I just read a good typo. I think its the funniest so far. " I lay back and let the tears fall from my eyes. Shaking off my reverend, I quickly washed my hair." *giggles* How does that one slip by anyone? :D

Maybe the reverend needed a good shaking!

In "Accidental Atonement" by IdPattThat, Edward is a youth pastor that I wouldn't mind shaking!

But as I must say at least 1000 times every day at work - Check your work!

What the hell! Astro! You are reading Edward and Leah fics!

And you talk about the dissidents reading books.
 Shame on you.

That is a good one! How the hell do you mix reverie with reverend?!

I came across a couple this week. One of them was in a real book too!

'In the throws of passion I glanced up...'

I've seen that one in a fair few fan fics too, never fails to give me a giggle, always makes me think of partners throwing each other around the bedroom.

The other one also caused me to giggle-snort:

"And who exactly was your sauce?"

Hmmm, Carbonara or Napoli? Nope, I think my sauce is Bolognese...  :D :D :D :

Edt: I've been reading the Up In The Air series by R. K. Lilley and I noticed that there is the repeated use of the word 'luxe', which to me is not a word at all.

"Red was outrageously luxe as I had pictured it would be."

Now, is this an Americanism? I'm assuming it's a shortening of luxurious, but I'm wondering if she really means 'lush' (which I know is more a British-ism). Luxe is just not a word at all and lush would make 100% more sense, unless of course it's something American's say all the time, and then I'd let it slide rather than chalking it up to a misunderstanding or editing failure.

Have you read Blood and Glory or Words with Friends?

They have both been recommended recently.

Another good one is First and Ten by nolebucgrl.

Yes, I've read all three. I'm still looking around for something good. Thanks

I just finished You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login which I really liked. Others I've read recently and enjoyed: Heirs and Heirlooms by 2amlovesick, Social Studies by Lolo84, Principal of Things by samekraemer, A Beautiful Mess by Livie79, Like Never Before by capricapra, Symmetry by aftrnoondlight. Hope that helps!

Nope.  Americans are not using luxe in our speech.  I agree that lush would be more fitting.  There is a magazine called Luxe but unless your referring to that I don't imagine you would ever use luxe in a real conversation.  Well, maybe if you're a rapper or Justin Bieber. ha!

I've seen a historical YA romance series called The Luxe, but I've never run across anyone using the term. It sounds like something someone in JD Robbs In Death series might say, like they use "mag" and "magalicious". Maybe the author is trying to start something new?

I'm sitting here feeling like crap today. I caught a bit of daughter's cold. I'm coughing, my head hurts, and I'm SOOO tired, in spite of having slept for around 13 hours last night.

I'm trying to decide of re-reading the whole Black Dagger Brotherhood books will be fun, or if it will make me sick of the series before Lover at Last comes out next week.

I just kept thinking that it sounded a bit like a euphamism for "me time" involvoing a bishop.  :57:
That was very early on in the story and it was full of errors but I am not a flouncer and I will finish it today. I think I have flounced maybe 4 times in 10 years of reading FF.  :o Sometimes it can be torture but I have to know what happens so I stick it out.

I flounce all the time for really minor things :D If I don't flounce, I'm usually skipping a couple of chapters at least if I'm bored with the tempo of the story. I can't imagine always reading until the end as I've read some awful fanfiction.

I agree with you, if the story/SpaG is rubbish, it won't get any better.

I have been reading the entries on FF TwiHEAcontest and have even flounced a couple of them.

I don't understand the reviews on them though.  One of the entries has double the number of reviews as the others, and, having read most of them I can't say it is that much better than the rest.

There are some lovely one shots there though.

:D :D :D This is awkward, I submitted one! I've been waiting for one of you to post it as an example of poor writing or something. I'd literally never come back here ever!

It's a really good fic!

I ignored it for months because it was E/L but it's one of my all time faves - and IdPattThat posted another outtake this week.

So there!

And I'm going to read  :o A BOOK when my holidays start IN 4 SLEEPS!!!

You have nothing to fear!

And it was perfectly proof read!  :)

I've been wanting to promote it, but thought it might break the whole anon rule thing.

Me, too.  I'm still reading Quiet Storm and I still don't really like the characters, except Aro.  It's gotten a little more interesting in the plot line, but Bella and Edward are still so whiiiiiiney.

Need I remind you again of the fic I read very early on? It had Charlie dancing around the house in a pink tutu and then "shaking the reverend"
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
while Bella watched from the kitchen window!

Thank goodness it was only a 2 chapter fic, because I would have read the rest of it!  ::)

But just think about all the time you'd have to read GOOD fic if you flounced the BAD fic?!

:D I can neither confirm or deny which one it is. I'll just be happy when I can have it back - originally the whole thing was meant to be over by now, but they extended the deadline and it won't be done for another 3 weeks. Feels very weird to have no control over posting something I've written, but then again I wouldn't have written it without their prompts. If you find one you hate, keep it to yourself! At least with you if you do find out which is mine, you won't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining if you hate it.

I've never seen better proof-reading ;) They're very strict with the anonymous part - sparrownotes24 (I think) wrote something beautiful and someone reviewed it on the TwiHEA page saying something that identified her and they pulled the whole story :o

Also, you read a fic where Bella watched Charlie masturbate? Um.. :sign0137:
