No ours have all that, that is what I was saying, it's only lollies and junk. The Targets and Wall-Marts I went to in the US had full of Wollworths or Coles like supermarkets in them! Frozen Veggies, produce and everything.

All the electronics in K-mart and junk and rubbish, as are most of their products now they've changed all their stores around. I like Big-W, Target and David Jones. DJs is the best though, they sell large appliances too which I like, not the shitty no-brand stuff from K-mart.

We love Aldi too. Most of our staples we buy from there, only pop up to Woolies for a few brand-name things we prefer and stuff you can't get there. And the weekly specials are often awesome.

I'm a Myers girl. The only problem is, my nearest one is 500km away!

I'm feeling left out!

We don't have Target,  Walmart or Woolworths although we do have Aldi.

Asda is owned by Walmart but I think they are very different to the huge American stores.  Tesco is the biggest supermarket here - if there is a piece of spare land - up pops a Tesco!

I am having a memory block at the moment and I am sure someone here can help. Must have been the reading/ blogging I did while on pain meds from surgery.

1. Someone mentioned a very funny story they were reading. Was it Curveball?
2. I am reading a Wip. Just started it and I know it is not complete, in fact, it only has a few chapters. Edward is a priest. Bella was a nun, but left the church. She shows up everyday at the same time praying. They have had dinner together. It is not Sanctuary. Anyone have a clue? I need to write it down.

Thanks !

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
We just started getting food in our Walmarts and Targets in the last couple years.  My Target doesn't have the fresh produce my mother's has though.  Just frozen and packaged products.  They do have electronics, cheap furniture and small appliances in addition to clothes and stuff.  I live close to a Walmart but rarely buy food there.   And most of our Kmart's and Woolworth's are gone now.

We're actually pretty civilised here  ;)

Astro -
Work has been crazy because we're finally wrapping up production, but it's been a slow paperwork kind of morning so I finally had a chance to catch up on some personal emails, skim through the daily headliners and news about stuff going on in the world and on about 20+ pages of posts on this thread. When I got to your post, I literally spit up my pellegrino all over my lap when I read this comment because while I was catching up on random world news I saw this:  You are not allowed to view links. I'm still laughing and it hurts... want to know why????  Because I've been doing Jillian Michaels' 6 week Abs for the past 2 weeks, so...

THANK YOU! to Lauren and Astro for keeping JM's 30 DS on my radar.  I resisted and went on steakhouse binges, stuffed my face with french fries, and almost drowned myself in milkshakes.... but your incessant comments about Jillian Michaels reminded me that I should supplement daily running and hiking with some hardcore core workouts.

lauren - I think I've read your TSA-ward like 5 times since you posted.  I hope we inspire you to write more, because I know many of us on here enjoy your stories (and the lack of SPaG errors).
I would rather cuddle then have sex.  If you're good with grammar, you'll get it.

Urghh, I'm back after a whole day without internet thanks to some eejit fro the phone company apparently cut the wrong wires meaning that half of the town had no connection at all to the internet/phone.  >:(

Isn't this a BDSM fic? or at least a really lemony fic?

Yeah it is a BDSM fic - but I've put in "hiatus" at the minute as I can't get my head properly into it, that and the fact it's wrote in 3rd person is not helping either and the thought of reading over 3000 pages is a bit daunting when I can't get comfortable enough to sit and read for more than 30 minutes at a time.  :(
I'm not flouncing it as I just can't do that atm - damn pregnancy won't let me.  >:(
I did start another fic though  :D, which I'm quite enjoying and it's just under 900 pages.

I'm really liking Edwards interaction with Bella's daughter in it.

It sounds to me that the education system might be responsible for our Twific (and other - Booked?) addictions. I'm no lawyer, but I think we might be able to launch a class action lawsuit - and then we can all retire and spend our days reading (or watching - Booked?) p0rn!

Who's on board?
Lol, I definitley am hun - I blame it for my gay p.orn addiction!!
It's either that or I blame my parents.  :D

So, I was thinking about P2P fics today after seeing a story about the Beautiful Bastard authors getting a book deal. Which fic do you think has potential to be a book? Friday's at Noon or Dear Mr. Masen are probably my top two.
For me I think Paper Cutouts by twistedcoincidence has potential as they're romance was a bit unconventional and they had to fight for it. Plus Edwards kid was really sweet.  :)

I know what you mean about Tesco - one of our bigger shopping towns to us is having a fourth one built - it's going to be a "medium" sized Express, yet they have a "large" (two stories high)  Express and two Metro versions already . It's not needed as it's only 1/4 mile away from the large store.  ::) ::)

Tesco sounds like the European version of Walmart. I believe Asda, is owned by Tesco or vice versa, not Wmart.
Aldi here is a a discounted grocery store that may not necessarily sell the finest quality goods.
Was Tesco in Cali? I read somewhere that a large European chain is/was trying to open up in california.

We just had a Walmart open in our town (yesterday), which is awesome, because the one next town over moved to the other side of town a couple of years ago, making it a major pain in the ass to go to.

I wish we had a Target close by, nearest one is about 45 minutes away, just not worth it to go to.

I thought it was okay.  I didn't see the need for the continued (soft - allegedly) drug use but, I am a just say no kind of girl so maybe that explains it.

The summary made it sound more exciting than it actually was though.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

It was well really well written with minimal SpaG errors and it was a HEA - what else can you ask for?

Walmart, I have a choice of several, but the closest is 30 miles away
Target, 45 miles away
Kmart, 45 miles away

Yea, I live in the middle of NOWHERE.

If I travelled for 45 minutes I can guarantee I would have passed at least that many Tesco's.

Once they get in they spread like an infectious disease.  There are 8 variations  that I know of within 15 minutes drive of me.

I haven't seen one here yet.  But it could have opened and closed and I wouldn't necessarily hear about it.   Most counties have zoning laws to keep out places like Walmart.  What is funny is that it keeps the Costco's small as well. And Costco doesn't have the bad reputation.

But really? We have so many similar stores that if Walmart were to close tomorrow? There are still so many places to shop for similar things.  Though I understand they have a reputation for moving into an area, put all the stores out of business because their prices are so low, and then close because there aren't enough people to make it worthwhile.  I guess there are parts of California where this could happen, but most areas are so populated that there are already discount stores giving Walmart a run for its money.

I'm watching Celebrity Juice and Joey Essex has just said that Richard and Judy are the people that created the world!
He also thought that the Country that bordered Wales was Russia or London.

Where the hell did he go to school?

I am ashamed to be from the same Country as him!

This used to be me.  The nearest real grocery store where the produce wasn't moldy was 20 miles by highway away.

But Target, Walmart, and Costco were all 45 min to an hour away.  It usually ended up being an all day thing.  We had a Kmart in the opposite direction that was about 30 min away by freeway (when I say by freeway we are talking 70 miles an hour speed limits)  It was a nice Kmart but there was nothing else there except a high priced grocery store, so I didn't go much.

Now the grocery stores are about 3 miles away.  Walmart is about 5.  It's nice.   ;D

they were talking about this on the news, how the companies now have to test spelling before they even ask about specific qualifications.

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
I just read this - it's a really quick read written in drabble fashion, but it is complete so it works:

Present Perfect  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Author: giselle-lx
She sees the future. He hates his past. They say you can't choose your family...but sometimes, your family chooses you. A pre-Twilight novella for robsjenn.
Follow/FavoriteRated: Fiction T - English - Drama - Alice - Chapters: 56 - Words: 16,082 - Reviews: 236 - Favs: 27 - Follows: 19 - Updated: 04-11-13 - Published: 03-29-13 - Status: Complete - id: 9148341

It is actually from Alice's viewpoint and jumps around a lot.  But it is how Alice and Edward became friends.

Probably doesn't help that today's kids have all grown up with "text-speak"  My mom has to Google my niece's emails to her.  Fortunately, I've taught my mother well & she works Google like a pro.
