I would like to see such a  list with new good writers.
Let us do it.
Um,  yeah.....I have a really crappy memory for this stuff. LOL!

If I remember eventually, I'll be happy to write it. I've been betaing for Redtini. She's fairly new and I enjoy her stories.

I don't think that Twilight fanfiction is dying, so much as the whole of Twilight fandom has already peaked and is declining. It usually happens when there's still hype surrounding a franchise, and now that all of the books have been released, and all of the movies have come and gone, there's not as much excitement~ for the series. But there are still people that love the story and want to add a bit to the characters. Though I do think that with as many authors that have pulled to publish their stories, we might see more and more people trying to cash in on their ideas. Which is great, but personally, more than half of the P2P stories I've read were so bland I didn't really see the need to publish other than the prospect of earning a little money  :confounded:

Last week I was actually going through all of my old Harry Potter fanfiction bookmarks and found a HUGE post on HP fandom data You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login You can see how the fandom numbers dropped throughout the years ... It's still number one on FF.net, followed by Twilight. To this day it still amazes me just how quickly the Twilight fandom exploded. Back when I stopped reading Twilight fanfiction in late 2009, the FF.net archive was only around 2,000-3,000 stories if I'm remembering correctly. Now it's at 216,000+  :o Granted that's over a five year period, but still.

Now I have a couple reccs so this post isn't completely useless with my opinion

AU. A reclusive vampire's swan songs for the victims he regrets draw in a young woman struggling with her father's illness. As fate brings them together, Edward's dark past threatens to tear them apart. ExB. Won 'Best Overall' 2011 Vampie Award.
Rated: Fiction M - English - Hurt/Comfort/Romance - Edward, Bella - Chapters: 34 - Words: 258,615 - Reviews: 3,228 - Favs: 1,903 - Follows: 1,565 - Updated: Mar 16, 2012 - Published: Jun 8, 2010 - Status: Complete - id: 6036342

SO GOOD. I don't even like most Vamp fics, but this just tied with Trippin Slippin Stumbletumblin' by YellowGlue for favorite Vamp story. I also hate Twilight retelling stories, because I just hate reading the same story over and over again, but this is such an interesting spin on Edward and Bella. Edward is not a Cullen, and Bella is not a shy teenager. It's a completely different story and I swear if Twilight had been closer to this, fanfiction would have been way more interesting.

Something True

With too many secrets and a haunting past she'd love to forget, at seventeen, Bella is sure love doesn't exist. College dropout Edward Cullen can't seem to keep hold of love, or his music. A cottage, a lake, a tree, a muse, wrong choices, and heartache. How will these two cope with life and keep afloat? A daily word-prompt WitFit. Alternates between past and present. AH E/B
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Angst/Romance - Chapters: 48 - Words: 94,470 - Reviews: 4026 - Favs: 1,261 - Follows: 1,201 - Updated: May 31, 2013 - Published: Mar 15, 2013 - Bella, Edward - Complete

This was on my TBR list and I finally got around to reading it. This starts out being told in past/present flashbacks which always drives me nuts because I usually feel like it's a ploy to get the reader to keep on with the story, just to see how it all unfolds, but the pacing on this was quick and we got to the root of the problem soon enough. I don't think the angst tag was needed, because it's pretty tame, but with all that Bella goes through it might be necessary. I really loved this Edward. He's broken and sad, but he doesn't take it out on the rest of the world like I've read countless times. He just turns into a hermit in that little cottage until Bella befriends him.

PLUS, both of these stories feature dogs if you're into reading about stories with pets  :-*

Have you read Wide Awake yet?    They are young in this one, but to me it's one of the greatest fics out there!

I haven't read it, because they are younger, same thing goes for High Anxiety I've heard a lot of good things about it I just can't make myself read high school stories. I have read high school fics that I have enjoyed in the past they just don't appeal to me anymore. I think it's because i'm so picky about how believable a story is and a lot of the hs stories are more unbelievable. Thanks so much for the recommendation though. Like I have said all recommendations are welcomed and GREATLY appreciated!! There are few things I dislike more than a fanfic slump and boy am I in one!!

I absolutely require an ExB HEA too, but I read Dusty and was content with the ending.    I don't consider it a non-HEA fic.    But, some people do... I guess it's up for interpretation.      It's not one that leaves you gutted or mentally broken.  I feel like it ended on a positive note.

I have to have a HEA where it's some time later they're married and 2.5 kids! Lol I can't do even kind of HEA! I'm not brave enough! I don't think I would be satisfied with the story if I wasn't for sure they got their HEA!!

was hoping you liked vamps then I was going to recommend Trippin' Slippin' Tumblestumblin...     But since you're ok with college/high school...  definitely check out Wide Awake if you haven't read it yet.  It's incredible!

I may have to try Wide Awake since it has now been recommended twice!

really liked Sexy Silk (actorward)!    And there is a really popular daddyward, but I'm forgetting the name right now.   He's the author of adult books I think?   What's taht one called?  I still haven't read it.

I have read Sexy Silk and I loved it! So good rec.! Lol I think you're referring to Secret Life of E.A. Masen?? Maybe not, but I started reading this one and stopped it just wasn't what I wanted at the time. I think I will for sure go back and finish it!! Thank you SO much for all the recs. They are all greatly appreciated! And anymore you may have would be appreciated too!!

I don't mind HS fics, but I couldn't get into High Anxiety.  All they seemed to do is sit around, get high, and hint about past problems that seemed kind of overblown.  At least Bella's was to me from what I could tell.  I didn't stick around long enough to find out Edward's issues. It really just didn't grab me and I have no urge to go back and finish it.

I did love Wide Awake.  Partially for the cookie named chapters.  But also because of the way they both had actual issues from their pasts that they were dealing with - and not by getting high. And they were able to help each other out.  There was a bit of a New Moon thing near the end that, from an adult viewpoint, was understandable.  So it didn't p*ss me off like most "New Moon" moments do.  To me, it was more dramatic rather than angsty.  Whereas High Anxiety was trying too hard to be angsty when it was just a drama.

And I know some people loved High Anxiety.  Maybe if I read more than 50 pages of it?  Probably not.

To me, a great HS fic is Tropic of Virgo, Hit by Destiny, or Loner.  Though Tropic of Virgo is the best if you don't like angst.  The other two are a bit on the angsty side.  All have HEA's for B & E.

I love Sexy Silk.  I also like Emotional Warfare by Completerandomness, but I wouldn't say it was the best writing.  I though she pulled it to fix it, but when she re-posted it, it was still a mess as far as SPaG errors.  Really cute story though.  Collegeward/Geekward.  Really sweet and kind of innocent.  You are not allowed to view links. The Real Life of E A Masen is hilarious.  But it is an olderward/olderella with kids.  Great story if you want a laugh though.

I just wanted to give you fair warning. While Wide Awake is a great story, IMO it does not have the HEA you describe you are looking for. The best way to read it is to NOT read the epilogue. The author isn't named Angstgoddess for nothing.  lol

My go-to author for guaranteed HEA (and those are her words) is always pattyrose, her latest fic Spin & Sway is going to be completed tomorrow.

Swimming Against The Tide by pbswimmer IS MY FAVORITE HIGH SCHOOL STORY! For the most part I think I've progressed from HS stories, mostly due to the reasons you've already listed, but this was so so good, I can't recommend it enough. It's uploaded in the index because it was pulled to publish. It's mostly an Edward and Bella story, but there are multiple point of views from almost everyone in the story which is normally so annoying to me, but it really helped to map out the story when you're getting all the info from different parties. Plus, it's a murder mystery which I've never read in any other high school story.

You know, I read High Anxiety all at once awhile back and thought it was alright, and read it again this past year and I'd have to agree with you.  Completely over the top and the drama dragged on until the very end. She even had drama in the chapters towards the end that should have been the epilogue!

I'm sure much more happened, but that's what I can remember off the top of my head, and don't even get me started on her other story I'll Be Your Lover, Too.

I hope you are write, that the twilight fanfiction is based not only on the sucess of the franchise and people will write also the franchise is over. The mosp popular fics are non-canon. But I have a feeling, not that is based on some figures, that the amount of new fanfictions as the new writers dropped in this year. :'(

I don't think Twilight fandom is dying - its just slowed down somewhat.  People have left yes but that's normal.   Interests change, people end up with crises in their lives, work takes priority, etc.   New people are still finding the fandom.   Fics on Twilighted that I thought had been abandoned have come back to life recently.   Granted its not an avalanche but its progress.  Real life just took over for awhile.  I slowed down and stopped reading fics for awhile and went back to reading regular fiction.  I'm slowly working back into twilight fics.   I also have the new laptop which means I now can get into ff.net again.   They updated just enough so that my 12 year old plus laptop wasn't compatible with the site.   I could link onto a story on the site but I couldn't get past the first chapter of anything.   The screen wouldn't change which has a tendency to put a wrinkle in reading.   And we have the problem of p2p which is annoying.   One of the authors on Twilighted just finished her Rob fic and is now planning on working on an Edward/Bella fic.   There are new stories cropping up slowly on Twilighted - unfortunately some of them don't really appeal.  I don't happen to have an interest in Bella and Edward in 1918.   I'm a non-active Star Trek fan these days.  Have been a fan since 1966.  Star Trek fandom has gone through tremendous changes since then.   I remember paper zines and newsletters.  Unfortunately, the internet killed all of that although I imagine reading Trek fanfic is a lot cheaper these days since you can read it on line and not have to pay $20 for a fanzine.   I stopped being an active Trek fan around 2000.  The Boston Star Trek Association bit the dust as did the Star Trek Welcommittee, The Jonathan Frakes Appreciation Society, the letterzine Interstat, and a couple of others.  You could only join the Official Star Trek Club online which put a dent in one's membership if you didn't have computer access unless you were at work.   William Shatner's fan club upped their membership fee.   And unfortunately, a lot of older active fans started dying or dropped out for various reasons.  At least 4 ST books a month showed up in the bookstore.   It got ridiculous and I gave up and gafiated (got away from it all - I assume there's a new name for it these days).   I guess my point is that Twilight is going through the same growing pains Star Trek has over the years, just on a smaller scale.   I also agree that Twilight fics did go through the roof especially after I joined Twilighted in 2009 (I didn't start reading the books until August 2009 and the first movie I actually saw was Eclipse.).  The biggest growth was in AU-Human which doubled in size on Twilighted.   At that point I was more into AU, Twilight and New Moon.   The stories on New Moon were all gravitating toward Bella mourning Edward and either entering a mental institution, becoming a druggie to cope, or cutting or becoming a slut and a biker babe.  Then it swung the other direction and she developed a spine and tried to get over him and do something with her life.    and I think I'll stop now - I'm starting to ramble and if I continue this will turn into short story length.   Its also somewhere around 4:30 am and time to think about going back to bed.

Forgive me Gods of Fiction for I have sinned.....I decided, against my better judgement and FFG warning, to read the final book in the That Man trilogy.....No amount of Hail Marys is gonna help with the blasphemy of L'Amour calling herself a writer, let me tell you. WTF? I wanted to beat Jennifer McCoy into a bloody stump and then set fire to her body...And as for Blake Burn? May he melt in the fires of Crap Romantic Hero Hell.  >:(

RANT OVER  >:(

LOL, just finished the trilogy and have to agree with you. Don't want to give too negative reviews so i still gave it 3 stars though it deserved a 2.5.  I actually really liked book 2 though, it was a 3.5 star for me.

FFG was talking about THIS Man, which i haven't downloaded bec i heeded her comment  :)

Ok, well if you need a wedding and kids, don't read Dusty! :)   You'd be disappointed.     Oh and about Wide Awake... while they are young, from what I remember there is almost none of the high school drama going on because these two really only see each other at night when everybody else is asleep.

And Yep, The Real Life of EA Masen... that's it.  Everybody recommends it as a favorite fic.  I tried to read the beginning but it didn't catch my interest...  I'm typically not that into humorous fics so maybe that was it?

Kimkimkim if you must have an HEA for E/B do NOT read The Elusive Mr Cullen. It is not an HEA as most of us would describe it. :P
Thanks for the reminder...  this one always gets mixed up in my mind with another one that has a similar name.   Same for High ANxiety vs High Fidelity.  I know one of those I'm not supposed to read due to my issues with needing an HEA. ;-)

Thanks for mentioning this...   Wide Awake is probably my second favorite fic now (behind Trippin' Slippin'), but that's only without that epilogue.  I liked the way the fic ended, but to me the epilogue was a major downer!  I'm going to reread it one of these days without the epilogue in the hopes that I can erase that ending from my mind. :)

I was confused...  I thought maybe That Man was the last book of the This Man trilogy.  LOL So, not only do I dislike the This Man series, I also really dislike the generic title!     I will definitely be sure to remember NOT to read That Man either.

Dude, all opinions have value. Please don't think any post is useless. Feel free to comment or share anything you want here  :) You might not realize it but we all learn something from the people we "meet" here. I really appreciate and thank everyone who has shared themselves with me here.  :-*

Go ahead, giving opinions, oversharing and crazy talking is welcome and expected here, just as Ella has warned at the top of each page here  :D :D
I get really depressed when no one talks here LOL! ;)

Say whatever you want. I'm good. :)
