ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Hey!
I don't know if there is a lot of those, but I would like to read some good AH Bella/Edward stories where animals are important (like in a shelter, or someone is a veterinarian/has a cat/dog, etc).
Thank you!

I'm a bit delayed cause I just got back from my trip to NJ. Had a blast reading all the posts I missed :)

Edwardshandmonkey wrote "The Quiet Ones". It's kinda a bad boy (really a big teddy bear) tattooed Edward, but Bella is really into Clydesdale Horses. It's a really good story. One of my faves.

I've been meaning to read this for ages, I'll push it up my TBR list.  :P :-*

Just finished reading You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, a great read, very angsty (not to be read if rape is a trigger though).

Yippee! Angst! Let me at it!  I have no triggers....Should I be worried? :o
I'm reading 'real' books at the moment; Sophie Hannah's Little Face is the current one, I've got abut 10 of her books waiting to be read...

I don't think I can say I "like" The Perfect Wife, but it does seem to hold my attention about the same way a horrific traffic accident would.

When I first read it I was so shocked! It might have been the first 'nasty' (and I use that word for lack of a better one) Charlie I'd read, I remember thinking. 'Why would anyone want to f**k with these characters so completely'. After the second read, way way down my twific road, I totally get it; why not? I never rec it though, not to anyone, I don't want the responsibility  :o

I originally downloaded the Perfect Wife after it was recommended somewhere, maybe on other story or something, but then I stumbled onto a discussion here that told what it was really about, and while my hoarding tendancies haven't let me delete it, it has not been added to Calibre, converted to epub or added to my reader and I don't think it ever will.

I'm with you. Though I did try to read it. I got squicked out when well, right at the beginning.  Who does that to a daughter?  At least Charlie in EP left her alone.  I guess it hit my buttons LOL!

But then I'm not big on PWP - at least for my Twilight characters. And really, that's what it read like for me.  :P

That's a great description for the type of read it is.  :)
I think I'm quite desensitized as I've read it quite a few times and though the subject matter bothers me (like it should), I can read it without having to literally go and sit and cry somewhere like I did on my first try of it.
At least the fic finished properly unlike the published version (which is heavily edited)

Hello!

Remember me?

I just wanted to stop in quickly to say hello and thank you all for the well wishes and kind thoughts and prayers for my dad over the last few weeks.

I'm been really touched by the kindness and good will from everyone here during what was a really rough few weeks.

Dad is on the very long and bumpy road to recovery now, and I am heading off to Brisbane tomorrow and then the US on Saturday morning.

I've been flat strap these last few weeks with all of the usual end of term work stuff - report cards, annual reports, learning plans - plus getting ready for my trip, then a couple of emergency weekends with my parents.

I'll be in New York from 21-25 June, Atlanta from 25-26 June, DC from 27-29 June, Chicago from 30 June-3 July and Seattle from 3-9 July (Port Angeles and Victoria BC from 3-6 July.

If any of you are around then, I'd love to catch up with you. Please PM me so we can sort out a plan - I don't know for sure if I'll have internet, but I'll be finding a way to check emails daily if I don't.

I hope you are all well - I hope to catch up with you all again soon!  :-*

Astro - so glad to see you on here again.  Enjoy your stay in the USA!  You're not coming anywhere near me, but I'm sure you'll enjoy all your stops.  Be sure to have tea at The Empress Hotel  in Victoria BC, plus there's a great castle style house built by a Scottish immigrant.  I can't remember now if the cute market I went to was in Vancouver or Victoria.

When you're in Atlanta, be sure to visit Coca-Cola (that's all I remember from my Atlanta visit, although there's also a Cabbage Patch doll museum/factory in the area).  There's a gazillion things to do in New York so I'm sure you have a plan for when you're there.  I haven't been to Chicago yet, although I have a trip planned for October.  The only places I know I want to see are the original Marshall Field's department store and what remains of the World's Fair held there sometime in the 1890s.  I think the remaining building is now an art museum.  If you haven't read Devil in the White City by Erik Larson, I recommend it.  It's about the 1890s Worlds Fair (all the planning and construction) and a serial killer that was active during the Worlds Fair. Fascinating stuff.  Anyway, take good notes in Chicago and make recommendations when you get back.

Glad your dad is doing better.  Hope your health is also on the upswing.  Enjoy your trip!

So good to hear from you. Glad that all is on the mend in your family.
I'm from Atl but will be out of town during your visit. I do hope you'll have a grand time. There is so much to do here and you have just a few days here. CNN center, free concert in the park, Centennial Park on Wednesday's, MLK historic site, The underground, Margaret Mitchell house (gone with the wind) and our famous aquarium  just to name a few.
Have a wonderful visit and keep in touch. We miss you a lot.

Hello Astro,

So good to see you posting again even if it is a brief update.  I am so glad to hear your dad is doing better.  I will continue to keep him in my thoughts and prayers,  Talking from experience it is not an easy thing to go thru.  2 years after my Dads 2 massive heart attacks back to back and then open heart surgery for a Defib and Pacemaker and he is still trying to get back on track..

Where are you staying in NY?  I am only 30 min from Manhattan.

Hope to see you back here in full swing soon,  We miss ya around here.  :-*
