Well, dont hate me, but when i was taking my A levels over there, in my sociology class i was the only one who knew who Karl Marx was.

not saying our education system is perfect. its not even good.
since internet people cant spell for  .
they were talking about this on the news, how the companies now have to test spelling before they even ask about specific qualifications.

It is seriously embarrassing if that is the average level of education in this country.  I did sociology at A level too, at least I knew about Marxism.

Probably doesn't help that today's kids have all grown up with "text-speak"  My mom has to Google my niece's emails to her.  Fortunately, I've taught my mother well & she works Google like a pro.

i hate text speak. i do use some stuff to abreviate it. never you = u. but something like because =bc.
here, some of the text speak it makes the word longer. no sense at all.

what i really do is not use the signs(not sure how they are called).
w have many words like this não ( which means no), so i write nao. some people write naum. stupid people.

I thought it was okay.  I didn't see the need for the continued (soft - allegedly) drug use but, I am a just say no kind of girl so maybe that explains it.

The summary made it sound more exciting than it actually was though.

It was well really well written with minimal SpaG errors and it was a HEA - what else can you ask for?

I tried to read this  but I'm weird and I don't like depressing fics and by that I mean that B  and E break up like and make up like it's their job. And it's long isn't it? And I have no idea what could possibly be so interesting that could be that long  ??? ( I like to talk don't I - I said the same thing about B&G and I liked it :D)

Hi again!  I'm finally home and settled from spring break and it took me a while to catch up!

We have a Walmart close by but everyone around here calls it Hellmart. It is an absolute nightmare to deal with and you have to be really desperate to go there.

Our closest Target is 4 islands over in Hilton Head about 30 minutes from here. We have Publix for groceries and the closest one is 2 islands over from ours. We don't really have anything just around the corner down here. Lots of moss and gators though!

Fic Recs:  I read  The Practicum and I loved it. I was so happy to see it complete. 

                          When will I know  by Deb24601  Was a really refreshing surprise. It was full of angst and drama which isn't usually my thing but this one was so good that I had to read it straight through. I sacrificed sleep to finish it! Its pretty short too so I highly rec it. 

                           You belong with me  by Noelleseven  Was another really angsty drama filled one. I have a thing for "unrequited love" themed stories and this was one of the better ones. It takes place in High school so be warned. I rec it to anyone who likes this type of fic.

                            I started   Huh! by silverblossomjordan this morning and I was howling with laughter. It is hysterical and I can't wait to read more. Its a WIP so be warned there. It is a nice change from all of the angst I've been reading lately. 

It's so good to be able to be back on here daily again. I really missed you guys!

Haha. You all live in Whoop Whoop! The only time I have to deal with that is when I am staying up with the horses. When I'm staying at home we have a Coles, Woolworths, Big-W, K-mart, Target, David Jones, Myer, Aldi, Harris Scarf and a host of other stores like 10 minutes from our house at Southland, a big mall. It is very convenient but not a nice place to be. We also have two small Coles and an IGA within about 5 minutes drive, all in different directions, but we only shop at Aldi and Woolies. 

Tesco is not so nice. When we are in the UK we shop at Sainsbury's, Waitrose or M&S. My Grandparents live in Midhurst and their local supermarket is a Budgens; I love that place, it's also conveniently right across from the tack shop!

As for text speak. While it is interesting to study from a linguistic point of view I'd rather stab my eyes out than ever have to read or write that drivel. It takes me so long to figure out what some people are trying to say when they use it, I mean, how hard is it really to type the whole damn word out and exercise your linguistic skills; god knows many people who use it need all the language help they can get.

I saw this fic in the other thread as our great ficfangirl recalled the title based on the storyline given by the requestor. I really liked it!

I guess rebuilding my TBR list has made me look at the older fics i've downloaded and their summary reminded me how interesting they were to me  Right now, i am recreating my list by scrolling through my ipad and opening the one with interesting titles or familiar authors to read the summary. Sucks to lose my lists 

Is it weird i'm saving the FicChick's works bec when i am in a fanfic funk, I have sure good ones that will make me interested in them again? 

In between the fanfics i finished Walking Disaster. Love Travis!

We don't have walmart, target or any of those other stores in europe and australia mentioned. though I have been to walmart, target and costco during my trips to the US. I love Costco!!!!! We have a store here called S & R and they carry kirkland brand and other stuff you can find in costco, albeit at a more expensive price than the ones in the US.
