ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Hey all you calibre experts out there! I need some help. I'm getting a new laptop, it should be here in a few days, and I need to know the best way to get my Calibre libraries from this laptop to the new one.

I have most stuff saving right to my Dropbox account, with Twific still in Google Drive. Is there anything in particular that needs to be done? Any tips or hints to get the metadata to save?

If you can fit your whole library onto Dropbox, it is one of the cloud storages that does work with Calibre.  Otherwise I would recommend setting up an account with You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.  load it on your current computer, copy your libraries into the copy folder  (copy the whole Calibre library folder as is), and sync to their servers. Then on your new computer, you can put copy on it and let it sync.  Otherwise, I would just copy the Calibre folder to an external drive or sd card and move it that way.  Either way, once you move it onto your new computer, you just have to point Calibre in the direction of your already existing libraries.

Just don't use Google Drive to do it. Google renames the files and messes up the database. When it happened to me i was able to get most of it back.  I did lose a few stories. Fortunately, they weren't ones I planned on reading.

Most of it's in drobox. I quit messing with Drive for calibre once I saw all the problems you were having. I do have a copy account, but I can't remember what's in it, lol! I'll have to look. I have multiple libraries in Dropbox, but I should be able to just point it to each of them and get back to where I am now. Right now I'm working on the library itself- lots of entries with no formats (I dunno how that happens!), and tons of books I'm never gonna read, taking up space. Haha, isn't that why I went ebook- so I don't have to worry about space anymore?

First, I have to shout "I'm reading a fic!!!!!"  This fic is started in 2010 and recently completed, in the AN the author mentioned a random compilation she was writing a O/S for and, because my fic magpie tendencies have not dimensioned in the months since I read one, I decided to investigate (the author didn't give the compilation's name ) and after scouting away from 15 minutes there it was in FFG's amazing index; what the F*ck did we do before we had that?  FFG, a big  :-*  to you!

I've been working too hard and not keeping up here, but I'm glad I came back to check in.  The pat on the back is like a great big hug!  Thanks for taking the time Demaris!  Glad I could help.

Has anyone read any of her stories? She is closing her FF account and I was curious if they were worth saving.

I want to say her stories are on my TBR list.  But I always forget why.  Usually what happens is someone is looking for a story, gives a bit of a spoiler that makes the story look interesting, and I decide to read it.  Only by the time I get to it? I've forgotten why it sounded so good in the first place.  Anyway, a couple of her stories fell in this category, but none of these sound familiar.  :-\

I don't have anything I go back to for Christmas reading, but there is a one shot challenge going on for Christmas, as there usually is.  This year it's the Mistletoe Contest.  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I'd describe them as "cute" :) Nice and fluffy!  :cupid:

There are a couple I think could be turned into full fics :)

I started reading her first fic and flounced it, but I flounce a lot of stories that other people rave about, so I don't know if that says anything or not. I haven't tried any of her others.

Most of the one shots that I read for Christmas are on Breath-Of-Twilight's countdowns. They aren't on ffnet any more, but I believe that they are in the  index that Fanficgirl worked so hard to put together for us.

  • I'm Sassy and I'm addicted to Twilight Fanfiction
The first Fanfiction I ever read was a Christmas one. It was about Bella going with Alice and Jasper back to Forks to visit and Edward was there with his new girlfriend Tanya, who no one liked, and Edward was always secretly in love with Bella. It was great. Can't remember the name though. It was before I had a ff account too

Not one for 'Christmas' stories as such but one of my favourite stories, full stop, just happen to be Patty Rose's  The Twelve Days of Christmas. Read this twice; there are not many fics I've bothered to read more than once, even those in my top 20....

Now I have to admit, straight up that I'm a pretty political person, I'm the one you'd have seen at Uni standing outside the Student Union urging fellow student to vote...to this day I'm what you might call a political activist so I have a fair understanding of the US' political landscape, its representatives and general in and outs...so correct me if, at some point along the way, I missed something like the Speaker of The House LIVING in the White House?!! Mofo why won't authors do a little f*cking research?! And if you can't be bothered then don't write about politicians ( or anything else you don't know about), writer about people who, I don't know, work in a supermarket!

I think I've heard others recommend this one too!  Sounds like perfect timing to start it now.
