From IMDB on Shannon:

Mini Bio (1)

Shannen Doherty was born in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, on April 12, 1971, to Rosa (Wright) and John Doherty. Her father worked in a bank, while her mother owned a beauty parlor. She has an older brother, Sean. Her ancestry includes Irish, English, Scottish, and remote French. In 1978, at the tender age of seven, she and her family moved to Los Angeles, where her father started a West Coast branch of the family transportation business. Shannen has always been close to her family, who disciplined her from a young age. She knew she wanted to pursue an acting career when she made her acting debut at age ten, with a role on the series Father Murphy (1981).

Shannen was a confident student, involving herself in school performances and working hard in school, by making sure she always had exceptional grades. Despite her confidence, she isolated herself from large crowds and preferred to have a few close friends. She made a name for herself as a child actress at just 11-years-old, starring in Little House on the Prairie (1974) as Jenny Wilder. It was Michael Landon who noticed her performance in an episode of Father Murphy (1981), that he decided to cast her. She then went on to appear in Our House (1986) with Deidre Hall and Wilford Brimley. She also starred alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt in Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985) and then in Heathers (1988), a teen comedy also starring Winona Ryder.

Her real success came in 1990, at the age of 19, when she was cast in Aaron Spelling's long-running hit series, Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990) as Brenda Walsh, the twin sister of Brandon Walsh, played by Jason Priestley. She attracted media attention from the press and eventually made her a household name. The success of the popular teen drama appealed to young teenage girls who could relate to her character, Brenda Walsh. After four years, she left the show in 1994. Afterward, she continued her work in movies, starring in the thriller Almost Dead (1994) and the comedy Mallrats (1995).

During the fall of 1998, she reunited with long-time producer Aaron Spelling, when she was cast as Prue Halliwell on Charmed (1998), a show about three ordinary women who happen to be witches. She starred alongside Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs. After three years, she left the show to find work in movies. Before her departure from the show, she had directed three of the last episodes in which she starred. She continued her work in movies by starring in Another Day (2001), The Rendering (2002), The Battle of Mary Kay (2002), and View of Terror (2003). In 2003, she hosted season one of Scare Tactics (2003) as well as season two with only 8 episodes, and then left to pursue other endeavors.

In the fall of 2004, Shannen made her return to television on Fox's drama series North Shore (2004), where she played Alexandra Hudson, the long-lost sister of Nicole Booth, played by Brooke Burns. Eventually the show was canceled after one season. Then in 2005, she landed the role of Denise Johnson on the UPN series Love, Inc. (2005), however after the pilot episode she was dropped from the sitcom. From there she has ventured into new projects and in 2006, she starred in her own reality series, Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty (2006).

Couldn't reach an agreement with the producers of Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990) regarding specifics of her participation in the series finale so using edits and digital effects they removed her entirely from the next to last episode retrospective. An hour long special which included virtually every other actor in show's history.

Sentenced to anger-management counseling by the Beverly Hills Municipal Court for an incident that occurred in August 1996; she got into an argument with 22 year old Corey Hanker and smashed a beer bottle on his car window as he tried to drive away from her. [September 1997]

Was removed from the teen soap Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990) at end of 4th season (March 1994). According to producer Aaron Spelling because of constant conflicts with other cast members and repeatedly late appearances on the set.

Infuriated William Friedkin when she failed to turn up for the first day of shooting for Rebel Highway: Jailbreakers (1994) in Hollywood. As it turned out, she had just returned from Italy, where she raised hell by turning up late for an interview on a television talk show. Friedkin's first reaction was to call for auditions and look at 12 other actresses to take her part. He changed his mind and decided to stick with Doherty.

Family moved to Los Angeles when she was 7 years old.

In 1992, Shannen was a guest on The Dennis Miller Show (1992). She appeared on the fourth show which meant that host, Dennis Miller, was still in the process of getting used to the talk-show format. Early in the interview, she rudely asked Miller if he was nervous and went on to point out his eyebrow which was twitching nervously. This made headlines the next day and before long, Miller was routinely making an effort to lampoon her on his talk show.

While on the set of Blindfold: Acts of Obsession (1994), she met Judd Nelson and they later became engaged.

Lives on a horse ranch in Ventura County, California

On the special, Beverly Hills 90210: 10-Year High School Reunion (2003) she revealed that the hardest thing about doing the show was pretending that Jason Priestley, whom she referred to as "being so hot", was her brother. She then revealed that, years later, people often approach her and ask her about the "weird incestuous vibe" between Brandon and Brenda, their characters. She said her response is always "Uh-huh, you better believe it!".

 Personal Quotes (4)
[in Cleo magazine, August 2000] Let me start by saying it wasn't like I walked out one day and said, "I quit". It was a very long process of quitting the show. Aaron [producer Aaron Spelling] got as fed up with me as I was with the show, and I think it was because the notoriety was too much. People were hating the character and I couldn't take the abuse that came with that. People couldn't separate me from her and I got sick of people assuming that I was as naughty and bad as Brenda was. It was all very hurtful.

[on the tabloid articles] You know, as far as I'm concerned, whatever they write, um, is so . . . it's consisted of so many different lies that it's not even worth justifying it.

Even when I'm called in for an audition or anything, and even when I have to meet other actors / actresses, or be in front of the camera, I get goosebumps.

[in February 2005] I've been very, very, very happily single since October--I ended my previous relationship, and it thrills me to no end. I'm just sort of hanging out and being a single girl and enjoying the moment. I think to just be a girl and have fun is so incredibly important.

I'm going to show my age.  I don't know who any of those people are.  Anyone remember The Love Boat and Fantasy Island?  How about Laugh-In or the Carol Burnett show?

My favorite TV boyfriend was probably Jeremy (played by Bobby Sherman) on Here Come the Brides.
OMG hun, you've brought back so many childhood memories mentioning TLB as when I was young my Mum loved that show and Hart to Hart which was obviously repeated during the 80's so I was stuck watching them with her.  :D

I don't think I watched Party of Five...Is that the one where their parents died and the children took care of themselves? I get that mixed up with My So Called Life...

Oh God! I have no idea how anyone fancied Dawson? He was a dick!
You got it right hun, their parents were killed in a car accident by a drunk driver.
Ohh I loved My So Called Life as well, I squealed so loud when I found out that Claire was gonna play Juliet as back then she was one of my fave actress'.  ;D
I couldn't cope with Dawson and his whining by the end of the 1st season, it was only cos of Pacey (and Jack later on  :P) that I carried on watching DC.  :D

I LOVED PARTY OF FIVE!! Oh Lord... Mathew Fox!!!  >:D  He's still a hottie!! When he was cast on LOST, I swear my panties exploded!  :cupid: :cupid: :cupid:

I just never got into Dawson Creek. I think everyone else around me was really into it... but ehhh...  :P

I FLOVED MY So Called Life!!! Jared Leto was so yummy! That's when I totally fell in love with Claire Danes, man that girl can cry on queue!! Amazing!  :)

Knight Rider was the best!! Kit was the star of that show ;)

Dylan McKay was from 90210, he was the bad boy and I wanted to eat him up and let him break my heart! *ahahahah... I have a T-shirt with his face on it *ahahaha..

I DO! I used to watch them all the time! Fantasy Island was always my favorite! Also watched Love Boat, and I remember watching Dynasty. *ahahah.. Carol Burnett show was always on, as well as Mama's Family :)
Good times ;)

Apparently I "LOVE" everything   :D :D :D :D :D
Matthew Fox that dude has got better with age.  ;)

I loved Kit, that was a reason why I hooked up with a guy for 10 days as he had done his car out to be exactly like Kit including the talking but it turned out it wasn't a great "re-make" and I got bored.  :P :P

I wasn't a major fan of 90210 but watched it as my friends kept on about how good it was.  ::)
Luke Perry and Jason Priestley did nothing for me but I think it's cos they kind of had scrote faces.  :D :D

Random thing and I'm sure that we've discussed this before and it's just me that gets annoyed by this.
But it's starting to drive me nuts that quite a few books/fics I've read have the kids calling their parents by their Christian names.

Is this a thing now or am I just being old fashioned? When I was a kid I got a smack around the head if I dared to call my parents by their first names.  :P :P

Talking about these older shows and older hot guys - I loved Rock Hudson in McMillan and Wife.  I was heartbroken when it came out that he was gay.

I also loved James Garner in everything that he did.

As an aside, none of my children have had the guts to call me anything but mommy or mom (to my face).

Chad Everett was another. Hot Doc.  ;)  Of course, now McDreamy or McSteamy does the job.  Sigh.  :D

Apropos fluffy: I read The Practicum by TheFicChick this weekend. Now that's fluff to my liking. So much UST that I didn't mind the fluff. Perfect - I devoured every word! And definitely something I'd re-read if I had the time. Well, in my mind and theory I'm re-reading a lot.  :P Definitely a great fic for our UST-club! Have you all read it? You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I`ve just finished it and must say I totally loved it (just like Departures). You`re right - it was perfectly balanced between fluff and UST. There`s just right amout of gentenmanly, sweet Edward as well as sexy Edward you want to eat for breakfast. Very good and light to read, no drama, no angst (though I love me some good drama and angst fanfics). Definitely on my list of all times favorites.
Doeas anyone know if she`s still writing (TheFicChick)? Her last fanfic appeared on ff.net on August and I wrote her a PM through ff.net after I read Departed but she hasn`t answered me.
