available. Now its worse because my iPad hold...well, I don't even know how many books it holds, and they follow me everywhere!
I still can't read several books at the same time. I have no problem reading Time or random magazine articles (i.e. shit reads) bec i definitely don't want to bring my ipad to the toilet.  :P But when it comes to books, i guess my brain can handle only 1 at a time. As it is, I get confused or don't remember some books after reading it, moreso if i read more than one.  :-\

I have, however, already learned how to flounce.  :( I started a few chapters of The Ugly Duckling Bakery and For The Summer but wasn't feeling it so i "put it aside". They looked promising but still didn't grab me enough.

Oh, and since i just synced my ipad to my PC, i know i have 2,037 books and fanfics total in it. Not counting the ones on my PC i purposely didn't put on my ipad bec i wasn't sure i would like the story nor author but just hoarded them anyway  :P When i'll get to read all of these? maybe up to my next lifetime.  :P

I was exactly the same with my books, it used drive everyone insane when they ended up tripping over at least one book they found on the stairs.  :D :D

I did the same thing when I stopped reading books and just read magazines for a while, to the point that we had a magazine rack in the toilet.  :P :P

So I'm so glad for having a couple iPads - one for upstairs, one for downstairs still drives everyone nuts though when they find my iPad in the toilet and they think they can just read the book I'm reading or start another one.  >:( >:( :D :D

I wish I had your total hun, I've not synced mine in a few months but last time I did sync my iPad as it was 40,000+ so god knows what it is now. I'm gonna be busy reading when I'm dead I reckon.  :D :D

Gone Girl
« Reply #3643 on: October 14, 2014, 10:12 AM »
You guys MUST watch Gone Girl! Absolutely loved it. Didn't notice it was 2.5 hrs long bec it was really engrossing. Not to mention Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike were gorgeous and did some great acting. They had some HOT scenes too.  ^-^

I knew the book was such a hit and got a lot of rave reviews but i never got around to reading it. Have any of you gals decided to read a book because you saw the movie version first? I have often watched movies bec i read the books, similar to what i did for the Twilight series. Which is sometimes why i get disappointed after watching the film bec the books are almost always better than the movie. But so far, i have not read a book after watching the film.

Finally started reading Deviant, I'm only a couple of pages in and I had to share two of the funniest lines I've read in Twifics for ages, especially for Onebitelover..

"I'll have you know I've been told I have sex hair."
I raise my eyebrows and spit out, "By who? The Hobbits?"
  :D :D :D :D Too funny!

I've been putting off reading it because it starts out like PWP. But maybe I should suck it up and zoom past the first chapters.  How long until there is story?

Okay, not long I guess.  The coyote ugly at the beginning threw me off.

Am giving this a go. Not liking the Fu Manchu stache image. But will persevere, i can gloss over physical descriptions and just use my imagination  :) Will read 5 chapters then am going to sleep as it's 1:45am now. I decided not to go to work tomorrow and do some errands. Good night, ladies!  :-*

My daughter read the book and saw the film.  She's been trying to get me to read the book, but now says I don't have to if I see the film, because they stuck really close to the book.

See, me too. The beginning was a bit blah for me; I'm now on chapter 6 and though it's very witty I'm not loving it, yet. What I am enjoying is realising that every fic in Plantblue's awesome fic list I already have!  :D

That's good to know,  as it's one of those books that I keep meaning to read and just never got around to, but I really wanna see the film so knowing that not having read the book won't make a difference might mean I'll be able to talk the hubby into watching it with me. [emoji3]

Talking of audible versions - Kindle Unlimited lets you d/l unlimited audible books as well as Kindle books, so it's a decent deal all for $9.99/£7.99 a month plus you get a free months trail which is a helluva lot cheaper than most other places.

I've been using KU for a couple of months now and love it.  :)I love that convo, definitely one of the funniest I'd read in a while.  :D :D

They just started advertising Kindle Unlimited on Amazon.de. I only glanced at the article, and didn't translate it too well, but do the books go away after a month?  Could I just download everything I want in the first trial month, de-DRM and then have it in my Calibre library?  Or do they have some prevention against that?  Do you have to sign up for a year in advance or something? I know I wouldn't have access to new books each month.

I seriously wish I hadn't seen that picture of RP because that was all I could see when I thought of Manchuward, which wasn't sexy at all, as far as I'm concerned. It was a good story, very well written and a good return to twific for me after being away for...bloody hell! Three months?!

Jez Louise, Man Booker Prize again and I have yet to read last year's winner!! *sigh*  :(

Vampward Fics

Howdy all,

Can anyone provide a list of good vampward fics for me?  I've read quite a few and I've enjoyed them.
Thanks in advance!

Here's a confession: I'm on my 2nd free months trail with KU.  ^-^
I first used it on Amazon.com, now using it on Amazon.co.uk. , so here's how it works:

>You can "loan" up to 10 books a day.

>
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

After you've read or whatever the book(s) you then go to your manage device setting and just return them and start all over again.

>I'm not too sure how many audible books you can take out at once as I've only taken out a few and saved but I should imagine that it's probably about the same amount.

>You can cancel your subscription at any time so you don't even have to carry it on further than your free trail.
I cancelled my US trail by transferring to one of my other accounts (I've got accounts with US, UK, French and Australia Amazon  :o), but you don't need to do this. Just go to the "Manage Subscription" and cancel or keep that way.

Hope this makes sense.  :-*

I am really liking this one. It's also been months since i was "eager" to go back to reading a fanfic. Slept at 3am (slow reader), woke up at 6 and instead of going back to sleep, i went back to reading it. Do like the way it is written, their snarkiness with each other  :)

Here is what i picture of him in my mind, no stache but just the right amount of scruff for me:

I'll second on The American Vampire series by Just4Ale.  Love it and have read all 4 of the series at least twice.  According to my favorites link, they are still on ff.net along with a couple of outtakes.

I read the book and had mixed feelings about it...  It was riveting, but still not sure what I thought about the ending.   I've heard great things about the movie and definitely want to see it soon!

I typically read the book first nowadays...  but back before I was much of a reader I watched the first HP movie and then started reading the books to see what happened next.  I suspect I may want to read all the books after I watch the Maze Runner too... but that was a book that I couldn't really get into.  My friend told me that I quit reading right before the good stuff started happening.

I had a major issue with the stache image too...  I put off reading it forever because of that! LOL  There was even a cover art image that someone made and he really did have a manchu.  Does anyone still have it?   Totally not my thing!  I like scruff, but not a full manchu! ;-)

That is cracking me up that all these pictures of him showed up with that awful stache right when you decided to read Deviant.   LOL I'd be picturing hoboward for sure.      I'm glad to hear that you liked Deviant...   once you get past the initial Coyote Ugly stuff I thought it ended up having a nice story to it!

Is it bad that I don't even know what the Man Booker Prize is?

Not a fan of the look, but am so happy to see him in such good spirits! Ain't it nice he seems more open with his affection with twigs? Maybe he is less stressed or they are more mature perhaps? Just glad he seems so happy.  :)
