The 2013 Rugby League season officially starts tonight with the All Stars match - Indigenous All Stars vs the NRL All Stars.

Oh, wait, that might be me. Well, the yelling at the refs part. I don't drink much beer. Except those flavored malt beverages. Yeah, we used to call them wine coolers. They come in all sorts of great flavors like strawberry margarita. But really? They are beer. Great tasting, frou-frou beer.

I just might imbibe in a cold beer and I just might yell at the TV - it's part of our cultural heritage! - but I only get really passionate about State of Origin - it's kind of Australia's own little Civil War! And if the Brisbane Broncos are playing well, I jump on that bandwagon too!

See those 4 little gold X's on the top of his shirt - above the name Slater, and on his shirt sleeves and on his shorts?

Somehow I nearly missed the ones on his shorts

Anyway, XXXX (pronounced fourex) is a major sponsor of the Qld team. They make the state's beer. It's practically the law in Qld that you have to have at least a 6-pack in the fridge at any time.

The State of Origin is only played between New South Wales and Queensland. The teams don't have names - they're just the Mighty Maroons or the Cane Toads for Qld and the blues or the cockroaches for NSW. They play 3 games every year and whoever wins the most games wins for the year. This year, Queensland will win its 8th consecutive Origin series. Can't wait until June!

Here's Billy Slater from the front, after a game enjoying a XXXX in the locker room. (I particularly enjoy when they show footage of the locker room)

I read chapter 1 and flounced, I hated the writing style. That disjointed poetry-into-prose type thing isn't for me. Too pretentious.

Now, it might be that it's that time of the year where I should be feeling less prickly and more sentimental....you know V day? Or it could be because it that time of the month and so I'm hormonal to the hilt, but Rhasody in B is just a lovely bit of romantic yumminess. (SavvyB look away now) This Edward is such a darling and Bella is empathetic and very well written, starts in childhood, as all the best Twifics do, *grinning as I typed that, you ladies...shaking my head*and each chapter is a New Year's Eve. It's not very long and perfect for a cold, Saturday afternoon, wrapped-up in M&S loungewear, on the sofa with a pot of English Breakfast (yes we Brits drink it even when it's not breakfast!) What more could I ask for? Oh, yeah, well, I suppose....Edward?

Lol, don't worry - I will survive as I thrive on angst but I'm blaming bump as I turned into an emotional wreck after reading CaraNo's WPW.

God she's gonna be a nightmare once she's born as I keep blaming her.

And yes, I'm really liking it atm.
