Here's a random question...

Who is Yasibit? And why does s/he appear at the top of the 152 thread, when it's Ficfangirl who edits all of my mistakes?

Do you remember when the latest 152 thread disappeared for a little while, then we had to put in a different URL for a day or so and the Index didn't work because it had the old URL, then our thread came back with the original URL?  Well, Drypen merged one of those little short one question threads with our 152 thread which caused all the mayhem.  When it came back, the originator of the little one question thread appeared as the originator of our current 152 thread instead of me.  So, they gave me the power of editing the thread and put in my opening post, but couldn't change it back to me at the top of the thread.  Thus, you have Yasibit appearing as the "owner" of the thread.

So, I just finished Virgins and Villains (alternating with the EPOV fic) and I just wanted to ask if you know how WIPish the sequel is? It hasn't been updated since February...

And since V&V ended at a very good place, is the sequel worth reading (when it's been finished)?


Soooo, I think I'll reread Love in my Box now. I like that fic.  :)
I'd wait on the sequel.  She was so regular on V&V and LRM, but I think she is working on an original fic so updates are slooooowwwwwww. It is good so far. :)

You might have said that first, but then you would have given an explanation.  You know you can't help yourself when you get the chance for a "teachable moment."  I just skipped the opening snark!  I spend so much time dealing with my lovely teenage children.  If I start with snark, we won't make any progress on the matter at hand, so I'm used to jumping right over it.

Is this the Memorial Day long weekend?

I have no idea what Memorial Day is or why you all have a four day weekend, but have fun and safe travels to you all!

I was about to say that I do know that you're not supposed to wear white after Memorial Day, but now that I think about it, that can't be right, because your summer is just beginning, so that holiday am I thinking of?

Our holidays are really basically named here - Australia Day, Queen's Birthday, Show Holiday - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what we're celebrating, which is probably a good thing, because most Aussies are drunk by 9am on a holiday anyway!

Memorial Day is a day we're supposed to honor those who died fighting for our country.

Unless you live in the semi-tropics or tropics, you're not supposed to wear white until Memorial Day (in the US).  I think that rule is one that is honored in the breach.  Especially with winter white pants, white clothes worn at Easter, etc.  I distinctly remember wearing white gloves at Easter time as a child, which meant white shoes.

Wow - from one OCD'er to another, that's pretty impressive.

However, a true OCD'er would have colour-coded or at the very least, converted the bra sizes to a standard unit for comparison, because with my 12EE beside everyone's 36/38/40 C/D/E people will think I look like this:



and I don't! Not really!

Aussie 12EE is US 34E, UK 34F - so normal...ish.  ;)

So what are you required to show during "Show Holiday"?  :P

Almost every city and most towns has a "show" - it's like a fair, I guess. Picture the start of the movie Babe, where he wins the pig.

There are rides and local producers and farmers take along their produce to "show". School students enter artwork, handwriting, etc for judging and there is also cooking judging - cakes, jams, cake icing, etc. There are also animals on show (cattle, chooks, horses, dogs, etc), stunt driving, fireworks - everything you can think of!

The shows in each capital city are the biggest - people will travel from all over the state to display produce and stock. The show in Brisbane is also called The Ekka (The Brisbane Exhibition). You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

There is no holiday for the smaller shows (where my school is, the show is on a Sunday) but everyone gets a holiday so that they can go to the regional show.

The Rockhampton Show is in a few weeks -we get a 4 day weekend because the show holiday is on a Friday and the Queen's Birthday holiday is on the Monday.

I haven't been to a show since I was 14, but I have often worked at the show, because school P&Cs (PTAs) often get the chance to sell food, etc as a fundraiser. That's why I baked all those cupcakes a few weeks back.

Outing my inner nerd, but I secretly love the fruit displays, like this...it's ALL fruit and vegetables!
